Janet Elder spent over thirty years at the New York Times, rising from reporter to deputy executive editor. She took time out from her editorial duties to write "Huck: The Remarkable True Story of How One Lost Puppy Taught a Family--and a Whole Town--About Hope and Happy Endings." (New York: Broadway Books, 2010). Ostensively about the search for a lost--and beloved--pet, Ms. Elder also eloquently described the beginning of her fight against cancer and how it related to the search for the family dog.
