Following the most stressful trip to Hawaii since the Brady kids pissed off that tiki god, American Idol‘s Top 20 returned to Los Angeles for another round of performances.
Since we’re getting to spend a little more time with each performance from this point on, I’ve decided it’s time to start handing out completely superfluous grades for each. Because, hey, aren’t we all judges here?
Madison Vandenburg | “Domino,” Jessie J
First of all, I commend anyone brave enough to take on a Jessie J song live, though I shouldn’t be surprised that Madison crushed this performance,...

American Idol set expectations unusually high on Wednesday with Ryan Seacrest promising “some of the most spectacular talent we’ve ever heard,” including — wait for it — the “greatest audition Idol has ever seen.”
As for whether Idol made good on that promise… honestly, who’s to say? This show has been on for so long that there are literally contestants whose parents have auditioned at one point. I’m not about to sift through 17-ish years worth of auditions just to prove Seacrest wrong. Not anymore.
In any event, the first part of his promise absolutely came true. This episode...

To celebrate his sobriety even further, Logan picked a special song to sing for his audition in Demi Lovato’s Sober. It was soulful and sweet, touching Katy Perry, Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan. Logan explained that his addiction issues began with his older […]

The Top 40 were flown to Hawaii at the end of January and stayed at the Aulani Resort. That luxury hotel in Honolulu is owned by Disney as is ABC, the new network for “American Idol.” Each of these would-winners of season 17 sang once again for judges Katy Perry, Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie. Only 20 of them were put through to the next round. This episode will air on March 31.
That score was split into two groups.
