Onyinye Egenti is a Film Director who trained originally as a lawyer, completing an undergraduate Law degree and attending Law School in Abuja, Nigeria. She qualified as a solicitor and worked for a couple of years in the corporate legal sector before making a long-considered decision to switch to studying Filmmaking at London Film School in the United Kingdom. She was trained originally on 35mm and 16mm and graduated as a Director/Writer with a Distinction in her MA degree. After her graduation film was long-listed to compete in the 39th Student Academy Awards, she became a Berlinale Talent Campus Alumna in 2013.
Her second short film, Oh Geno" starring real-life soul singer, Geno Washington, was screened at BAFTA in 2018 as part of the Tri-force Film Festival and it received limited release in select UK Theatres and Cinemas. Her written work is consistently selected for participation in national and regional development platforms across the United Kingdom which include 2016 & 2017 London Calling PLUS, Film London's MICROWAVE in 2017 where her debut feature film project reached the penultimate stage of development, and EIFF's Flagship 2019 Talent Lab Connects for UK-based Directors and Producers. She was selected to participate in BBC London Voices 2022 and is a shadow writer on High-end Netflix KAOS TV show in development. Her debut feature film, "A Season in Talgarreg" is in development.
