- I'm of the opinion that it is a mistake to be anything other than hopeful about the future, no matter the issue. I do believe that reading and publishing are changing, but I also feel they've been continually evolving since the cave paintings at Lascaux. I trust, though, that there will always be a place for novels, as screenwriters need something to adapt.
- Artists have to love what they create. When the art is effective, it can inspire that same love in the person experiencing it. The audience and the artist are then connected by the mutual love of this third thing: the art. The relationship between artist and audience is less of a love affair than a well-functioning love triangle.
