The Art Directors Guild has elected a new slate of executive board officers, and for the first time in the union’s history, the top-ranking four are all women.
In a vote that took place over mail in March and April, the members of the IATSE-affiliated union chose Not Dead Yet and Corporate production designer Dina Lipton to be their president, with current president Nelson Coates vacating the role after eight and a half years. Senior set designer Kristen Davis (A Friend of the Family, Monster) was appointed vice president and supervising art director Helen Harwell (Monster, Fargo) was elected as treasurer. Art director and senior set designer Judy Cosgrove (Loot, The Offer) was re-elected as secretary. These executive officers’ terms, which will last three years, begin on June 1.

Darren Starr's primetime soap opera "Melrose Place" debuted on July 8, 1992, initially sold as a spinoff of the ultra-hot "Beverly Hills 90210." The series followed the denizens of the titular apartment complex, said to be located at 4616 Melrose in West Hollywood, California. "Melrose Place" was a massive success and was replete with all the sex, angst, and topical interpersonal drama that typically appeared in a TV series produced by Aaron Spelling. The show lasted seven seasons and 226 episodes. "Melrose Place" birthed a spinoff in 1995 called "Models, Inc." and was revived (with a new cast of characters) for an additional season in 2009.
On "Melrose Place," actor and professional soccer player Andrew Shue played Billy Campbell, an aspiring screenwriter, cab driver, ad executive, or newspaperman, depending on what season you're watching. Billy had romantic dalliances and/or married multiple "Melrose" characters, most notably Alison (Courtney Thorne-Smith), but also Amanda (Heather Locklear), Brooke (Kristen Davis), who died tragically,...

Kim Cattrall reportedly received $1 million for her upcoming appearance in the Sex and the City spinoff series And Just Like That.
This news comes after Cattrall feuded with her Sex and the City co-stars over the salary she received on the HBO show.
Variety reported in March that Cattrall filmed her And Just Like That… scenes without speaking to her castmates Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon and Kristen Davis.
Cattrall played Samantha in Sex and the City for six seasons between 1998 and 2004 as well as two movies. But the actress declined to make an appearance in the third film, requesting more money after earning an estimated $10 million for the second movie.
In July, Cosmopolitan reported that Cattrall would not make a cameo in And Just Like That… for any less than $1 million due to the bad blood between the star and her former castmates. Some fans supported Cattrall’s decision...

Just a few short days ago we wrote with delight that Kim Cattrall would make a surprise, short appearance in the second season of Max’s “Sex and the City” sequel, “And Just Like That.” Few could have predicted this, as she and the series star Sarah Jessica Parker have been pretty open about their fractured relationship, and that Cattrall’s character was effectively written out in the first season.
Someone else who learned about Cattrall’s involvement from a story just like ours (maybe even ours!) was “Sex and the City” and “And Just Like That” star Evan Handler, who plays Kristen Davis’s husband Harry. “I learned it the same day you did,” he said in an interview with “People.”
He confirmed that Cattrall’s short performance—a phone call—was produced like a surgical strike. “Apparently, [her cameo] was shot in the garage somewhere with no contact with anybody,...

Change is in the air for Season 2 of “And Just Like That.” Max has released the first official trailer for the second installment of its “Sex and the City” spinoff series, which is set to premiere June 22 on the streaming service.
“You don’t move on because you’re ready to. You move on because you’ve outgrown who you used to be,” Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker) says in the first moments of the trailer.
Mostly composed of quick jokes from this upcoming season, the video doesn’t offer many details about what fans can expect. But it’s still possible to piece together some upcoming plot points. Carrie, a year removed from the death of Big (Chris North), has officially returned to her iconic Manhattan apartment. Even more surprisingly, she actually uses her stove to boil an egg, a place that only used to serve as extra storage.

It’s a Manhattan miracle—Kim Cattrall will be returning to the role of Samantha for Season 2 of “And Just Like That,” the “Sex and the City” sequel series. Variety was the first site to report this news.
But don’t expect a glorious reunion of Cattrall, Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, and Kristen Davis all downing Cosmos and laughing like the old days. As per TV Line, Max’s “Sex and the City” sequel will only boast the former series regular in a cameo role—on the telephone with Parker’s lead character Carrie (a persona loosely based on author Candace Bushnell’s NYC adventures).
Word is that Catrall and Parker did not speak or see one another during the shoot (but she was reportedly costumed by “Satc”’s longtime wardrobe head Patricia Field). The two performers are not fond of one another and have been feuding for some time,...

Sex and the City was full of raunchy scenes that the show’s cast Kim Cattrall and her co-stars had to indulge in. But there was one sequence in the hit HBO television series Cattrall felt her character Samantha would never do.
Kim Cattrall once had a scene rewritten because she thought it was too inappropriate for ‘Sex and the City’ Kim Cattrall | Dia Dipasupil/Getty Images
Part of the appeal of Sex and the City was the show’s loose and groundbreaking sense of humor. The series would depict its main cast in many outrageous situations in their attempt to find love in New York. Cattrall was at the center of many of the show’s antics, even disrobing occasionally for her character’s love scenes. But there was one Sex and the City scene Cattrall felt was crossing a line.

