The drones have spoken.
In anticipation of the upcoming season premieres of “Survivor 45” and “The Amazing Race 35,” CBS staged a massive event on Saturday night at Hollywood High School featuring 400 drones. When Survivor returned to air following a 16-month post-pandemic delay, it ushered in a brand new, twist-tastic era: A 26-day game, more diverse casting and smaller tribes weren’t even the half of it. But when Season 43 kicks off Wednesday, Sept. 21 (at 8/7c on CBS), viewers and its castaways are in for some big changes.
While host Jeff Probst has been very clear about which aspects of this new era are sticking around — the shorter game, small tribes, risk/reward dilemmas, earning the merge and Shot in the Dark are all here to stay — he’s put the kibosh on...

Few TV shows make it to Season 43. For every “60 Minutes” (54 seasons) and “Saturday Night Live” (47 seasons), there are hundreds, if not thousands, of television programs that are canceled or ended before they even make it to double digits. But “Survivor” just keeps going. Now the granddaddy of all reality TV shows is gearing up for its 43rd season (and 22nd year), due out in Fall 2022, with Jeff Probst back as host and executive producer. The most recent season, “Survivor 42,” was so captivating, it proves why the series deserves to reclaim its time in the Emmy spotlight.
In a “Survivor” first, a contestant was medically evacuated from the Season 42 premiere when he failed to disclose certain medical information until the day before shooting began. The castaway in question, Jackson Fox, admitted in a candid Q&a with host Probst that he didn’t mention his lithium usage because he was...

‘Survivor 42’ exit interview: [Spoiler] blames Maryanne for shocking elimination — ‘She got me good’
Warning: this story contains spoilers from the May 18 episode of “Survivor 42” — read at your own risk!
“Maryanne got me, she got me good,” sighed Omar Zaheer after being shockingly eliminated during the penultimate episode of “Survivor 42.” The 31-year-old exotic animal veterinarian would have been the first castaway of Muslim faith to ever win CBS’s reality TV show, but his plans were foiled when Maryanne Oketch, Romeo Escobar, Mike Turner and Jonathan Young turned the tables on Omar and Lindsay Dolashewich by voting him out in sixth place. Read on for Omar’s “Survivor 42” exit interview from the end of Episode 12.
“I knew playing with [Maryanne] was like playing with fire and I should have listened to my gut,” Omar declared after having his torch snuffed by host Jeff Probst. “But I was ‘Survivor’ confident and that is the worst thing you can be.” Thus, he became the latest castaway to...

Following the May 4 episode of “Survivor 42,” only seven castaways still have a shot of joining the show’s iconic winners list. Among them is Omar Zaheer, who’s angling to become the first castaway of Muslim faith ever to win “Survivor” after two decades and 41 seasons. As of this writing, the 31-year-old Ontario exotic animal veterinarian is tied for the #1 spot (with Maryanne Oketch) in Gold Derby’s “Survivor 42” predictions, which are determined by our readers.
Omar’s religion has been mentioned a few times on the CBS reality TV show, including in the second episode when he told his Taku tribe mates that he’d be happy to answer any questions they might have. After the merge, Mike Turner watched Omar as he prayed and then started a discussion in order to better educate himself. “We all ain’t that different,” Mike came to realize (watch below). Tori Meehan makes ‘Survivor’ history by winning first 2 individual immunity challenges of the season
Over the course of the first 21 years and 41 seasons of “Survivor,” only one woman had won the first two individual immunity challenges of her season: Laura Morett in 2009’s “Survivor: Samoa.” Now, her long-standing record has been tied by Tori Meehan, who just claimed back-to-back victories in the first two individual immunity challenges of “Survivor 42.” Talk about girl power!
One caveat in mentioning this record is that Laura’s initial immunity win was actually awarded to the best performing male (John Fincher) and female (Laura) of that specific challenge. Tori didn’t have to share either of her two immunity necklaces, which puts her truly in a league of her own when it comes to making “Survivor” history.

The post-merge phase of “Survivor 42” began this week, with Chanelle Howell officially becoming the first member of the jury. Mike Turner, who had started the game with Chanelle as members of the Vati tribe, was the main proponent in wanting her out, considering she cast a stray vote against him in the pre-merge. This, combined with her lack of integration into the newly formed majority alliance caused her to be squeezed out of the game in episode 8. But do you think Chanelle deserved to be voted out this week? Vote in our poll below. (Note: Tori Meehan is not included as an option since she won immunity again.)
After the chaotic third episode of the season, where her choice to risk her vote at the summit caused her to lose it and thus, lead to the destruction of the majority alliance, Chanelle couldn’t really find her footing in the game.

