Wojciech Jarosz
- Visual Effects
Wojciech Jarosz is an Assistant Professor of Computer Science at Dartmouth College and co-founder of the Visual Computing Lab. Before coming to Dartmouth, he was a Senior Research Scientist heading the rendering group at Disney Research Zürich, and an adjunct lecturer at ETH Zürich. His research in computer graphics is concerned with capturing, simulating, manipulating, and physically realizing how light interacts with its environment. In effect, he strives to understand why things look the way they do, how to simulate their interaction with light efficiently, how to intuitively author or edit that appearance, and how to create physical objects with control over their appearance. His work in these areas has been incorporated into production rendering systems and has been used in the making of feature films, including Disney's Tangled, Frozen, and Big Hero 6. In 2013, he received the Eurographics Young Researcher Award - the most prestigious early career award for European researchers in computer graphics.
