A demand for LSD made by one of his actors during the shoot of their film M Cream left director Agneya Singh in complete shock. After all, when the debutant director kept stressing on his actors to bring realism to their characters in their scenes, little had he imagined that it would get him into a far more complicated situation than he had bargained for.
Now, there are several instances when actors have gone that extra mile to get under the skin of their characters. So, actors taking to alcohol to play alcoholics, or actors following certain diets to look the part is quite acceptable and even encouraged by the filmmakers. However, Agneya Singh was at a loss of words when one of the actors on the sets of his upcoming film M Cream requested him to get them some LSD while shooting to infuse some realism in one of the crucial scenes.

In writer-director Agneya Singh’s first feature film, M Cream, four entitled, privileged Delhi twenty-somethings — Maggie (Auritra Ghosh), Niz (Raaghav Chanana), Jay (Ira Dubey) and Figs (Imaad Shah) head off on a road trip in search of a mythical drug, M Cream. Along the way, they have the opportunity to explore political issues, hook up with an aging American hippie (played by theatre director Barry John), attend a rave, take an LSD trip in an orange grove, write some poetry, and save some trees.
Singh’s film attempts to explore the effects of a changing India on his own young generation, and wants to show us how they, as a generation, navigate and make sense of those changes, and how they learn to adapt to the world – or, how they make their world adapt to them.
The film asks, in a sense, what it means to be a rebel or a revolutionary.

Another week, another rom-com. This week it was Love BreakUps Zindagi, a film from the newly formed production house Born Free Entertainment, the baby of Dia Mirza, Zayed Khan and Sahil Sangha. The promos gave a fresh vibe and hence, despite the lead roles being played by not-so-inspiring actors like Zayed and Dia, I sat down to watch Love Breakups Zindagi hoping to be surprised. Even though Lbz didn’t surprise me, didn’t entertain me much, it wasn’t a total disappointment either. Directed by Sahil Sangha, the cast also included Cyrus Sahukar, Umang Jain, Tisca Chopra, Satyadeep Misra, Auritra Ghosh, Pallavi Sharda, and Vaibhav Talwar.
Jai (Zayed Khan) and Naina (Dia Mirza) are young, successful and upmarket, so is their circle of friends. Stuck in unsatisfactory relationships, they meet at their friends’ wedding and sparks fly. If you are a fan of Bollywood, no matter where you are in the world, I bet at some point you have had daydreams of being a star in a Bollywood film. You could see yourself romancing your favorite hero or heroine and perhaps even dancing in the rain or on a mountaintop in Switzerland. If as a young child you also loved to dance, sing or act then Bollywood was not only a daydream, it was your goal. Even while growing up in Australia, Pallavi Sharda had dreams of dancing and acting in Hindi cinema and was always involved in theater and dance; she is trained in the classical dance Bharatha Natyam. Pallavi went the academic route after High School, but finally the call of being in films became too loud and she decided to try her luck in Mumbai. Her first big break was starring opposite Manoj Bajpayee in Dus Tola.
