Eleni Karmiri was born in Athens, Greece in 1985. An early enthusiast for the arts (as a child she wrote a play for her local neighborhood...), Eleni graduated first in class from AKTO College of Art and Design, receiving her degree from Middlesex University, followed by the award of a college scholarship to study for a Master of Arts. Her thesis on "Directed Crime Scene Photography" was considered unique, and the College maintains it as a reference point for future students.
Her photography has featured in a number of exhibitions, such as the Open Doors event held in Gazi (Athens), and Photovision, for which she was chosen from amongst graduates of the past ten years of her college. Her work has been published in some of the most established newspapers of Greece - Kathimerini, Ta Nea, Eleutheros Typos, To Arthro tis Kyriakis, Estia, Rizospastis, Dimokratia - and in popular magazines such as Loipon, Epikaira, and Espresso. A number of websites have included her photography - Athinorama, Athensvoice, Lifo, Ertopen, and Naftemporiki being the most well known.
Combining her three great loves of photography, film and New York, she moved to NYC in 2010 to study filmmaking. As a student at the New York Film Academy she worked on numerous short films, both as director and director of photography. On graduating Eleni returned to Greece and began work for TV stations, web channels, music videos, corporate videos and short films. This brought opportunities to work with many legendary actors, and eventually led her into theater work, which became a new passion. Her most valued experience was as assistant director of the play "Dear Liar" of George Bernard Shaw at the celebrated Tzeni Karezi Theater, for which she also created the noted poster of the play.
Before she moved back to New York City in 2015 she worked as an assistant camera in the feature film "Worlds Apart" directed by the actor and screenwriter Christoforos Papakaliatis, starring J.K.Simmons and Andrea Osvart. The film is in theaters around the world and it was nominated at the Hellenic Film Academy Award in Los Angeles for Best Film, Best Actress and Best Production design and won the award for Best Supporting Actor.
After her return to New York she has worked in short films and productions including American Idol and America's Got Talent.