And then there were 11. After last week’s eventual merge, the castaways still in the running to win “Survivor 42” were: Rocksroy Bailey, Tori Meehan, Romeo Escobar, Drea Wheeler, Jonathan Young, Maryanne Oketch, Omar Zaheer, Lindsay Dolashewich, Chanelle Howell, Hai Giang and Mike Turner. A leading alliance of eight people took control in last week’s episode, but with so many idols and advantages in play, there was no telling who might end up having their torch snuffed by Jeff Probst at the end of the hour. So how’d it all play out?

Hey, "Survivor" fans. Tonight, April 20, 2022, another new episode of Survivor season 42 did indeed air, and another contestant got sent packing from the island at the end. Tonight's episode kicked off with some of the contestants talking about what went down at the last tribal council meeting, which sent Lydia Meredith packing. Chanelle told the private cams that she was on the wrong side of the vote at the last tribal council, and that made her concerned. Drea told the private cams, "Romeo is becoming too paranoid and might need to go." Maryanne told the private cams, "I'm at the bottom of the totem pole, and it totally sucks."...

The two-hour merge episode of “Survivor 42” featured the same hourglass twist as last season, making only five of the 12 remaining contestants eligible to be voted out. While multiple names were thrown out as possible targets leading up to the vote, including Jonathan Young and Maryanne Oketch, it was Lydia Meredith who was ultimately booted. While Lydia may not have been the most predicted castaway to be voted out at the “Survivor 42” merge, fans do agree she deserved to go home.

In CBS’s latest “Survivor 42” deleted scene, Mike Turner reflects on his life outside the game (watch above). The moment comes in the morning of Day 12 at the Vati tribe, hours before the “merge” that saw the 12 remaining players entering the individual phase of the competition. “The beauty out there is ridiculous,” says the 58-year-old retired firefighter from New Jersey as he gazes out at the ocean. “It’s amazing how infinite it looks. It’s peaceful, too.”
As angelic music plays in the background, Mike continues on, “We’re at the age now where we reflect on what we were, how we were, what we could have been, my kids, my wife.”

The ex-firefighter then wonders aloud, “You know the biggest regret you have? It’s not thanking the people who affected you in your life in a positive way. You kind of forget about stuff like that.

The “Survivor 42” merge has ushered in an exciting new phase of the game. Like the previous season, the controversial hourglass twist was implemented, allowing one player to flip the results of the previous reward challenge and make the winning team vulnerable. Like Erika Casupanan last year, Rocksroy Bailey elected to turn back time and made himself safe at the first merge vote, along with Chanelle Howell, Drea Wheeler, Mike Turner, Omar Zaheer and Romeo Escobar. This limited the pool of potential eliminations, with Lydia Meredith meeting her untimely demise. But do you think she was the right person to be the merge boot? Vote in our poll below.

Heading into the highly anticipated “merge” episode of “Survivor 42”, the Ika, Taku and Vati tribes were all even at four members apiece. However, even though host Jeff Probst told them to “drop your buffs,” he then added it’s “not exactly” a merge. “In fact, you are not merged. You will not be officially merged until after the next tribal council. Like everything else in this game, you are going to earn your way into the merge,” he told the 12 remaining players. Daniel Strunk became the sixth person eliminated from “Survivor 42” last week, a decision by the Vati tribe with which many fans agree. The young law clerk suffered what could have been a game-ending shoulder injury in the very first episode of the season, but he stuck it out through five episodes before his tribe couldn’t carry him any longer. His strategic game did not help matters, having made a spectacle at Vati’s first Tribal Council in Episode 3, causing his tribemates to lose trust in him. Ultimately, “Survivor” fans approved of Daniel’s ouster.
In last week’s poll, where we asked you to pick who deserved to go home from the Vati tribe, Daniel earned a whopping 71 of the vote. This is far more decisive than any poll this season thus far. Chanelle Howell, who was also offered as a potential boot in Episode 5, amassed most of the other votes,...

Daniel Strunk finally met his demise at the end of the fifth episode of “Survivor 42.” After dislocating his shoulder in the very first challenge of the season, the 30-year-old law clerk struggled through the physical portions of the game, and his strategy wasn’t much better. Remember back in 2020’s “Survivor: Winners at War” when Sandra Diaz-Twine repeatedly sat out challenges? It prompted many fans to wonder about the long-standing rule regarding sitting out back-to-back comps. At the time, former winner Sarah Lacina explained, “The rule is you can’t sit out the reward challenge then the immunity challenge. Since we are having immunity/reward challenges, the rule doesn’t apply in this situation.”
Two years later, during the fifth episode of “Survivor 42,” Jeff Probst remarked on Daniel Strunk doing the same thing. “Again Daniel gonna sit out,” the host stated with a bit of a surprised tone. But don’t worry, Daniel didn’t break any rules, just like Queen Sandra didn’t. Since “Survivor 42” is having combined reward/immunity challenges, that means tribes with extra people are allowed to sit out the same player episode to episode.

