Last Wednesday, Rolling Stone and Variety made more news regarding their upcoming Truth Seekers Summit, presented by Showtime on August 2nd. The two brands announced a digital content hub for attendees, featuring the kind of reporting that’s at the heart of the event’s celebration of hard-nosed journalism and documentary and investigative storytelling. Seeking to dig “underneath the surface to reveal what’s hidden, what happened and what might come next,” the content hub will showcase stories on documentaries of all genres by both Rolling Stone and Variety.

The fictional Roy family of "Succession" is often compared to the real-life Murdoch media dynasty, which owns the conglomerate News Corp and the Fox brand. The parallels are far from coincidental. About a decade before "Succession" premiered, series creator Jesse Armstrong wrote a feature script, "The Murdochs," about the eponymous family. The script was never produced -- contemporary reporting at Forbes by Jeff Bercovici suggests this is because no backers were willing to fund such controversial subject matter and risk angering the Murdochs.
There's precedence. In 1941, William Randolph Hearst made it his mission to bury "Citizen Kane" because he was convinced the film was an attack on him. It's easy to imagine Murdoch, a modern-day media baron of Hearst's same stature, doing the same to a film that aired his family's dirty laundry.
This might also be why Armstrong has downplayed the connection between his show and the Murdochs. However,...

Barring some major surprise in Tuesday’s expected announcement of the charges against former President Trump —like that he did shoot someone in the middle of Fifth Avenue—the indictment is likely to contain low-level, white-collar felonies. Under New York law, these crimes do not carry any mandatory prison term and the likelihood of Trump being incarcerated, given the years of appeals that lie ahead, is low. So why did District Attorney Alvin Bragg decide to bring these charges? (And yes, he did make the decision to bring them — DAs...

Grammy-nominated global superstar Demi Lovato has released ‘Still Alive’, her new original song for the upcoming horror film Scream VI. The high energy track arrives alongside the aptly aesthetic music video. The visual sees the world of the film invade reality when Demi and her friends attend a private screening of Scream VI, only to find themselves being hunted by Ghostface himself.
Demi assumes the iconic role of “Final Girl” as she faces off with her assailant in the video’s final act. The video was directed by Jensen Noen and features cameos from Mike Shinoda and Spencer Charnas (Ice Nine Kills). The song was written by Lovato, Shinoda, and Laura Veltz. The video made its global broadcast premiere on MTV Live, Mtvu, MTV Biggest Pop and across MTV’s global network of channels, as well as on the Paramount Times Square billboards.

We have a bad feeling, ABC‘s Alaska Daily fans. The upcoming season 1 episode, which we have waited almost three months for, is just around the corner, and it promises to be a doozy. New promos for Alaska Daily Episode 7 suggest that the hostage situation involving Eileen Fitzgerald and the Concerned Citizen is more complex than we thought. And we don’t think everyone will survive the night.
Hilary Swank as Eileen Fitzgerald | ABC/Darko Sikman Is ‘Alaska Daily’ on tonight?
Unfortunately, Alaska Daily Episode 7 won’t air tonight, Feb. 23, on ABC.
The show starring Hilary Swank was initially supposed to return from its three-month hiatus tonight, but the network pushed it back one week. Now, episode 7 will drop on Thursday, March 2, and a repeat of The Company You Keep Episode 1 will air in Alaska Daily‘s time slot tonight.
ABC wanted the final five Alaska Daily episodes to air without any breaks.

We have bad news for fans of ABC‘s Alaska Daily — the network is pushing back the drama series’ return. Whereas we were only a few weeks away from the premiere of Alaska Daily Season 1 Episode 7, now viewers have to wait a little bit longer to see it.

According to TVLine, ABC has delayed Alaska Daily Season 1 Episode 7, “Enemy of the People,” one week.
Instead of airing on its original date, Feb. 23, the long-awaited episode will debut the following Thursday — March 2. The network postponed the hour because the higher-ups wanted fans to enjoy Alaska Daily‘s final five episodes consecutively without any breaks.
The Alaska Daily Season 1 finale is set for Thursday, March 30. And that means the drama series starring Hilary Swank will contain 11 episodes in its first season.

X Factor's Only The Young have leaped to the defence of their only remaining rivals in the Groups category.
The band dismissed recent reports that the show's eight-piece boyband, Stereo Kicks, have considered jettisoning members or even splitting into two separate groups.
A poll of Digital Spy readers recently implied that the majority of viewers would like to see the mega-group slimmed down, with 65% of voters saying some members should be sacked or the group divided.
However, speaking to Digital Spy, the boy-girl quartet said that they believed in each and every one of the group's members.
"We love the Stereo Kicks and every boy brings something different," they explained.
"We're not sure why anyone would think they were splitting!"
When asked whether they felt especially under threat in a category that had already lost half its acts, Only The Young admitted they were placing their trust in the viewing public.

The X Factor was in a precarious position Wednesday night — and I’m not just talking about the way it drove a bespectacled 12-year-old boy to openly weep for his mommy.
Indeed, Fox’s jewel-encrusted, aggressive and occasionally gassy reality singing competition had to serve as an amuse-bouche for the main course: The first 2012 presidential debate between Barack Obama and Mitt Romney.
How to strike a tone, then, that could serve as appropriate lead-in to a verbal battle to become leader of the free world: An old-fashoned girlfight between two lovely ladies and their respective versions of Whitney Houston’s...

Bring on the dancing dogs! America’s Got X Factor finished its Season 2 auditions Thursday night, and I, for one, can’t wait to see how the Pekingese and the Poodle fare when they get to Boot Camp.
Okay, okay, I’m being a cranky beast from Hades, but Thursday night’s X Factor installment felt more like NBC’s summer variety special than a search for a legitimate musical superstar. There was the 13-year-old kid who passed out backstage from “dehydration” — a dark part of my brain imagined him whispering “Mom, did you slip my that Rohypnol like I asked you to?...

Wednesday night’s X Factor ended with the image of a 13-year-old boy collapsed in a heap in his mother’s lap, a flurry of producers and medics trying to figure out if he’d live or if he’d eventually die of embarrassment at the hands of Simon Cowell.
I’m not sure if the incident was a clever indictment of the lengths today’s youth will go to for a chance at fame, or just a happy (medical) accident that the show’s producers cynically used to fill out yet another two-hour audition episode. Maybe it was both.
