On this episode, he talks about landing that role after trying hard to get on the show for three seasons and the incredible working environment he found on set. He opens up about his unique approach to the craft having no formal training, why he keeps the lines barely memorized, avoids expectations, operates on his instinct, and much more! [This story contains major spoilers from the series finale of Barry, “Wow.”]
It’d be understandable if you expected things not to work out for Sarah Goldberg’s Sally Reed in the series finale of HBO’s Barry.
After all, things hadn’t been going her way for a while. In season three, just as she finally achieved the success she’d yearned for, the rug was pulled out from under her when her show is canceled (and so is she, after a career-ending outburst and her association with her hitman ex-boyfriend Barry Berkman, played by writer-director-star Bill Hader). In season four, Sally is a shell of herself — or at least she thinks so. Viewers saw her find her way back to Los Angeles and follow Gene Cousineau’s (Henry Winkler) path, pivoting from acting to teaching acting. And while it’s something she’s good at, it’s not the thing she wants. Her ego, eventually, gets in her way once again.

Spoiler Alert: This interview contains spoilers for “Tricky Legacies,” the fifth episode of “Barry” Season 4.
At the end of last week’s “Barry,” we meet John (Zachary Golinger). He’s an innocent young boy, but his existence is completely terrifying: It means that Barry (Bill Hader) and Sally (Sarah Goldberg) have brought a child into their violent, conspiratorial world. But John is being raised against a rural Midwestern landscape that matches Barry’s hallucinations from prison at the beginning of Season 4 — as though there’s a chance he’s a figment of Barry’s imagination, too.
In Episode 5, we re-meet Barry and Sally, who have aged considerably, and bear new accents and names. They’re raising John as a devout Christian, with Barry actually seeming to believe what he’s preaching. Sally, on the other hand, doesn’t have the same delusions. She puts on a messy brunette wig every...

Well, everyone, it's been 8 years. Not for all of us, as we watch week to week the latest horrifying exploits of hitman/actor Barry Berkman (Bill Hader) in the HBO show "Barry." But for Barry and Sally Reed (Sarah Goldberg), it's been 8 years since the events of last week's episode, in which Barry had escaped from prison and hid in Sally's apartment, to find that she was surprisingly willing to join him in Witness Protection for having named names to the FBI. Last week's installment ended with the shock that a long enough period of time had elapsed so that Barry and Sally not only had new identities in the middle of the country, but also had a son named John (Zachary Golinger). "tricky legacies", marking the start of the back half of the show's final season, is not remotely as eventful as last week's episode, which not only featured...

Seth Rogen has spoken out about his experience as part of the cast of Steven Spielberg’s Toronto Film Festival-bound The Fabelmans.
The actor shares in an upcoming edition of The Process that he wrapped his role in the film, loosely based on the iconic filmmaker’s childhood and upbringing, toward the end of last year. “It was really cool. It was fascinating. It was a really surreal experience for everyone involved,” Rogen said of the film, which has him playing a character inspired by Spielberg’s uncle. “It premieres at Toronto. I’ve literally not seen one frame of it, so it’ll be a bizarre experience.”
In conversation with Pam & Tommy editor Tatiana S. Riegel for Deadline’s video series, Rogen also addressed his “immense” relief in seeing Lily James excel in her transformational turn as the Hulu series’ Pamela Anderson.

“There was a huge sense of wanting to do this real person justice and tell their story honestly, and with great empathy and protecting them,” Pam & Tommy’s Lily James said about playing Pamela Anderson in Hulu’s multi-Emmy-nominated miniseries.
“This felt so personal and became really universal beyond this story that just happened to Pamela, and became about really looking at how we treat women,” she added of the professional and private blows the Baywatch star suffered from a stolen sex tape that lit up the internet in its near infancy.

Falcon and the Winter Soldier star Sebastian Stan shared a new image related to his upcoming part in Hulu’s limited series Pam & Tommy. In it Stan, who plays Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee opposite James’ Pamela Anderson, poses in character wearing just shorts, shoes and an apron emblazoned with the words “Kiss the Cook,” with the hashtag “Sunday” appended.
The photo is similar to many shirtless, in character poses the actor has posted in recent weeks, but his one seemed a bit more appropriate to a BBQ-filled holiday weekend.

The post was liked by co-star Seth Rogen as well as Drake Doremus — who directed Stan in Endings — Beginnings and producer Simon Kinberg.
Hulu previously released several photos of Stan and co-star Lily James that recalled famous images of Lee and Anderson. You can see those here.

Independent cinema is at its best when it can launch a new star. Whether in front of or behind the camera, making a discovery is a highlight of the medium. In the case of the indie drama All These Small Moments, it serves to showcase a tremendous supporting turn by young Harley Quinn Smith. There’s a lot to like about this film, as it’s one of the few 2019 releases of really high quality, but Smith stands out. She hinted at this talent in her father Kevin Smith’s underrated Yoga Hosers, but this really hammers it home. She’s someone to watch out for. The movie is an indie drama, centered on a young man’s coming of age. For Howie (Brendan Meyer), his entry into adulthood is taking place as his parents (Brian D’Arcy James and Molly Ringwald) are seeing their marriage crumble. Every single day,...

Instead of the usual loosey-goosey "limited event series," USA Network has billed The Sinner TV show an "eight episode close-ended series." That makes sense, because it is based on a novel by Petra Hammesfahr. Still, if it is a hit with fans and earns big ratings, USA could always continue it, perhaps as an anthology that focuses on a different crime. 13 Reasons Why, which was originally planned as a single installment, is getting a second season on Netflix, and Big Little Lies may return to HBO, as well. Will The Sinner be renewed for season two? Stay tuned. A USA crime drama, The Sinner stars Jessica Biel, Bill Pullman, Christopher Abbott, Patti D’Arbanville, Grayson Eddey, Jacob Berger, Adrienne Lovette, Spenser Granese, Rileigh McDonald, Jordana Rose, Lindsay, Torrey, and Rebecca Wisocky. Bryan Cranston is a cool guy. Loved and acclaimed from both inside the industry and those at home, we already know Anthony Hopkins is a fan, and you can now add Brandon Polanco to that list. In 2012, Cranston was filming “Cold Comes the Night” when production halted due to Hurricane Sandy. Being the cool guy that he is, Cranston wasted no time and created a short film contest for the production assistants working on the film. He challenged them to write and submit scripts, with the winner landing Cranston in the lead role, in a film they would shoot during the downtime. Pa Brandon Polanco’s script won, and three hours later “Writer’s Block” went into production. The 13-minute black-and-white short film stars Cranston, Chaz Rose, Lela Edgar, and Spenser Granese, and the whole experience is one Polanco treasured and learned from. "A piece of advice that I got...

In 2012, Hurricane Sandy temporarily halted the production of "Cold Comes the Night," a drama-thriller starring Bryan Cranston (read our review). During that impromptu down-time, Cranston created a contest. He invited the movie's production assistants to create a script to submit to him, and if he liked it, he'd star in it. The winner was Brandon Polanco, and the result was "Writer's Block," a short black-and-white starring Cranston, Lela Edgar, Spenser Granese, and Chaz Rose. According to BuzzFeed, production began just three hours after Polanco won the contest. What's the story? It's not crystal clear, but it definitely keeps you watching with unflickering narrowed eyes until the end.
