At the first-ever ComplexCon in Hong Kong, a scene all too familiar to avid followers of the pop-culture festival unfolded. Thousands of streetwear fanatics lined up for hours awaiting the event and tornadoed the Complex Marketplace upon entry. This crowd rushed to grab all the limited-release RichMilk Drips, Verdy x McDonald’s skate decks, and Clot Crocs they could. The law of scarcity rules the Complex land, and those with the signed Jeff Staple Panda Pigeon Dunks win.
To the uninitiated, the sheer madness that unfolds when the doors open drops jaws; to others who have followed the Long Beach, California-born gathering — known for its limited-edition merch and sneaker drops — since its 2016 inception, it’s just business as usual. In its debut international effort, ComplexCon attracted more than 30,000 people (from places including the U.S., Canada, the UK, Japan, Germany, South Korea, Taiwan, mainland China and Hong Kong) to Hong...

The musical seeds that Miley Cyrus and Pharrell Williams planted more than a decade ago are in full bloom on their newly-released single “Doctor (Work It Out).” The song, which was first created in 2012 around the time that Cyrus was working on her 2013 album Bangerz, leaked online in 2017, but the new and improved version marks their first official collaboration since 2014.

Miley Cyrus’ 2013 Bangerz era has been immortalized in pop culture history as both iconic and infamous. The antics of pop’s then 20-year-old wild child were attention demanding and culturally complicated, but the spectacle nearly swallowed the music whole. Bangerz was soul-stirring in some moments, a country hoedown at others, and more generally a genre-hopping showcase of one of pop’s most enigmatic performers. That was more than a decade ago, but Cyrus’ next single “Doctor (Work It Out),” out March 1, is a reminder that she had her finger on...

Pharrell Williams Resurfaces Unreleased Miley Cyrus Collaboration for Louis Vuitton Fall-Winter Show
For every albums-worth of music released by coveted pop producers, countless other records are left on the cutting room floor — verses that never build into anything more, choruses that loop over a beat but formulate an entire song, original demos that completely transform throughout the creation process. Beyond the occasional online leak, most of these songs never make it off whatever hard drive they’ve been stored on. But when Pharrell Williams took up the mantel at Louis Vuitton, he brought his files with him and waited for the perfect...

Pharrell Williams’ vibrant debut collection for Louis Vuitton has officially touched down in California at the French luxury label’s new men’s pop-up shop in West Hollywood. Open to the public from Jan. 4 through mid-March and housed off Melrose Avenue across from Cecconi’s restaurant, the temporary boutique re-creates Paris’ oldest bridge, the Pont Neuf, where Louis Vuitton’s newly minted men’s creative director, and Virgil Abloh’s successor, staged his Spring Summer 2024 show last June.
While a bullet-proof vest-clad security guard stands out front — which feels quite L.A. these days — once inside, visitors are whisked away to France courtesy of Louis Vuitton’s spare-no-expense attention to detail. The space’s golden interior decor features street lamps and architectural molding that mimic Paris’s iconic bridge as well as a Damier-patterned floor. However, the boutique’s pièce de résistance is its speakeasy-inspired Speedy room, which is hidden...

With credit surely partly due to the “Timothée Chalamet effect,” menswear hit new levels of creativity and expressiveness this year. “There’s a sense of zero fucks given,” says stylist Michael Fisher (who last year made tailored skirts a red carpet staple on client Oscar Isaac).
The risk-taking and loosening up of silhouettes, say stylist duo Wayman + Micah comes down to the fact that “the men in Hollywood just want to have just as much fun with looks, not to mention the trends of androgyny and unisexual dressing in our culture having an influence on acceptability.”
Flaunting Sheer
Instead of an obvious no-shirt approach, many male stars embraced sultry layering by pairing suits and sweaters with sheer shirts.
“You’re still getting body but not overt body,” says stylist Fisher, whose client Tom Blyth (The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes) wore a gossamer Ami Paris tank with cardigan in November.

Westside Gunn’s critically acclaimed album Pray For Paris came out of a creative stream that took hold of the Griselda co-founder during Paris Fashion Week 2020. He tells Rolling Stone that his new album And Then You Pray For Me, the sequel to Pray For Paris coming on October 13th, came from a similar artistic rush he felt this year.
“I didn’t feel [inspiration] like that since Virgil invited me out there,” he says over the phone. “I wanted to record again. I got the studio and I started making the album.