Sarah Jessica Parker and Cynthia Nixon have starred as Carrie Bradshaw and Miranda Hobbes in Sex & the City and its sequels since the ’90s. The two actors have something else in common, too. They both began their careers when they were very young and appeared in a movie together as young teens.
Parker first appeared on Broadway in The Innocents when she was 11 years old. Two years later she played the starring role in Annie. She went on to star in the early ’80s sitcom Square Pegs before her roles in major films such as Footloose and Girls Just Want to Have Fun.
Nixon was also a preteen actor with her first role being in an ABC Afterschool Special. Her film debut was in 1980’s Little Darlings, and in that same year, she first appeared on Broadway.

Sex and the City was appointment TV in the 1990s. Every Sunday night audiences sat down to see what was going on in the lives of Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker), Samantha Jones (Kim Cattrall), Charlotte York (Kristen Davis), and Miranda Hobbs (Cynthia Nixon).
The series was based on the book of the same name by Candace Bushnell.
When the 6th and final season came to a close, Carrie ended up with her true love Mr. Big (Chris Noth), and we finally learned his real name.
The Sex & the City movie came out a few years later, and we saw Big leave Carrie at the altar, but the two finally tied the knot at the end.
We don’t need to go into the second movie…

Candace Bushnell is the creator of the “Sex and the City” column that existed in the New York Observer, which was soon turned into a book of essays of the same name.
In a recent interview in the New Yorker, Bushnell expressed her feelings on the Sex and the City reboot And Just Like That…, which explores the lives of Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker), Miranda Hobbes (Cynthia Nixon) and Charlotte York (Kristen Davis) and how they navigate their 50s.
“I don’t look at the TV show the way other people look at it…I don’t parse every little bit,” she explained, adding, “It’s a great show, it’s really funny. But there are fans who…it’s like, that show really guides them.”
Candace admits she was “startled” by some of the creative decisions made by And Just Like That creators Michael Patrick King and Darren Star regarding her characters.

Candace Bushnell, the author whose 1996 book anthology “Sex and the City” was adapted into the iconic HBO series of the same name, was left “really startled” by sequel series “And Just Like That.” Bushnell dropped her “And Just Like That” reaction during a recent interview with The New Yorker. “And Just Like That” polarized “Sex and the City” fans with storylines such as Big’s death and Miranda’s decision to divorce her husband Steve after falling in love with a nonbinary queer comedian.
“I’m really startled by a lot of the decisions made in the reboot,” Bushnell said. “You know, it’s a television product, done with Michael Patrick King and Sarah Jessica Parker, who have both worked with HBO a lot in the past. HBO decided to put this franchise back into their hands for a variety of reasons, and this is what they came up with.

[Editor’s Note: The following review contains spoilers for “And Just Like That,” including the finale, Episode 10.]
“And Just Like That” — the HBO Max sequel to HBO’s “Sex and the City” — wrapped its 10-episode season on Thursday, after two months spent stirring the discourse into a frenzy. Parsing the success of any TV show in 2022 is a difficult task, whether you’re assessing its overall quality or quantitative impact, but “And Just Like That” is trickier still: Reviews are across the board. Ratings, while strong, have only been reported by HBO Max. Now the finale has left enough lingering questions to leave audiences wondering if a Season 2 is in the offing. What’s to make of the characters’ contentious choices? Does “And Just Like That” help or harm “Sex and the City’s” TV legacy? And, perhaps most pressing of all, will we ever see Che Diaz again? IndieWire’s TV Critic Ben Travers and TV Awards Editor Libby Hill try to answer these questions and...

Costume designer Molly Rogers said that she “pinched [herself] every day” working on “And Just Like That.”
“It was just the dream to reunite with everybody,” Rogers told Variety. “Everybody is so familiar with the [‘Sex and the City’] girls, that DNA of their clothing was really set in stone from the original show — so it was just about finding new designers and seeing who’s out there now… and, of course, their classic go-tos.”
This is not Rogers’ first time in the “Sex and the City” universe. Rogers, who serves as costume designer for the HBO Max reboot alongside Danny Santiago, was polishing off Carrie Bradshaw’s (Sarah Jessica Parker) trendy belted dresses and endless supply of heels from the very beginning — working in the costume department for both the original show and two subsequent films, when Patricia Field headed the franchise’s style.

