Harvey Guillén, who portrays Guillermo in What We Do In The Shadows, has given us a hint of what’s coming up in the sixth and final season for the show and his character.
“We start where we left off and sometimes dreams and aspirations don’t turn out the way we want them to, (spoiler alert if you haven’t seen Season 5)”, he told Deadline on the red carpet of the Critics Choice Awards, last night where he was nominated in the supporting actor category. “But I think that’s the whole point of rebirth right? It’s like a renaissance. It’s happening again and you take a new direction, new ideas, new approach so I’m really excited for the audience to see a new layer to Guillermo.
Asked what he’ll take away most from playing Guillermo? “It’s never too late to find yourself. It...

Last year, FX ordered two more seasons of their vampire comedy series What We Do in the Shadows, which would be the fifth and sixth seasons of the show. Season 5 started airing back in July and wrapped up at the end of August, and we can expect to see season 6 sometime next year. Unfortunately, there’s now a bittersweet edge to knowing that season 6 is on the way, as The Hollywood Reporter has broken the news that the sixth season of What We Do in the Shadows will also be the show’s last.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, FX “will bring its comedy What We Do in the Shadows to a close with its sixth season. The series is entering the back half of a two-season renewal that will take the show to its conclusion.“
A spin-off from Jemaine Clement and Taika Waititi’s horror-comedy mockumentary film of the same title,...

Put a stake in our hearts: The sixth season of vampire comedy series “What We Do in the Shadows” will be its last according to Vulture.
The outlet confirmed that the series begins production on its sixth season next month, and it’ll be the last season for the effortlessly charming vampire roommates.
“What We Do in the Shadows” wrapped its fifth season earlier this summer on FX.
The fifth season picked up after “Nandor feels his familiar (and sometimes friend) Guillermo slipping away as he seems to be spending much more time with Laszlo. Nadja, suffering the effects of a previously-undiagnosed supernatural hex, reconnects with her family — or at least, a family — from the Old Country. Colin pursues the path of so many energy vampires before him by running for political office and The Guide tries to figure out where she fits in as the relative newcomer to this tightly-knit group.

Who was it who said ‘never tell me the odds’? And was it uttered in some distant galaxy’s asteroid hail, or just the butt of a colonoscopy joke? The great gambol of Uncut Gems (2019) lay in its play around predetermined outcomes: how could the Celtics lose? How did you think this would end? The Safdie Brothers saw in sporting spectacle an elementally stressful catharsis: no matter who wins, someone loses. Accept the mystery or obsess over it—some things are set in stones.

FX is celebrating Pride Month this year by giving fans a first look at their favorite queer vampires. The channel has released the trailer for Season 5 of “What We Do in the Shadows,” the critically-acclaimed sitcom adaptation of the mockumentary film.
Released in 2014, the original “What We Do in the Shadows” was directed by Jemaine Clement and Taika Waititi, who also starred in the film as immortal vampires living in suburban New Zealand. The show, which premiered in 2019, takes the basic premise but translates it to America, following another household of vampires living on Staten Island. The roommates in the show include former emperor Nandor the Relentless (Kayvan Novak), married couple Nadja (Natasia Demetriou) and Laszlo (Matt Berry), boring energy vampire Colin Robinson (Mark Proksch), and Nandor’s familiar, Guillermo (Harvey Guillén).

Roughly a month ahead of its return, “What We Do in the Shadows” has released its Season 5 trailer. The first two episodes are set to stream on FX on Hulu Thursday, July 13. After that, the series will return to a weekly release schedule.
Last season ended with Guillermo (Harvey Guillén), a longtime familiar and heir to the vampire-killing Hellsing family, paying the hapless vampire Derek (Chris Sandiford) to secretly turn transform him into an undead monster. That’s exactly where Season 5 picks up. As Guillermo navigates his new and lackluster vampiric powers, he’ll also have to hide what he’s done from his roommates, friends and master.
“I thought the transformation would be overnight, but it’s been 60 days,” Guillermo says in the trailer. “I can’t even turn into a bat.”
Dejected after trying and failing, he finally stands upright and says, “Human form.”

Alex Garland is back with A24 for his latest horror thriller. Titled “Men,” the new film from the Oscar-nominated “Ex Machina” writer-director finds current Best Supporting Actress nominee Jesse Buckley haunted by the death of her husband (Paapa Essiedu) and stalked by numerous men (all seemingly played by Rory Kinnear) during an escape to the countryside.
Due out May 20 in theaters, “Men” was written and directed by Garland and produced by Eli Bush, Andrew Macdonald, and Allon Reich.
Here’s the official synopsis from A24: “In the aftermath of a personal tragedy, Harper (Jessie Buckley) retreats alone to the beautiful English countryside, hoping to have found a place to heal. But someone or something from the surrounding woods appears to be stalking her. What begins as simmering dread becomes a fully-formed nightmare, inhabited by her darkest memories and fears in visionary filmmaker Alex Garland’s feverish, shape-shifting new horror film.

