- Katherine "Kate" Imp, born to Barbara Imp, a medical technologist, and Raymond Imp, a finance executive, grew up in Darien, IL and Mt. Laurel, NJ. She graduated from the University of Maryland-College Park with a B.A. in Criminology & Criminal Justice and thereafter moved to Florida to work for Outward Bound, leading wilderness trips for at-risk youth. Kate later went on to receive her J.D. from the University of Illinois College of Law.
Influenced by her experience with Outward Bound and her love for the show Survivor (2000), Kate graduated law school a semester early to thru-hike the 2178.3-mile Appalachian Trail from Georgia to Maine with her brother, Brandon Imp, and friend, Emily Ginger. She simultaneously produced, directed and starred in a documentary entitled, Beauty Beneath the Dirt (2012), which captured the ups and downs of her 5-month journey along the Appalachian Trail.
Influenced by her experience as a film producer, Kate transitioned her legal practice from toxic tort litigation in Chicago, IL to transactional entertainment in Los Angeles, CA. Kate is now an attorney in the Media, Sport and Entertainment sector of the Intellectual Property and Technology practice group of the prestigious, global law firm, DLA Piper LLP.