Amid the goings on in the Hamptons — summer 2023 edition — Gwyneth Paltrow brought Italy to Amagansett with the first-ever Gucci/Goop collaboration, while Andy Cohen hung everywhere from Ed Sheeran’s performance at Stephen Talkhouse to Jimmy Fallon’s house to the ocean. Emmy-nominated animated program “Entergalactic” is set amid a vibrant New York City. Scott “Kid Cudi” Mescudi voices Jabari, a graffiti artist who has just moved into a new Manhattan apartment after being hired by a comic book company.
He’s just broken up with his ex, Carmen (voiced by Laura Harrier), because he’s too busy to have a personal relationship until he meets his neighbor, Meadow (voiced by Jessica Williams).
In building Jabari’s world, production designer Robh Ruppel created a “blank canvas” for his loft since the character has just moved in. The walls are white, boxes still fill the room, and Jabari’s bike sits against a wall. However, as the story progresses, those boxes become fewer and the space stars to become more personal. Ruppel’s key was how he used color. “You can’t have it everywhere,” he says. “To show a sad evening alone,...

Pharrell Williams never expected to become the men’s creative director of Louis Vuitton.
It was announced in February that Williams was taking on the role after Virgil Abloh passed away on November 28, 2021.
In a new interview with GQ’s September Hype issue, Williams explained that the job offer came out of the blue while he was at his studio in Miami Beach last December.
Recalling how he heard from Louis Vuitton CEO Pietro Beccari, the hitmaker shared, “It wasn’t an interview or anything.
“It was like, ‘Will you accept this position? Will you accept this appointment?’ I’m looking at the water and I’m just like, ‘What?’”
The singer insisted, “I never thought that it would be me,” with him expecting the choice to be Nigo, his longtime friend and collaborator who currently heads Lvmh brand, Kenzo.

The music industry’s petty poet, Drake, kicked off his It’s All a Blur tour Wednesday night in Chicago with a genuinely dazzling spectacle of stagecraft, including a statue of the late designer Virgil Abloh, a hologram projection of Drizzy handing him his newly released book of poetry, and a set list jam-packed with enough hits to turn even the biggest Drake hater into a certified lover boy. The tour marks Drake’s first string of shows since his tour with Migos in 2018, which might explain a particularly curious diss baked within his set.

It’s official: Pharrell Williams is taking over the role of menswear creative director at Louis Vuitton. The house as well as Williams’ PR rep have just confirmed news reports that he had been in talks to take the job, which was last filled by the late designer Virgil Abloh.
Williams’ first collection for Louis Vuitton will be shown to the world in June during men’s fashion week in Paris. Long hailed as a trend-setting style icon on red carpets, Williams, 49, has maintained a close relationship with Chanel, where his role as a brand ambassador was extended last October. The record producer has also done fashion collaborations with such brands as Moncler, Adidas for its Stan Smith line and even two with Louis Vuitton (including a line of aviator sunglasses). He also founded the streetwear lines Billionaire Boys Club and IceCream, as well as the skin-care line Humanrace.

In an airy but compact studio high in a converted Victorian bus factory in Islington, the artist known as Slawn is showing me around the kind of work that led to his being tapped to design this year’s Brit Awards statuette.
His north-London space is filled with people (unidentified hipsters on beanbags tapping at laptops), boxed superhero figurines, canvases stacked against the wall and depictions of the 22-year-old’s nemesis: the Nigerian policeman. There are also two man-sized sculptures of rabbits, shaped like penises, which might be a shock for the London fashion store that commissioned them to mark the Chinese Year of the Rabbit. And there’s some royal porn.
Not pictured: the aeroplane “in some airfield somewhere” that features daubings of dicks “on the underside of the wing. It hasn’t flown yet, but I tried to get them to fly over the palace.”

Vic Mensa peels off some tasty licks while falling through the sky in the wild new video for “Strawberry Louis Vuitton.”
The tender, soulful tune features contributions from Thundercat as well as R&b artist Maeta. In the video, co-directed by Mensa and Danielle DeGrasse-Alston, Mensa goes skydiving with his guitar, strumming and singing the whole way down before finally landing cooly in a field where he’s got a female companion waiting for him.
In a statement, Mensa explained that “Strawberry Louis Vuitton” was largely inspired by the late designer Virgil Abloh.

Following Kanye West’s inflammatory White Lives Matter shirts at his Yzy Paris fashion show earlier this month, it was unclear where the graphic T-shirts would end up. But in a video posted by Ian Connor — a West associate and popular stylist who was accused of sexual assault by at least half-a-dozen women — it appears West’s team handed out the shirts for free in Los Angeles’ Skid Row neighborhood Sunday night.