Ashes to ashes, apples to apples, and Jessie Buckley descends into a mouth of madness in “Men.”
Director Alex Garland’s upcoming A24 thriller centers on a woman (Buckley) who plans a countryside holiday while mourning her husband (“I May Destroy You” breakout Paapa Essiedu) who seemingly jumped off of their roof, plunging to his death. Yet Buckley’s character is still haunted by her loss, especially after biting into the “forbidden fruit” on the property of her bed and breakfast.
Buckley starts seeing ghosts — and the face of her innkeeper (Rory Kinnear) — everywhere. How many “Men” is too many? Academy Award nominee Buckley seems to be trapped in a purgatory of her own making, with each male figure demanding she take responsibility for her spouse’s death and the blame for his unhappiness. A24’s “Men” premieres in theaters on May 20.

Exclusive: The BBC is developing A24’s adaptation of 2020 Booker Prize winner Shuggie Bain, Deadline can reveal.
We understand talks have commenced and decision over greenlight will be made by Ben Irving, who will take over as Interim Drama Director from incumbent Piers Wenger in May.
Shuggie Bain producer A24 has hired Wenger and BBC Film Director Rose Garnett to oversee its international slate and for Wenger to sign off the greenlight would likely represent a conflict of interest.
A24 and Scott Rudin Productions won the rights to produce the novel for TV in late 2020. At the time, Scott Rudin and Eli Bush were slated to produce and author Douglas Stuart set to adapt.
Rudin has since been embroiled in scandal after ex-staffers spoke out about his abusive behavior, and he has removed himself from active projects including five films with A24.

Emmy-winning “The Crown” star Josh O’Connor will be the protagonist of Italian auteur Alice Rohrwacher’s next film “La Chimera,” which is set in the world of archeological looting and is currently shooting in and around Southern Tuscany.

After directing the heady FX sci-fi series “Devs,” Alex Garland returns to the realm of auteur horror with his latest film, “Men.” It stars newly minted Academy Award nominee Jessie Buckley (“The Lost Daughter”) in a role that sounds eerily similar to the woman she played in Charlie Kaufman’s “I’m Thinking of Ending Things”: She’s on a sort of nightmarish vacation trip in the countryside, where something haunting is swirling around in her present, and it has to do with men. Watch the first trailer for the A24 film below.

One day after nabbing her first Oscar nomination, Jessie Buckley’s full talents are on display in the first trailer for “Men,” a horror film from A24 and director Alex Garland. It will premiere in theaters May 20.
The official synopsis for “Men” reads: “In the aftermath of a personal tragedy, Harper (Buckley) retreats alone to the beautiful English countryside, hoping to have found a place to heal. But someone or something from the surrounding woods appears to be stalking her. What begins as simmering dread becomes a fully-formed nightmare, inhabited by her darkest memories and fears in Garland’s feverish, shape-shifting new horror film.”
In the trailer, Buckley walks through a vibrant green forest and approaches a foreboding, dark tunnel, all while seeing visions of a mysterious man. The horror film will also star Rory Kinnear and Paapa Essiedu (“I May Destroy You”).

“What We Do in the Shadows” fans who were hoping to see Laszlo Cravensworth (Matt Berry) reprise the role of his alter ego Jackie Daytona in the upcoming third season of the FX comedy won’t be getting their wish, as executive producers say bringing back the fan-favorite fake identity from Season 2 in this next batch of episodes would have been “pandering.”
“I don’t think we could top Jackie Daytona,” “What We Do in the Shadows” executive producer and writer Paul Simms said Friday during a virtual panel for the show at FX’s day presenting for the Television Critics Association’s press tour. “We talked about it, and we felt like it would be pandering to try to bring him back. Stefani, does that sound fair?”

Not long after Scott Rudin issued a statement he will step back from film and TV projects, to go with the voluntary exit from theater projects he announced days ago, sources said that Rudin has stepped away from the five projects he had with A24, this following a THR expose by Tatiana Siegel on Rudin’s recidivist bullying of assistants and others who were powerless to do anything about it. There is no official comment, nor a confirmation that Rudin’s name not appearing in the credits of these films. Here are the pictures Rudin is no longer producing for A24:
The Tragedy of MacBeth, the Joel Coen-directed film that stars Denzel Washington, Frances McDormand, Brendan Gleeson, Ralph Ineson. Coen is now sole producer.
The Humans, the Stephen Karam scripted and directed film that stars Steven Yeun, Beanie Feldstein, Amy Schumer, June Squibb, Richard Jenkins, Jayne Houdyshell. Eli Bush is now sole producer.
