Carol Farhat, a major studio executive, has over 30 years experience in music production and administration for film, television and the entertainment industry.
Mentored by world-renowned Composers Lionel Newman and John Williams, she is a graduate of Antioch University, The Institute of Audio Research and participated in the UCLA film scoring program. She holds a double Liberal Arts BA degree in Business and Ethno Musicology.
Early in her career, she was a recording engineer and co-founder of The Village Recording Studio where she worked with artists such as Bob Dylan and The Band, Sly and The Family Stone, Joe Cocker, Steely Dan, The Rolling Stones, Bruce Springsteen, Willie Nelson, John Lennon and Yoko Ono, and Neil Diamond among others. Her professional experience covers many different facets of music, from heading the television music department at a major film studio to composing children's songs, recording rock and roll, and producing classical orchestral music for film and television score.
During her long music entertainment tenure, she has held a number of positions in the Music Department most notably Music Copyright Administrator, Music Director, Music Supervisor (film and Television), International Music Supervisor and Vice-President of Music for Feature Film and Television.
Currently she holds the position of Vice-President, Television Music Production and Administration at Twentieth Century Fox where she is responsible for negotiating all deals with respect to "work-for-hire" composers, songwriters, song producers, music supervisors and on camera musical artists for 20th Century Fox Television, Fox Television Studios, Fox 21, Fox Digital, Netflix, TVM, Pacific 2.1, among other affiliates. She is the link between the studios, TV producers, Fox Legal, Fox Music Creative and Business Affairs on behalf of the Fox Music Department.
In addition, she oversees all union contracts with regard to the American Federation of Musicians as well as SAG-AFTRA singers for Television Music, New Use, Re-Use and Phono-Conversion Soundtrack payments and estimates. She advises labor relations with regard to Studio Practice inquiries with respect to AF of M Musicians and SAG/AFTRA Singers policies and interpretations. She participates as a "music expert" on behalf of 20th Century Fox during the collective bargaining negotiations at The Alliance Of Motion Picture Television Producers (AMPTP) headquarters.
Additionally, her efforts in supervising or producing music or score for various episodic television shows and soundtrack projects can be heard on The Simpsons, Family Guy, American Dad, The Cleveland Show, Bob's Burgers, Modern Family, American Horror Story, Homeland, Sons of Anarchy, Tyrant, Terra Nova, 24, Glee, Bones, Empire, Star, Rocky Horror Picture Show, Sleepy Hollow, Touch and X-Files, to name a few.
She has appeared in the Japanese documentary Behind The Music Of Star Wars and has worked with many artists and composers such as John Williams, Bill Conti, Henry Mancini, Toru Takamitsu, Hans Zimmer, Michael Jackson, Alf Clausen, Tony Bennett, Queen Latifah, Seth MacFarlane, Danny Elfman, U2, Blue Man Group, Chuck Mangione, Ludacris, Willie Nelson, Kelly Clarkson, John Fogerty, Lady Gaga, Brian Tyler, Sean Callery, Walter Murphy, Ron Jones, Ed Sheeran, Mychael Danna, Giorgio Moroder, Timbaland, Ne-Yo, Cisco Adler, Swizz Beatz, Alicia Keys, Jennifer Hudson, and Marc Shaiman, among others.
