Thanks to his affable charm, charismatic screen presence, and seeming agelessness, Paul Rudd has become one of Hollywood's most endearing performers. Though primarily known for his comedic roles, Rudd was classically trained at the beginning of his career, studying at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts-West and the British Drama Academy at Oxford University. This academic background perhaps lends an emotional truth to Rudd's numerous sarcastic and sardonic characters.
While many actors can play a funny jerk, it's hard to bring warmth and empathy to that same archetype, a specific chemistry Rudd has made his own. Rudd is also known for his frequent collaborations with writer/producer/director Judd Apatow and comedians Michael Ian Black, David Wain, and Michael Showalter. Outside of acting, Rudd is also a producer and writer who has managed to keep both feet in television and film throughout his career. A grounded performer who also loves a good prank,...

"Everything in the natural world, has a counterpart in the spiritual realm." Netlfix has revealed an official trailer for a mysterious thriller titled Things Heard & Seen, from filmmakers Shari Springer Berman & Robert Pulcini. A Manhattan couple moves to a historic hamlet up in the Hudson Valley and come to discover that their marriage has a sinister darkness, one that rivals their new home's history. Oooh. Based on the acclaimed novel by Elizabeth Brundage. Amanda Seyfried and James Norton co-star, with Natalia Dyer, Alex Neustaedter, Rhea Seehorn, Michael O'Keefe, Karen Allen, Jack Gore, with F. Murray Abraham, James Urbaniak, and Ana Sophia Heger. At first glance, this looks like an American remake of Rebecca, about digging up skeletons in the closet once you marry and move. At least the talented Amanda Seyfried is leading this time. First trailer (+ poster) for Shari Springer Berman & Robert Pulcini's Things Heard ...

Everyone’s a little off their game in Season 5 of “Billions,” the no-holds-barred financial drama that once transcended its more ludicrous deliverables by sweetening the deal with big thrills and sharp fangs. Squandering much of the good will built up by its rip-roaring first four seasons, so far Season 5 is off to a disjointed and rocky start. With Axe (Damian Lewis) and Chuck (Paul Giamatti) back at odds after temporarily making peace, “Billions” seems stuck in neutral. The first three episodes have provided some of the bark but way less of the bite that made early “Billions” the down-and-dirty joy ride it once was. “Beg, Bribe, Bully” may seal the show’s fate as officially over the hill.
The episode opens with little ginger Gordie Axelrod (Jack Gore) making his daddy proud by designing and launching his own bitcoin farm out of his prep school dormitory, promptly shutting down power to the entire town.

Hey,"Bull" fans. Unfortunately, we have some very bad news for you guys in this article. For some reason, CBS will not be airing the new episode 8 of this current season 4 tonight, November 11, 2019. The good news is that this delay will only be for this week. You guys can expect to see the new episode 8 air next Monday night, November 18, 2019 at approximately 9 pm central standard time on CBS of course. So, definitely be sure to mark down that very important date on your TV show calendars. So, what is CBS airing tonight instead of "Bull?" That is a very good question, and we do have an answer for it. According to the TV guide listings, CBS is actually airing an episode of "Bull." It just won't be a new episode. They're airing a dreaded rerun or repeat episode. The repeat episode they are airing is the 16th episode of last season 3. This episode is titled,...

ABC has canceled “The Kids Are Alright” and “The Fix” after one season each.
The news on “The Kids Are Alright” was announced by series creator Tim Doyle on Twitter. “‘The Kids Are Alright’ is dead. I just got the call. Goodbye,” he wrote.
The ensemble comedy, set in the 1970s, centers on a traditional Irish-Catholic family, the Clearys. The series also starred Sam Straley as Lawrence Cleary, Caleb Foote as Eddie Cleary, Sawyer Barth as Frank Cleary, Christopher Paul Richards as Joey Cleary, Jack Gore as Timmy Cleary, Andy Walken as William Cleary and Santino Barnard as Pat Cleary.

The Tim Doyle-created The Kids Are Alright has been canceled by ABC.

Following a very traditional Irish-Catholic family in suburban L.A. amidst the hangover from the 1960s, parents Mike (Michael Cudlitz) and Peggy (Mary McCormack) are overwhelmed raising eight boys and are hit by a figurative truck when oldest son Lawrence (Sam Straley) returns home to declare he’s quitting the seminary to “save the world.”
As Doyle stated repeatedly when the show was picked up by the Disney-owned net to series in 2018, the Tkaa is inspired by his family and childhood with fifth son Timmy (Jack Gore) essentially playing the Ep as a boy.

Netflix has released the first trailer for a new sci-fi action thriller called Rim of the World, which was directed by McG (Terminator: Salvation). The film focuses on a group of young teens who have to fight to survive an alien invasion that breaks out while they are at summer camp.
The movie looks like it’ll offer some fun entertainment. I’m not the biggest fan of McG and his work, but I’ll give this next movie of his a shot when it’s released.

