The Mighty Boosh’s Julian Barratt and Yonderland’s Simon Farnaby talk to us about their Isle of Man action comedy, Mindhorn...
When you get to chat to two comedy geniuses at once, it doesn’t feel much like an interview. It’s more like sitting in on some well-honed hilarity, and trying not to make a tit of yourself when you try and interject with a question. This is what it felt like when I sat down with Julian Barratt and Simon Farnaby for twenty minutes, in a snazzy central London meeting room, to talk about Mindhorn.

Over the past few years Belgium has very quietly put together a run of impressive crime thrillers that stand with the very best in the world and it would appear that the latest entry in that streak of excellence may be Nabil Ben Yadir's Blind Spot (Dode Hoek). Dode Hoek (Blind Spot) is the story of Jan Verbeeck, the uncompromising commissioner of the Antwerp drug squad. Known as Mr. Zero Tolerance, he is hugely popular with the people and the media. The country is thrown into commotion when he announces that he is leaving the police force just before the elections to join the extreme right party, Vpv. On his last day as a policeman, he leads an investigation that takes him to Charleroi where...

Although werewolves, ghosts, and aliens have made life anything but normal in King Falls, the town is not open to the wacky hijinks and bizarre antics of April Fools’ Day. Happy birthday to Pat Metheny (born August 12, 1954), one of the few jazz superstars of the past four decades to combine commercial success and critical plaudits. After paying his dues in Gary Burton's band (which he joined at age 19), Metheny put out his first album in 1976 and by the time of his third release two years later was gaining crossover radio play. Though the style of his eponymous band was smooth and tuneful, Metheny had a firm basis in jazz and straight-ahead guitarist gods such as Jim Hall (with whom he eventually recorded a fine duo album).
With success came the challenge of avoiding complacency, which Metheny has met masterfully with a wide-ranging series of albums in a variety of stylistic bags, from atonal skronk to mellow Brazilian, from thorny Ornette Coleman covers to mercurial bebop. Along the way he has lent his prestige to both respected elders (Hall, Burton, Coleman,...

Once Bitten: Cailley’s Unique Exploration of Summer Lovin’
Since premiering at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival, where it picked up the Fipresci Prize in the Directors’ Fortnight sidebar, Thomas Cailley’s directorial debut, Love at First Fight has been treated to generous critical acclaim. Nabbing three César Awards in February, including for Best First Film, Most Promising Actor, and a Best Actress award for Adele Haenel (trumping competition that included Juliette Binoche and Marion Cotillard). Basically a romantically inclined drama that subverts its conventions by playing around a bit with gender norms, its winning protagonists make this strangely and unpredictably funny film quite charming. Its original title, Les Combattants literally means The Fighters, which would have been much preferred to the horrid English language surrogate.

At first glance today's MPAA ratings bulletin didn't appear to include much of interest. Hell, I thought the G rating for the upcoming Disney short film "Frozen Fever", which will premiere in front of the live action Cinderella on March 13 might be the biggest title. But then I looked a little closer and a few more started to pop out. First off there's the much talked about horror film It Follows, which has secured a grisly R-rating and then there's Slow West starring Michael Fassbender and Kodi Smit-McPhee, which A24 picked up at Sundance. And Sisters, the upcoming Tina Fey and Amy Poehler comedy that has secured itself a nice R-rating. Finally, Anomalisa is the new stop motion animated film from Charlie Kaufman, co-directed by Duke Johnson. The picture was started via Kickstarter and features the voices of Jennifer Jason Leigh, David Thewlis and Tom Noonan. The film does not,...

Stephen Davis has always been an easy target for schoolyard bullies. The 15-year-old freshman at Streamwood High School in Elgin, Illinois, has been the brunt of cruel jokes and pranks since he was in first grade. At 330 lbs., he's often ridiculed for his size. "I'm big," Davis told CBS Chicago. "I get bullied a lot during the school day. I shake it off. Basically, it's background noise to me." So Davis wasn't too surprised Thursday when another student sketched a buck-toothed, bug-eyed cartoon of him on the electronic whiteboard in his math class. But then, things took a shocking turn...

The most prominent Israeli filmmakers in recent years have produced heavily politicized work (Amos Gitai) or focused on the impact of the country's political situation on day to day social life (Eytan Fox). "Zero Motivation," the debut feature writer-director Talya Lavie, stands out for resisting either of those categories even as it acknowledges the bigger picture. An offbeat comedy about several disgruntled female soldiers stationed at a remote human resources office in the middle of the desert, the movie engages with gender imbalance and satirizes the aimlessness of military bureaucracy while retaining a disarmingly personal quality. It's a softly humorous and sad story about the frustrations of young women thrust into the military complex who air their grievances with snark. Its critical angle only emerges by implication. The closest point of comparison with "Zero Tolerance" is Robert Altman's "Mash," which depicted the goofy antics of a Vietnam-era outpost even as the horrors of.

Yes, "Teen Wolf" fans. That happened. Allison Argent died at the end of "Insatiable." It's not a joke and there aren't any take-backs.
There is also one episode left before the Season 3 finale. Think about that -- and be afraid.
Spot the Stiles!
Ok, so there are two Stileses now. That's not confusing or anything. It's especially confusing since one of the Stiles people is totally and completely evil, while the other is mostly just freaked out. Oh, and he's dying of a dull ache and being really cold too.
Meanwhile, the nogitsune version of Stiles has bolted back to Eichen House with Lydia. His purpose? He mostly just wants to torment her for a fear-snack until the others show up to save the banshee. At that point, Evil Stiles has other, more nefarious plans.
Tough times for Twins
They have been de-flied, so the Twins aren't evil zombies anymore.

Robert May’s doc Kids for Cash is based on a judicial miscarriage that makes some of us want to grab a pitchfork and … Sorry. Emotions run riot in the faces of children sent by the thousands to a for-profit juvenile-detention center by a Luzerne County, Pennsylvania, judge named Mark Ciavarella, later convicted of receiving kickbacks. The kids’ offenses were as minor as shoplifting DVDs and, most notoriously, creating a satirical MySpace page that made fun of a vice-principal—years for sass.Surprisingly, Ciavarella sat down for extended interviews with May and comes off as even tempered. (“I’m not this mad judge.”) He disputes taking a bribe for every kid convicted, admitting only to accepting a finder’s fee upwards of $2 million for helping to get the center built. But he doesn’t repent his judicial philosophy. May’s chief focus is so-called Zero Tolerance, whereby the threat of...

The MPAA has updated its anti-piracy guidelines and is asking theater employees to police the audience and report potential piracy, TorrentFreak.com reports. In the MPAA's updated "Best Practices to Prevent Film Theft" guide for movie theaters, the agency recommends that theater owners prohibit the use of any equipment that can record audio, video or take photographers, including, presumably camera phones. "The MPAA recommends that theaters adopt a Zero Tolerance policy that prohibits the video or audio recording and the taking of photographs of any portion of a movie," the MPAA states in the updated guide, which is available here. Theater employees are reminded that pirates can hide small cameras in all sorts of places, including candy boxes or a beverage container. "Movie thieves are very ingenious when it comes to concealing cameras. It may be as simple as placing a coat or hat over the camera, or as innovative...