‘Survivor 42’ deleted scene: Daniel and Chanelle argue over her ‘betrayal’ at tribal council [Watch]
In this week’s “Survivor 42” deleted scene (watch above), Daniel Strunk and Chanelle Howell are seen arguing after their tribe’s disastrous tribal council. To recap, Daniel and Chanelle went into that tribal council aligned together, and she secretly mouthed the word “Lydia” to him, suggesting he should vote out Lydia Meredith. But then Chanelle discovered she didn’t have a vote after losing it at the summit journey, so she couldn’t join him in sending home Lydia. That resulted in a tied vote, followed by a second tie, and then an open discussion, with Jenny Kim eventually being booted.

“Survivor 42” fans could not disagree more with who went home at the end of Episode 3. The messy Tribal Council featured two tie votes followed by a deliberation that ultimately led to Jenny Kim being voted out of the Vati tribe. The 42-year-old creative director was one of the more levelheaded players in the game, but the minority alliance of Hai Giang and Lydia Meredith targeted her, with the former persuading Daniel Strunk to change his vote to Jenny. But fans have a very different take on who should have been voted out in Episode 3.

Episode 3 of “Survivor 42” featured an unprecedented moment when the tumultuous waves of the ocean led to the show’s producers stopping the Immunity Challenge. But those waves were nothing compared to Tribal Council, with two of the six Vati tribe mates unable to vote, a tie in the final voting and a hostile discussion that led to Jenny Kim being eliminated by consensus. But do you think Jenny deserved to be voted out? Cast your vote in our poll below.
Jenny was in the majority alliance on her tribe, forming a bond with Chanelle Howell, Daniel Strunk and Mike Turner, with Hai Giang and Lydia Meredith in the minority. Their plan going into Tribal Council was to take out Lydia, but a twist and an advantage got in the way. Mike was not permitted to vote because he had not yet activated the idol from his Beware Advantage, while Chanelle...

Heading into the third episode of “Survivor 42,” the Taku tribe was all kumbaya after sending home Marya Sherron in a unanimous vote. They were now the smallest tribe at four (after also losing Jackson Fox due to medical reasons). Meanwhile, the Ika tribe was at five members (after voting out Zach Wurtenberger) while the Vati tribe was still strong at six people. Did the numbers get more evened out on Wednesday night?

Lydia Meredith is a lot of things: actress, writer, bartender, waitress. But now she’s filling another role as one of the castaways on “Survivor 42.” The Santa Monica native says in her CBS interview that she hopes to be seen as “the loving, fun little sister” by her fellow tribemates. That reputation will allow her, she reasons, to “gather all the knowledge that I possibly can and use that as my advantage in the game” (watch below).
While Lydia is self-deprecating about not always looking like a big thinker, she notes that on the inside, she’s always deep in thought. “My brain never shuts off,” she reveals. “It’s never over until it’s over, and I 100% will always keep fighting until I die, basically.” She adds that she is ready for whatever “Survivor” host Jeff Probst sends her way, a good attitude to have in this twist-heavy era of the show.

Just like last year, the 18 all-new cast members of “Survivor 42” will start out the game on three different tribes. Whomever outwits, outplays and outlasts all of the others will be rewarded with a cool $1 million check at the end of the season. Scroll down to see which castaways are on each of the “Survivor 42” tribes: Ika, Taku and Vati.

"Why would you allow yourself to feel that way?" Freestyle Digital Media has released an official trailer for an indie romantic comedy called Catching Up, marking the feature directorial debut of filmmaker Bill Crossland. This first premiered at the Heartland and New Orleans Film Festivals last year. Bill Crossland also stars in the film as a romantically inexperienced young man with muscular dystrophy named Frank who struggles to win the love of his able-bodied crush while posing as a boyfriend for his closeted best friend. Crossland looks to be telling a very personal story, while also trying to have some romcom fun as well. The film's cast includes Francesca Carpanini, Isabella Pisacane, Johnathan Fernandez, Sam Daly, Jared Michael Delaney, Caroline Duncan, and Lydia Meredith. His main love interest in this looks a lot like Rachel McAdams. This seems like a very charming, brutally honest take on love as a disabled person.