"We have each other! We can't give up now." Netflix has dropped an official trailer for a big new sci-fi action movie titled Rim of the World, the latest from director McG who has been laying low and making movies quietly for Netflix these past few years. The film is about four misfit teenagers at a summer camp called "Rim of the World" who must band together and conquer their fears in order to save the world during an alien invasion. It's a nifty summer camp concept. That tagline on the poster is fun: "saving the world is alien to them."Rim of the World stars Jack Gore, Miya Cech, Benjamin Flores Jr., Alessio Scalzotto, and Andrew Bachelor. This is a surprise sci-fi project and it looks good, but not that great. This kind of seems like Attack the Block meets Transformers meets "Stranger Things" and a whole bunch of...

“It was a very turbulent time and we wanted to show a typical family growing up before seat belts,” admits “The Kids Are Alright” production designer Michael Whetson about the 70’s setting of the ABC comedy series. Watch our exclusive video interview with him as adds, “Even though the show is in 1972 the Cleary family is stuck in the early 60’s and that’s reflected in the design of the house.”
“The Kids Are Alright” is a series about the working class Cleary family. The Irish Catholic family of eight kids is led by matriarch Peggy (Mary McCormack) and patriarch Mike (Michael Cudlitz). The story is told from the perspective of the fifth child Timmy (Jack Gore), who is based on the series creator and narrator Tim Doyle. Whetson is the show’s production designer and has previously done the set designs for “New Girl,” “Wilfred” and “Curb Your Enthusiasm.

By mid-May, the broadcast networks must make some tough calls as to which series will return for the 2019-20 season, and which… won’t.
As that deadline draws near, TVLine is singling out a few “bubble” shows and sizing up their prospects — based in large part on creative strides (and stumbles) and future potential, but also with a requisite nod to cold, hard numbers.
Next up is a 1970s-set family comedy that may be running out of… time.

The Kids Are Alright is doing alright after all. ABC just announced they've given a full season order to the freshman TV show.
Set in the 1970s, the comedy centers on the Clearys, an Irish-Catholic family living on the outskirts of Los Angeles. The cast includes Michael Cudlitz, Mary McCormack, Sam Straley, Caleb Foote, Sawyer Barth, Christopher Paul Richards, Jack Gore, Andy Walken, and Santino Barnard.

ABC has given back orders to Tuesday comedy series The Kids Are Alright and Splitting Up Together. With that, the network has picked up additional episodes of all of its fall series that did not have full-season orders.
ABC would not specify the size of the pickups for freshman Kids Are Alright and sophomore Splitting Up Together beyond calling them full-season orders. I hear Kids Are Alright has received a Back 9 order for a traditional 22-episode full season, while Splitting Up Together will produced five additional episodes for a 18-episode second season.
Kids Are Alright, from ABC Studios, has been the stronger ratings performer of the two, as the 1970s blue-collar family comedy, airing at 8:30 Pm, is benefiting from a stronger lead-in from The Conners. Romantic comedy Splitting Up Together, from Warner Bros TV, airs behind Black-ish at 9:30 Pm and regularly ranks as the least=watched ABC series...

ABC, which is already home to such TV families as the Goldbergs and the Conners, welcomed a new clan to its sitcom lineup with Tuesday’s debut of The Kids Are Alright.
Set in 1970s Southern California, Kids centers on the middle-class, Irish Catholic Cleary family, which boasts eight (!) children — all of them boys. Michael Cudlitz (The Walking Dead) and Mary McCormack (In Plain Sight) star as no-nonsense parents Mike and Peggy, who just barely have enough time, energy and money to keep a house full of eight sons running smoothly.

For those who have lived through the 1970s, the shots of rotary phones, Hi-c drinks, and packages of Wonder Bread on ABC’s “The Kids Are Alright” will be a nostalgic sight. The era of hippies and Watergate will be the setting for the comedy that follows the Clearys, a traditional Irish-Catholic family with eight boys who are free to cause ruckus without much supervision.
The series is inspired by the childhood of creator and executive producer Tim Doyle, and Doyle was on hand to talk about the upcoming series during the third day of the annual Paley Fall TV Previews on Saturday. Gay couple Paul Rudd and Steve Coogan are obliged to look after a child in this tiresome camp comedy
In this wearying, horribly dated comedy, Steve Coogan and Paul Rudd play Erasmus and Paul, a bourgeois gay couple who are forced into parenting roles when Erasmus’s Taco Bell-obsessed, pre-teen grandson, Angel/Bill (Jack Gore), arrives unannounced at their chic mansion in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Rudd is believable as a neurotic TV producer (with hipster beard and glasses), who’s the more responsible of the pair, but Coogan’s narcissistic celebrity chef Erasmus Bumble dials up the character’s campness for cheap laughs, swanning around in raccoon furs and suggesting the kid might enjoy “the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum and a nice salad”, rather than ice cream and the arcade. Every joke’s punchline is that these characters are gay, making it difficult to understand who exactly, in 2018, the film hopes to make laugh.

