Sky Deutschland is stepping back from original scripted programming from next year, in a move which will see the dissolution of its drama commissioning team.
A memo sent to staff by Devesh Raj, chief executive of Sky’s Dach territories, outlined that Sky Deutschland will cease to produce any new scripted Sky original series from 2024.
Sky Deutschland will proceed with scripted titles currently in production and post-production, with those in development or pre-production placed into “turnaround”, Screen understands.

Amazon Freevee has released the first images of Mischa Barton in the revival of long-running Australian soap “Neighbours,” production on which started April 17 in Melbourne. The images also feature cast members Jackie Woodburne and Alan Fletcher.

The new series will premiere exclusively for free on Amazon Freevee in the U.K. and U.S. this fall and will include streaming rights to thousands of episodes from the previous seasons, which will be available prior to the new series’ premiere. The series will also stream on SVOD counterpart Prime Video in Australia, New Zealand and Canada. Australia’s Network 10, the home of “Neighbours” for 36 years, will retain first-run rights in the country.
The new season is a continuation of the long-running daily drama series about the lives, loves and challenges of the residents on Ramsay Street in Erinsborough, Australia, a fictional suburb of Melbourne.

London TV Screenings Unveils 2024 Dates
The fourth annual London TV Screenings has unveiled dates, as the gathering of sales houses continues to define itself as one of the most important events in the TV calendar. Next year’s fourth Screenings, which in 2023 saw more than two-dozen distributors host events for buyers, will take place Monday 26 February to Friday 1 March 2024. The Screenings are organized by ITV Studios, All3Media International, Banijay Rights, eOne and Fremantle but many others sign on through the year, and last year the total number was 28. A London TV Screenings spokesperson said: “The third annual London TV Screenings proved that the event is firmly embedded in the annual buying calendar, packing out the largest and most prestigious screening venues London has to offer.”
