Deia Brito
- Art Department
Déia Brito started her professional performing doing catering work for the movie "At Play in the Fields of the Lord", from Director Hector Babenco, filmed at her birth city of Belém, PA in 1990. This work piked her desire to work in the movie industry, which led her to move a few years later to London, England, to study fashion design -- a career that actually didn't take off. Nevertheless the move to London became important for her personal development and drove her choice, a couple of years later, to move back to Brazil to live in the city of São Paulo, the most important city in the Brazilian movie industry at the time. She stayed at São Paulo for the rest of her life.
At São Paulo, she started working as set dresser for several movies, TV series and TV advertising and built a solid career in this area.
After a few years, she found her passion job as art producer, coordinating the construction of movie sets. In this role she worked with several prominent Art Directors in Brazil, building a respected and celebrated career as the fierce, efficient, just, loving and competent professional that she became known for.
She found out a cervix cancer on September, 2019. After a year and a half fighting the disease, she died on April, 2021, aged at 54, leaving a husband and her only son.
