Sheryl Dunnette Locke
Sheryl Dunnette Locke received a Bachelor of Science in Imaging and Photographic Technology from the Rochester Institute of Technology in 1987. Sheryl was hired by a contractor at the Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center, National Aeronautics and Space Administration (N.A.S.A.) in 1987. In 1990 she was hired by the US Federal Government to work for N.A.S.A. as a photographer. Sheryl was a photographer for N.A.S.A. from 1990 until 2015 when she retired. During her photographic career Sheryl spent over 200 hours flying in a T-38 Talon jet aircraft taking air-to-air photos primarily of the Space Shuttle during piggy-back rides on a modified Boeing 747 jumbo jet. In addition to still photography Sheryl also shot video for use in NASA productions and for b-roll for the news media. Sheryl's involvement included using GoPro cameras in N.A.S.A. T-38 jet aircraft for which she was acknowledged in the National Geographic series "Known Universe".
Sheryl has continued her air-to-air photographic work after retiring from N.A.S.A. through private contracts.
Sheryl was born and raised in Golden Valley, Minnesota.