San Francisco, Oct 17 (Ians) Apple Music and Mercedes-Benz have partnered to bring Spatial Audio to different models with support for Dolby Atmos.
In Mercedes-Maybach models like the Eqs and Eqs SUV as well as the Eqe and the S-Class, Spatial Audio is fully integrated into the Mbux infotainment system, the company said.
“Spatial Audio is revolutionising the way artists create and fans listen to music, and it’s an experience that is impossible to explain in words; you have to hear it for yourself to appreciate it,” said Oliver Schusser, Apple’s vice president of Apple Music and Beats.
Drivers of Benz vehicles, who already have an Apple Music subscription, have immediate access to an increasing number of songs and albums accessible in Spatial Audio.
“Our vehicles will be the first-ever non-Apple devices to feature immersive Spatial Audio with Dolby Atmos. This shows how in-car entertainment can reach new levels by integrating hardware and software,...

Kanye West has sparked fresh controversy by claiming that George Floyd died from fentanyl and that a police officer’s knee “wasn’t even on his neck like that.”
Floyd, a Black man, was killed in an altercation with police in Minneapolis in May 2020, with a video showing Officer Derek Chauvin with his knee on his neck for almost nine minutes.
West made the claims in an appearance on the Drink Champs podcast on Saturday and made his comments while discussing Candace Owens’s documentary The Greatest Lie Ever Sold: George Floyd and the Rise of BLM.
“They hit him with the fentanyl, if you look the guys knee wasn’t even on his neck like that,” said West.
He then went on to compare George Floyd to fashion designer Virgil Abloh, who died from cancer last November. And he then attacked the “Jewish media” who he claimed he had been “blocked” by.

In addition to railing against “the Jewish media,” Kanye West spent some time on Drink Champs regurgitating what he gleaned from the George Floyd “documentary” made by alt-right firebrand Candace Owens, his partner-in-White Lives Matter. Most notably, West said that fentanyl, and not being suffocated by a police officer’s knee, caused Floyd’s death.
“I watched the George Floyd documentary that Candace Owens put out. One of the things that his two roommates said was they want a tall guy like me, and the day that he died, he...

After being barred from his Instagram account, Kanye West was apparently trying to set a world record for being suspended from the most platforms for egregious statements.
He has been facing criticism after wearing a “White Lives Matter” shirt at a show at Paris Fashion Week.
Before his posts were removed and he wasn’t able to continue tweeting, West sent out several deranged and disgusting tweets about Jewish people that we won’t be platforming here. He also accused people like Sean “Diddy” Combs, who criticized his shirts, of being ordered by Jewish people behind-the-scenes to criticize him.
The concept that Jewish people are pulling the strings in media, business and politics is a an old and sinister antisemitic trope. As far back as times like The Black Plague, Jews were used as scapegoats for the proliferation of that disease. Conspiracies connecting Jews to the control of banks and...

Kanye West is facing the repercussions of (and harsh critiques for) his most recent attention-seeking antics in fashion. Although they’ve both embraced the medium tenfold, “Entergalactic” creators Scott “Kid Cudi” Mescudi and Kenya Barris did not originally envision their TV event being animated. “We got convinced by some Netflix execs, Mike Moon, Elizabeth Porter, maybe this is something for animation,” Barris told IndieWire over Zoom. “And we started talking about how we both loved ‘Heavy Metal,’ we loved ‘Bambi’ and ‘Moana,’ and those things live forever. And so when you sometimes bring those together, it could be something amazing.”
What started as an idea for anthology series where, according to Mescudi, “the throughline, the theme through every episode, was love, and every episode would be a different cast, different story,” morphed into one 93-minute animated television special where he and Jessica Williams voice the characters Jabari and Meadow, two NYC-based artists living in the same apartment complex, trying to determine if their in too messy a situation...

Scott “Kid Cudi” Mescudi’s “Entergalactic,” the rapper’s sprawling Netflix special that accompanies his eighth studio album of the same name, is proof that the multihyphenate can “do what he wants.”
The otherworldly animated Netflix special is an immersion into a New York City that drips with milky way hues, tactile textures, wavy synths and the adrenaline rush that comes with experiencing ardent young love. A passion project and labor of love from the artist, who invited many of his real-life friends to lend their voices to the show, “Entergalactic” took several years to make, initially conceptualized as a season-long series with six to eight installments and only one animated episode.
“For a while, I had been sitting on this idea of wanting to do an anthology [where] each season would have a certain theme,” Mescudi told TheWrap. “This first season that I was developing in my mind, the theme was love.