In this unfunny comedy, Coogan plays half of a gay couple thrown into disarray by the unexpected arrival of his grandson
It always hurts to see a clever British comedy star forced to conform to a tin-eared Hollywood idea of what a posh Brit should sound like. Russell Brand went through it with the Arthur remake, and now Steve Coogan endures the same thing in this entirely disposable comedy about a super-gay celebrity foodie called Erasmus presenting a cookery show on American TV.
He bickeringly lives in a lifestyle-magazine-type hacienda with his long-suffering partner and producer Paul – in which role Paul Rudd does his best. They are living the dream, kind of, until a tousle-haired kid turns up out of the blue. Bill (Jack Gore) turns out to be Erasmus’s grandson, via a rashly experimental heterosexual hookup ages ago, that Paul knew nothing about until now.

Flamboyant TV chef Erasmus Brumble (Coogan) along with his director and long-term partner Paul (Rudd), are happy going through life playing as hard as they work. But suddenly they have to decide whether to grow-up or continue down their well-trodden path, when Erasmus’s estranged grandson, Bill (played by Jack Gore), unexpectedly turns up at their door, after his father is taken away to serve time in prison. Having another mouth to feed can always come with its strains, but the couple’s fears that they are not yet cut out to be devoted parents become apparent very quickly, with their lavish social lifestyle getting in the way of their duties as responsible guardians. A lot can happen in 10 years. That’s how long it’s been since writer-director Andrew Fleming first hatched the concept for “Ideal Home,” the idea coming to him when he was on the set of his arid Sundance hit, “Hamlet 2.” The world has come pretty damn far since then, if not quite far enough.
Back in 2008, a casually disposable comedy about the virtues of queer parenthood might have seemed progressive, even if it starred two straight actors and made their characters into human cartoons whose sexuality is used as the punchline of almost every joke. In 2018, that same comedy feels like a time capsule that someone forgot to bury — you can still get a laugh or two from looking at the stuff inside, but it’s hard to know what we’re supposed to do with it now that the future that “Ideal Home” wants is already behind us.

Writer-director Andrew Fleming is one of the best and most underrated makers of comedies today, and his new film “Ideal Home” is delightful in spite of a premise that sounds un-promising.
Steve Coogan and Paul Rudd play Erasmus and Paul, a gay couple who are saddled with Erasmus’s grandson after Erasmus’ ne’er-do-well son Beau is arrested. Trying to evade the police in the first scene, Beau gets stuck in a window, and Fleming lingers on a shot of his behind in tighty-whities in a way that somehow feels more kindly than lecherous; certainly there are worse ways to enliven a basically expository sequence.
Erasmus is a popular and snobby TV food show host based in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and Paul is his producer; they have been together for ten years and they bicker near-constantly. “Part of me wants to stick around just to watch him die,” Paul tells one of their crew,...

“Ideal Home,” a featherweight big-screen sitcom in which Steve Coogan and Paul Rudd play testy romantic partners who wind up as parental caretakers of a 10-year-old boy, is the perfect example of how a movie can be progressive and retrograde at the same time. It’s supposed to feel cutting edge that Coogan and Rudd, who are both terrific actors, adopt a no-big-deal posture toward portraying a gay couple. If only the movie itself were as nonchalant about it! Written and directed by Andrew Fleming, who has had a fluky, hit-or-miss career but built a good comic pedestal for Coogan a decade ago with the dementedly funny “Hamlet 2,” “Ideal Home” is never not painfully aware that its two main characters are gay. It’s a cozy duet of tit-for-tat bitchery that, at times, carries the nagging whisper of a liberal minstrel show.

ABC ordered a mix of comedy pilots this season — most revolved around families but some ventured into workplace and even the superhero genre. In the end, the ones that made the cut to series are the 1970s-set The Kids Are Alright (fka untitled Tim Doyle), which just got the nod, and Single Parents, which was picked up earlier today. Both are family comedies, as are all renewed ABC half-hour series.
ABC last year tried to broaden up its comedy field with The Mayor, its most profile new comedy series and the only one to get a fall launch. It fizzled as did another comedy that had a strong workplace component, Alex Inc. Meanwhile, the revival of ABC’s classic family comedy Roseanne had a blockbuster premiere. The family-themed new comedy Splitting Up Together, which launched behind Roseanne, was the only freshman ABC comedy to make it to Season 2.

A shining example of the cult classic, “The Craft” has lived a long movie life since its debut in 1996. Starring Neve Campbell, Christine Taylor, and an unforgettable Fairuza Balk, “The Craft” never gets old to revisit around Halloween time—or any time, for that matter. It’s called “Ideal Home,” it’s coming out this summer, and IndieWire has the exclusive first trailer.
Per the official synopsis: “‘Ideal Home’ is the touching and humorous story of Erasmus and Paul (Coogan and Rudd), a bickering gay couple whose life is turned inside out when a ten-year old boy shows up at their door claiming to be Erasmus’ grandson. Neither Paul, nor Erasmus, are ready to give up their extravagant lifestyles to be parents, but...

Here's the first international trailer for Andrew Fleming's Ideal Home, direct from YouTube:...
