Ahead of its May 10th release, McCreary has released the single “Type III” featuring Rufus Wainwright.
The album also features Jens Kidman (Meshuggah), Joe Satriani, Buck Dharma (Blue Öyster Cult), Kim Thayil (Soundgarden), Scott Ian (Anthrax), Brendon Small (Dethklok), Ben Weinman (The Dillinger Escape Plan), Warren Fitzgerald (The Vandals), Esjay Jones (We Are Pigs), Gene Hoglan (Dethklok), and others.

He co-wrote The Singularity with his brother Brendan McCreary, who also lends his vocals to eight of the tracks.

Mike Portnoy recently participated in a series of videos for instructional drumming platform Drumeo just weeks after rejoining Dream Theater.
The first clip saw him performing Dream Theater’s “Pull Me Under” for the first time in 13 years, while a second video featured an interview and longer playthough session.
A new video from the sessions subjects Portnoy to Drumeo’s recurring “For the First Time” segment, in which drummers hear a song for the first time — sans percussion — and are tasked with improvising a drum part.
The Drumeo studio engineers apparently had a hard time finding a song that Portnoy wasn’t already familiar with, citing his extensive touring portfolio and exposure to countless rock and metal acts over the years. Therefore, the song they landed on, via the recommendation of Portnoy’s drum tech Jose Baraquio, was kinda out of left field: Nickelback’s 2009 single “Burn It to the Ground.

Wolfgang Van Halen continues to be an outspoken fan of progressive extreme metal band Meshuggah.
Wolfgang recently took part in Amoeba Music’s “What’s in My Bag?” video series, flipping through the vinyl selections at the famed record store’s location in Hollywood, California.
The videos are a fascinating look into the music tastes of the artists themselves, and Wolfgang’s Amoeba haul is reflective of the core influences in his own music.
One band in particular — Meshuggah — has been a recurring namedrop for Wolfgang, as he previously cited the prog metallers as a direct influence on parts of the second Mammoth Wvh album and even put the band on his wedding playlist. Not surprisingly, the first items he picked up at Amoeba were two different vinyl variants of Meshuggah’s latest album Immutable, along with copies of the Swedish band’s Nothing and Koloss.

Congratulations are in order for Wolfgang Van Halen, who married his longtime girlfriend, Andraia Allsop, in a ceremony at their Los Angeles home on Sunday (October 15th). The rocker brought a little metal to the festivities by including the mighty Meshuggah on the wedding playlist.
Wolfgang and Andraia got married on the eighth anniversary of their first date. According to People, the bride was walked down the aisle by her father as Dean Martin’s “Everybody Loves Somebody” played.
Meanwhile, Wolfgang walked down the aisle with his mom, Valerie Bertinelli, to a tune written by his late father, the legendary Eddie Van Halen. “The song that my father had written for me, it’s an instrumental piece called ‘316,’ he told People in a pre-wedding interview. “It’ll be a nice way to include my dad.”
Back in August, the couple revealed that their first dance would be to Peter Gabriel’s “In Your Eyes,...

Wolfgang Van Halen has announced his sophomore Mammoth Wvh album, Mammoth II, arriving August 4th. The video for lead single “Another Celebration at the End of the World” is now streaming ahead of the LP’s summer release date.
Wolfgang, the son of the late Eddie Van Halen, wasted no time announcing the new album after inking a record deal with BMG earlier in the week. As was the case with Mammoth Wvh’s eponymous debut, Wolfgang handled the entirety of the instrumentation and vocals on Mammoth II, recording at 5150 Studios with producer Michael “Elvis” Baskette.
The upbeat pop-rocker “Another Celebration at the End of the World” sees Wolfgang in full-on frontman mode, delivering a commanding vocal performance while unleashing guitar theatrics worthy of the name “Van Halen.”
In Wolfgang’s own words, the track’s content is indicative of what fans can expect from the rest of Mammoth II...

Meshuggah are about to head out on their first tour in close to three years, and drummer Tomas Haake has a lot on his mind. He and his bandmates are hard at work designing a new stage set-up, adjusting to changes within their road crew, and plotting out intensive rehearsals, all while getting the word out about Immutable, their upcoming ninth studio LP. But the most pressing issue — the cause of Meshuggah’s upcoming U.S. dates being pushed from the spring of 2022 to the fall — is a little more immediate.
