This week, "The Biggest Loser" (Tue., 8 p.m. Et on NBC) lost a half hour of its running time so NBC could premiere a super-sized episode of "Fashion Star." And to commemorate the premiere, because they plan these things in advance, Jessica Simpsons pulled double-duty on the night. The clearly pregnant Simpson was part of a prize package on "Loser" in anticipation of her "Star" debut.
In a white elephant challenge, Jeremy gave up his first place prize of a celebrity shopping spree to his sister Conda in exchange for a goldfish. The Biggest Loser returned this week for season 13, a season of no excuses. What better a way to start the new year with the affirmation of no excuses? As host, Alison Sweeney said, “Make excuses or make a change.”
Of the ten teams of two including brothers and sisters, mothers and daughters, and so on, only nine of those teams made it past the gates of the ranch. It was a great idea to give the contestants a challenge to get in because while these individuals were chosen to be at the ranch grounds, they still had to fight to get in. They still have to show how bad they wanted a spot and earn that spot. The challenge was split into three phases, a 40 yard dash, a 40 yard dash with a puzzle, and a test of balance, endurance, and depending on your partner. Thankfully, there was only one minor...

Sisters Olivia Ward and Hannah Curlee are the latest winners of The Biggest Loser: Couples and they have both managed to maintain their new healthy lifestyles.
After leaving The Biggest Loser house and without the help of their trainers, keeping up with workouts and healthy eating is not an easy feat. But these two sisters have maintained their brand new bodies and have also learned that healthy eating doesn't always mean eating less.
“I used to get bacon, egg and cheese on a bagel and think that it was just a bagel," Ward says of her previous diet. "Now I love an egg white omelet made with vegetables, like asparagus and mushrooms, left over from the previous night’s dinner. You can eat healthy and still love what you’re putting in your mouth.”
Ward also says that she makes sure she orders healthily while eating out as well. “When...

We watched the whole season of The Biggest Loser routing for the sisters Olivia Ward and Hannah Curlee because we could relate to their strong bond. As so when the pair ended up in the final three together we were so happy for them. But in the back of our heads, knowing what just a tinge of sibling rivalry feels like, we couldn’t help but wonder if they were at all competitive with each other. In a recent conference call interview Olivia, who won the title and the $250,000 cash prize, answered our questions about going head-to-head against her sister and best friend.
She admitted there was a healthy competition going on, "It was always one of those things that we came in together but at the same time it was like, 'She’s never just going to let me win anything, and I’m...

Olivia Ward arrived at "The Biggest Loser" ranch with her sister and teammate, Hannah Curlee, at 261 pounds and she left at a svelte 132 pounds and with the Season 11 win.
The opera singer from New York City spoke to reporters on Wednesday (May 25) and said she had no idea what she was in for.
"I think that my expectations when I went to the ranch was, 'Ok, I'm going to go in, I'm going to do some working out, I'm going to get some information, and I'm going to lose weight,'" Ward, 35, says. "I had no earthly idea it was going to be as difficult as it was. I think I really underestimated the physical aspect of how difficult it was."
Nevertheless, she excelled in the show and went on to break several firsts for the series. Along with Hannah, they were the first sisters to reach the finals together.

“For such a long time, I didn’t even let myself imagine winning,” Olivia Ward told People magazine. “I will say the last few weeks I was really pushing towards the finish line and I thought about that confetti!”
Well, we probably would have been thinking about that massive $250,000 prize money instead — but that wouldn’t be nearly so humble to say. Ward says she’s very excited about the prospect of finally being cast for those ’sexpot roles’ instead of the humorous or matronly...

Olivia Ward has become the latest slimmer to exercise her way to triumph on The Biggest Loser.
The 35 year old mezzo-soprano opera singer lost an amazing 129lbs throughout the series of the hit Nmc weight loss show, dropping from 261 lbs to 132 lbs in just five months.
Olivia first entered the ranch with her sister Hannah Curlee. Hannah also made last night’s season finale, and dropped from 248 lbs to 128 lbs, achieving a total loss of 120 lbs.
Also featured in the episode was fellow finalist Irene Alvarado who lost 116lbs, bring her from 255 to 139 lbs.
Ward has previously admitted that her motivation for being on The Biggest Loser was the fact that her weight combined with a diagnosis of Polycystic Ovary Syndrome, meant she would likely never have children if she didn’t become substantially more healthy. She also felt her obesity was a reason she had not received many opera singing roles.

On the very same day Jillian Michaels’ last episode of The Biggest Loser, a new trainer has been announced who will take her place for the 12th season of NBC’s hit weight loss competition series.
While she may be better known for dating pop singer, Enrique Iglesias, and while she has only competed in a match once in the past eight years, tennis star` Anna Kournikova will take to the court next season as The Biggest Loser‘s newest trainer.
Executive producer Todd Lubin told Vulture, “We intentionally tried to not replace Jillian.” Apparently this decision was too good to be true, because Kournikova, 29 will be making her long term reality TV debut this fall. Kournikova appeared on The Biggest Loser in the fall of 2010 and clearly that appearance went very well. Not only that but who better a trainer than a professional athlete? This is only one of...

In quite possibly the most unique season of "The Biggest Loser" ever, 35-year-old opera singer, Olivia Ward, took the title and this season's $250,000 prize.
The New York City resident lost 129 pounds from her starting weight of 261 to knock out both her sister, Hannah Curlee, and the third place finalist, Irene Alvarado, for the win. She was a force to be reckoned with from the very beginning of the competition. And her desire to elevate her career from being typecast in the opera world drove her.
Her sister, 32-year-old human resources rep, Hannah, came in second place with a total weight loss of 120 pounds from her starting weight of 248 pounds. The Nashville gal had once been an athlete on her way to a pro career when a devastating car accident ended her sports career with a serious back injury.
