Tolondu Toichubaev

Tolondu Toichubaev is Kyrgyz film producer. In 2004 he founded Oy Art Film Producing Company together with Kyrgyz film director Aktan Arym Kubat. The Company specializes in producing Central Asian and Eastern full-length, art house films which aesthetically portray Central Asian and Eastern lifestyles, philosophy, culture, customs, traditions etc.
Tolondu Toichubaev started his career with producing short films by young film directors and the debut was "The Border" by Marat Alykulov (2005) which won many prizes at CIS film festivals. First feature film produced by Tolondu Toichubaev is "Pure Coolness" (Boz Salkyn) by Ernest Abdyjaparov (2007) which became extremely popular in Kyrgyzstan and further was selected as Kyrgyzstan's Official Entry to American Academy's "Best Foreign Language Film" Category.
Nowadays, Oy Art Film Producing Company headed by Tolondu Toichubaev produced films that take part and win prizes at the biggest international film festivals and most professional film platforms, such as Cannes International Film Festival (France), Berlin International Film Festival (Germany), Locarno International Film Festival (Switzerland), Rotterdam International Film Festival (the Netherlands), Karlovy Vary International Film Festival (Czech Republic) etc. Four films produced by Oy Art ("Pure Coolness", "The Light Thief", "Heavenly Nomadic" and "Centaur") were selected as Kyrgyzstan's Official Entry to American Academy Awards (Oscars).
