The streaming giant has handed out a third and final season renewal for Sweet Tooth, the Warner Bros. TV drama based on the DC Comics title. In a twist, production on season three of the series from exec producer Robert Downey Jr. and his Team Downey banner has already been completed in New Zealand.
“In a lot of ways, it’s exactly the story that I imagined we would tell and in a lot of ways it takes on its own life,” showrunner and creator Jim Mickle said in a statement Wednesday. “At the beginning, I think you set out to tell these landmark pieces of Gus’ story and the big pieces of the comic book, but the beauty of long-form storytelling and Gus’ journey over 24 episodes is the characters themselves tell you what they want to be. Daniel Abraham and Ty Franck's hit science fiction novel series, "The Expanse," written under the joint pseudonym James S.A. Corey, has been adapted into an acclaimed television series of the same name. The story begins in a future where humanity has colonized the solar system. Factions on Earth, Mars, and space stations battle for supremacy. The series ran for six seasons, with its first three seasons airing on Syfy while Amazon Studios produced its later half -- sending it to stream on Prime Video.
With its interplanetary scope and impressive ensemble cast, "The Expanse" is one of the best sci-fi shows in recent memory and one of Prime Video's most underrated original series. The show is willing to take risks with its story, from the main characters dying to shocking twists every step of the way as the war for humanity's future unfolds. Here is a definitive ranking of...

This review contains spoilers for The Expanse.
What a difference a week makes! If Prime Video had released the final season of The Expanse all at once, viewers would have seen the premiere as nothing more than the preamble to episode 2, but on its own “Azure Dragon” stands out as an action-packed but also emotionally powerful installment that deserves its own week of appreciation. Although it’s still easy to wonder how the story can possibly wrap up in four more episodes, things are definitely on a good track.
Even small moments like Naomi freezing up during the mission to capture the Azure Dragon had its own almost completely unspoken impact. Even for a Belter born making ship-to-ship jumps like this one, Naomi is clearly feeling the trauma of her suitless escape through the void in The Expanse season 5. There was something very sweet about her exchange with Holden saying she was okay,...

Throughout the past five seasons of Amazon Studios’ The Expanse, there have been plenty of moments worth talking about—from speeches, to jumps out of airlocks without suits, to deaths that made us cry. Ahead of the show’s final batch of six episodes, premiering Friday, December 10, we decided to relive our 10 favorite scenes—in no particular order—from the sci-fi epic so far. “I am that guy.” Indeed, he is. Topping many fans’ lists is likely this badass Season 3 scene with Amos (Wes Chatham), in which he prevents the kindhearted Prax (Terry Chen) from killing the villainous Dr. Strickland, telling his pal that he isn’t “that guy.” Prax leaves, and Strickland, thinking Amos has spared him, thanks the mechanic…only for Amos to say he is “that guy” and shoot Strickland without a second thought. Drummer’s Speech On the precipice of their journey through the Ring, Drummer...

Amazon Studios’ sci-fi drama The Expanse has always been a fighter, and it is gearing up to go out with a bang based on the key Season 5 episode titled “Gaugamela,” the script of which serves as the latest entry in Deadline’s It Starts On the Page, our series that highlights the scripts that serve as the creative backbones of the now-underway TV awards season.

Polyamory is not new to the world of The Expanse. It was already established earlier in the series (and in the books) that James Holden is the child of five fathers and three mothers, each of whom contributed DNA to his genetic mix. But season 5 introduces a much stronger illustration of the future practice of polyamory among the crews of the Belter ships Dewalt and Mowteng, Drummer’s fleet of sorts. The support they provide each other, especially as Drummer mourns the loss of Klaes Ashford, is undeniably heartwarming in such a fractious time.
“We are finally seeing Drummer in a love relationship, and it happens to be a polyamorous, beautiful, queer family,” Cara Gee told us about her character in The Expanse season 5. “And I could not be more thrilled to represent that. The phenomenal actors who bring all those roles to life — I’m just so excited for the world to meet them.
