Normally logistical issues like space rentals and permitting are meant to be invisible to the audience, left in the furthest background of any TV show. But Season 4 of “We’re Here” is as much about the struggles of making the series as it is about the drag performances the show’s queens put on in different parts of the United States. The HBO series not only introduced a new cast of queens this year but changed its filming approach so that it could go where it was needed most: the states imposing drag bans and making the pursuit of happiness difficult for their own LGBTQ communities.
The biggest shift, according to showrunner, director, and executive producer Peter LoGreco, was the amount of time that “We’re Here” spent in a given location. In past seasons, the series moved from state to state for each episode. But given how legislatively hostile the environments...

If television is a snapshot of our times, there are several moments in the fourth season of HBO’s groundbreaking reality docuseries “We’re Here” that should be a major wake-up call for anyone who believes in free speech, human rights, and artistic expression in the United States. After the events in season three, which saw the show face vocal opposition in visits to Florida and St. George, Utah, it’s hard to imagine things could get worse, but for many in small-town America, it’s reached an infection point.

In a world where the shadows of intolerance loom, the spectacle of We’re Here emerges not just as a beacon of light but as a bold declaration of presence. HBO’s groundbreaking series created by Stephen Warren and Johnnie Ingram, began in 2020, with Shangela, Bob the Drag Queen, and Eureka at the helm. This features drag icons Priyanka, Jaida Essence Hall, Sasha Velour, and Latrice Royale, takes the art of drag into Tennessee and Oklahoma, transforming not only stages but hearts and minds along the way.
At the outset of its fourth season, We’re Here sets a tone that connects deeply with current events. Amidst the backdrop of news clips announcing the banning of drag performances in Tennessee, the visual contrast of Priyanka, Jaida Essence Hall, and Sasha Velour preparing for their performances encapsulates a fight not just for the spotlight, but for life itself. The series dives into the...

Season 4 of “We’re Here” sees new hosts Priyanka, Sasha Velour, Latrice Royale and Jaida Essence Hall travelling to red states Tennessee and Oklahoma, where safety had become a concern at times because of anti-lgbtq protests and threats. “It was frightening sometimes,” Jaida told me Wednesday night at the season premiere screening and party at the Avalon Hollywood. “It was eye-opening, imagining other people like myself who have to live in those spaces and see that every day. It’s just heartbreaking.”
Series co-creator Steve Warren said, “It’s surreal we had to think about our security. We are living in 2024. Ten years ago we were so hopeful. Marriage equality had just passed. We were living in a space where we thought we’re not going to have to fight the old battles.”
Even so, the new season continues to help its participants — and cast and crew, for that matter — heal.

The National LGBTQ Task Force — a nonprofit that describes itself as “the progressive voice of the LGBTQ movement” — has set its sights on Miami as the host city for the 27th annual Task Force Gala on Oct. 14. The ceremony, presented by St. John’s on the Lake United Methodist Church, will honor Pose breakout Dominique Jackson with a national leadership award during a program that also features co-hosts Latrice Royale and Dyllón Burnside and performances by Anne Steele, Robbie Elias and Tango Libertad.
Taking place in a year that marks the Task Force’s 50th anniversary and in October which marks LGBTQ history month, the event is being presented with the theme “Forever Strong, Unapologetically Queer,” a sentiment that can be applied to the org’s choice to host such an event in Florida, a state that has emerged as a battleground in the fight between conservative lawmakers and LGBTQ citizens.

Now, they will tackle two U.S. towns over the course of six episodes, taking an in-depth look at the local political systems and participants, anti-lgbtq+ legislation and opposition, and their effect on the queer community.
Season 4 marks the first season that Latrice Royale, Priyanka, Sasha Velour and Jaida Essence Hall will take over for Bob the Drag Queen, Eureka O’Hara and Shangela, who previously led the series in its first three seasons.

Each week on “Whatcha Packin’,” Michelle Visage interviews the recently eliminated queen and shows us some of the runway looks they didn’t get the chance to use on the show. Following her episode 10 elimination, Malaysia Babydoll Foxx discusses the value of being “authentically you” on television and in life. Watch the full episode above via the official RuPaul’s Drag Race channel on YouTube.
In her interview with Michelle, Malaysia talks about how special it is that she’s surrounded by a supportive family despite growing up in a church community that is typically more conservative. She explained that the only part of coming out that was hard for her was the fear of disappointing her mother and until that happened she struggled being proud of herself. Malaysia also touched on what it’s like to build a career in Miami and how she’s worked with celebrities like Trina,...

There has been a lot of discussions online about the differences between a normal series of Drag Race with the snatch game and Drag Race All-Stars seasons that have the snatch game of love. While I personally prefer the regular snatch game, I do believe that there needs to be a difference between the challenges on the normal and All-Star seasons. To match the step-up of overall drag quality and performance of the drag queens there needs to be something a little different about the challenges, especially the drag race challenge staples. I thought that it was fairly obvious as to which queens were at the bottom of last weeks episode due to the groups they appeared in. Both Pandora and Trinity were sandwiched between pairs of larger than life characters and so they stuck out like a sore thumb due to their reserved performances. After Ginger lip-synced against a returning Heidi N Closet,...

After two weeks of a dramatic Country House boot camp, it's a goodbye to nice patio heaters and a hello to Wembley Arena - as the contestants take on the famously, completely and utterly brutal Six Chair Challenge. First up, it's the girls, and with such an exceptionally strong category we expect Rita will need to make some tough decisions.
Join us from 7pm as we bring you all the action live as it happens. In the meantime, why not read about the strop Simon threw after finding out his category was the Overs?
We're excited to see the judges being assigned their categories this evening, but we doubt it can possibly beat 2009, when Dannii Minogue revealed she had the girls category and Rachel Adedeji fell over.
20:59And that's it! We're all done with the girls and Six Chair Challenge for tonight. As always, thank you for joining us.

2014 is nearing its close and, in the world of celebrity, it was a banner year for shade. Some utterly dominated their targets, some failed with a deafening thud of cringe, but they all tried. And, for that, they must be celebrated.
These acts of ultimate celeb-on-celeb judgement are ranked on a scale of 1 to 5 Gs, as in “Good God, Girl, Get a Grip,” in a ranking system devised around my favorite RuPaul’s Drag Race contestant Latrice Royale, the only measurement for this kind of thing.

Bianca Del Rio, known for her tell-it-like-it-is attitude, was crowned the winner of the sixth season of RuPaul’s Drag Race.
Bianco Del Rio Wins RuPaul's Drag Race
Del Rio beat out both Courtney Act and Adore Delano for the title of America’s Next Drag Superstar and the $100,000 winnings. Though it was close between the final three, Del Rio had emerged as the one to beat – never having found herself in the bottom two and winning three separate challenges throughout the season.
“I feel like I am the luckiest entertainer in the world right now… it's an incredibly rewarding experience to have this honor and I'm proof that anything is possible,” Del Rio said in a statement following her win. “I extend my love and gratitude to the talented World of Wonder family, Logo TV, the amazing fans, and especially RuPaul. Ru, please remember to tell the IRS that my name is Pablo Sanchez.