The Sex and the City franchise could be grinding to a halt in the wake of sexual assault allegations against Chris Noth.
Us Weekly reports that negotiations were underway for a second season of follow-up And Just Like That..., but "all those conversations have stopped" in recent weeks.
"There was talk about doing another season, but after the past few days all those conversations have stopped. Everyone is raw," an insider claimed to the outlet.
And Just Like That... made a splashy debut on HBO Max earlier this month, with the series premiere killing off Noth's Mr. Big.
It seemed like the only was up for the franchise, with the streamer declaring the series a success.
A week after its debut, two women using the pseudonyms Zoe and Lily accused Noth of sexual assault.
The Hollywood Reporter aired the article, saying the both women approached the outlet months apart.
Noth denied the accusations.

Page Six has learned that Chris Noth, also known as Mr. Big, will not reprise his role in the upcoming reboot of “Sex and the City,” titled “And Just Like That,” on HBO Max. Carrie’s on-and-off love interest over the course of the original show’s six seasons, Big ended up with Sarah Jessica Parker’s character at the end of the series and the two were finally married in the follow-up movies despite some rocky moments along the way. So how will the creative team write him out of the show? That isn’t yet known, though IndieWire has reached out to HBO representatives for comment.
Chris Noth will be joining Kim Cattrall, who played Samantha Jones, as the no-shows in “And Just Like That.” Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, and Kristen Davis will all be returning to the reboot as Carrie, Miranda, and Charlotte, respectively, and they...

Nearly 17 years since the show ended on HBO, “Sex and the City” is coming back in the form of a reboot titled “And Just Like That,” named for one of columnist Carrie Bradshaw’s classic quips. While the series will pick up back in New York City with The Girls now in their 50s, one key element missing will be Kim Cattrall, who starred as the outspoken and sex-positive Samantha Jones. The actress has long been vocal about never wanting to return to Darren Star’s beloved franchise, which also spawned two movies, and so now the new version headed to HBO Max has to get creative about how it will explain the fan-favorite character’s absence.
HBO and HBO Max chief content officer Casey Bloys offered some insight into how that will happen in a recent interview with TV Line. “They’re not trying to say that these characters are reliving their 30s,...

When Sex and the City finally returns to the air, it will not be sidestepping Covid-19, it has been announced.
And Just Like That, the title of the new series, will bring back Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, and Kristen Davis.
Kim Cattrall has been vocal about not wanting to reprise her role in any capacity, so she will not be back for the project.
New York City was essentially a character in its original run, and that will largely be the case during the ten-episode revival.
But this will be a very different city than the one we fell in love with all those years ago.
Parker opened up to Vanity Fair, announcing that Covid-19 will "obviously be part of the storyline, because that’s the city [these characters] live in, and how has that changed relationships once friends disappear? I have great faith that the writers are going to examine it all.

Although some important people in front and behind the cameras won't be along for the adventure, HBO Max has given the Sex and the City revival a greenlight.
And Just Like That... is the title of the new series and will star Sarah Jessica Parker, Kristen Davis, and former NY gubernatorial candidate Cynthia Nixon.
That's right! Carrie, Charlotte, and Miranda are going to set the city on fire... again.
Those who won't be along for the ride?
Darren Star, the original series' creator, is very busy elsewhere, so Michael Patrick King, an Emmy-winning director for Sex and the City, will be taking over the reins after writing and directing both feature films.
Kim Cattrall, who played Samantha, is not involved. There was a known feud between Cattrall and Parker, and in 2017, Cattrall put a pin in speculation that she'd be involved with any future endeavors, even going so far as to suggest a recast,...

Faizon Love sued Universal Pictures today, accusing it of violating California’s fair employment and civil rights laws with the international poster for its 2009 comedy movie Couples Retreat, calling it an “act of racism.” It also claims the studio reneged on a promise to get Love future roles when they originally sought to placate him over the controversy.
Love co-starred in the movie with Vince Vaughn, Kristen Bell, Jason Bateman, Malin Ackerman, Jon Favreau, Kristen Davis and Kali Hawk as a quartet of couples who travel to a tropical island where marriage therapy classes are a requirement.
Filed on Wednesday in Los Angeles Superior Court, the 45-page suit (read it here) from Love and his loan-out company The Burning House recounted that Universal’s marketing for the film in domestic markets during its original featured all four couples in the key art. Hey, "Labor Of Love" fans. Tonight, July 9, 2020, another new "Labor Of Love" episode did indeed air with headliner Kristy Katzmann and host Kristen Davis, and another unlucky guy was sent packing. Tonight's episode kicked off with Kristy visiting Austin,Texas to visit Kyle's hometown. On their date, they went on a walk and ended up at a child birth class. During the class, all the men were instructed to give the ladies massages in places that would normally be considered inappropriate like their rear and thighs. So, Kyle was definitely enjoying this class. Later on, Kristy talked with Kyle's friends. They obviously had good things to say about Kyle, which Kristy enjoyed. Kyle took Kristy to his small, one-bedroom apartment. Kristy told the private cams of Kyle's place, "It's definitely taking me out of my comfort zone. It tells me he's not ready to start a family."...
