I approach this review at a bit of a crossroads. Do I review Anchorman 2 as it exists on this awesome three disc set as the theatrical cut or do I dare explore the absurdity of the Super-Sized R-Rated Version? For those unfamiliar with the Adam McKay Ron Burgundy films, the actors often provide an insane amount of takes and dialogue options often with hilarious results. The original Anchorman film, for example, when released on DVD through Best Buy, included a wholly separate movie, comprised of sub-plots that were cut from the theatrical feature. It was pretty impressive. I decided to take a similar approach to one I’ve made in the past, and reviewed sections of the film at different cuts.
The results, predictably, were hysterical. Often, you’ll see a few of these takes used in commercials or in credits sequences, alternate takes, etc. One of the more...

New Anchorman 2,The Legend Continues movie delivered lots of laughs and corniness. Paramount Pictures released there new comedy flick, "Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues" into theaters this weekend. I just checked it out, and I thought it was ok. It delivered a lot of laughs, but man, was it corny as hell at times. It really went over the top towards the end too. It stars: Will Ferrell, Christina Applegate, Steve Carell, David Koechner, Paul Rudd, Kristen Wiig, James Marsden, Dylan Baker, Meagan Good, Harrison Ford, Greg Kinnear, Josh Lawson, Vince Vaughn, Luke Wilson, and Nicole Kidman . In the new flick, the storyline picked back up 7 years after the first installment. Ron Burgundy (Will Ferell) is now married to Veronica Corningstone (Christina Applegate) and has a 7 year old son with her. They live in New York City, working at a prestigious news network. However, one day, Veronica got a...

See ThisSaving Mr. BanksWhatever our religious beliefs, we should all clasp our hands together and send out a little prayer of thanks that Pamela Travers (Emma Thompson) found herself financially strapped in the early '60s. Because but for her moment of personal penury, we'd all be without the Disney adaptation of the world's favorite sugar-pushing nanny, Mary Poppins. (Listen, sometimes you need more than a song to move the job along.) On the verge of losing her cozy London home, Travers agrees to fly to Los Angeles to work with Walt Disney (Tom Hanks) and his team on a...

Meagan Good plays network executive Linda Jackson in Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues, and the actress tells us she was such a fan of the original film that she cried when she found out she'd landed the part! Meagan also weighed in on her early '80s costumes in the film and what it's really like to improv with Will Ferrell. Meagan traded the Oprah-inspired locks she sports in the new movie for a fresh, new pixie cut but revealed there's an item from Linda's wardrobe she still rocks to this day. Anchorman 2 hits theaters Dec. 18.

Ron Burgundy is back! Just as arrogant and charming as we remember. But Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues is strictly for fans alone. It will be completely unappreciated by anyone that does not get the epic nuances of the masterful Will Ferrell.
The storyline is based in the early 1980s and the beginning of the currently popular twenty-four-hours-a-day-news trend. The first station to offer this is called Gnn, a play on CNN. Ron Burgundy played by Will Ferrell is sure not to disappoint his fans. He is of course joined with his all-star winning news team Paul Rudd as Brian Fantana, Steve Carell as Brick Tamland, and David Koechner as Champ Kind. Together they are still as silly as we remember. Brick has a new love interest that is just perfect for him. Champ has started his own restaurant featuring fried bats, Fantana is a prominent photographer of cats and...

If ever a movie could be described as having a ‘lighting in a bottle’ comic energy, it would be Adam McKay’s original Anchorman. More than silly, and miles beyond ridiculous, the film is a product of full-on creative lunacy, a comedy so positively, inconceivably bonkers that the only logical explanation for how it could exist in such pure, unhinged form is that everybody involved went mad on the first day of shooting. The jokes land as hard as they do because there is often no clear rhyme or reason to them whatsoever – the film is an intense shock to the system, a rewiring of one’s basic sense of comedy, and I believe the core reason Anchorman is so enduringly quotable is because the words that come out of the character’s mouths have no business being arranged in sentences together. “I have many leather-bound books, and my apartment smells of rich mahogany.

Rating: 3.5 out of 5 stars
It’s been nearly ten years since Ron Burgandy and his majestic hair first graced our screens in the now cult classic Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgandy. Eminently quotable and utterly ridiculous it was a collection of absurd comedic moments pieced together into a semblance of a plot. The film meandered off on ludicrous tangents and, really, this didn’t matter, because the it was so damn funny.
Unfortunately, Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues fails to strike the same chord. Despite being only twenty minutes longer than the original, the second film feels unwieldy. There are whole sections that feel completely unnecessary – why the hell we needed the section in the lighthouse escapes me somewhat (you’ll see what I mean). Detouring for good gags I can understand, but when you create a twenty minute plot strand based around hand-feeding a shark,...

Airplane. Caddyshack. Every single Police Academy sequel. Making a follow-up to a well-liked comedy is a perilous path to walk. More often than not things end up closer to The Hangover II than Austin Powers 2, so it's understandable to be trepidatious about this second big-screen Anchorman outing.
Mercifully, The Legend Continues manages to avoid the pitfalls of many a comedy sequel and fashion a funny, occasionally very funny, second instalment for Ron Burgundy and his loyal news team. Director Adam McKay's sequel opens in '80s New York with Ron and Veronica Corningstone (Christina Applegate) married with a son and serving as co-anchors for a big time broadcaster in primetime. Will Ferrell returns as the oafish news reader Ron Burgundy in Anchorman 2. Here's our review...
What exactly was it that made Anchorman funny? If you’re one of those people who hated it, the answer is probably a simple “nothing”. But if you’re among the 2004 comedy’s sizeable cult following, you could say that it was its off-the-cuff sense of creativity. Partly improvised and almost entirely devoid of plot, 2004‘s Anchorman was a true diamond in the rough: an unpredictable comedy about a pompous news reader bumbling his way through the 1970s, jazz flute in hand.
Ron Burgundy’s since become one of Will Ferrell’s most beloved characters, and while Paramount was reluctant to finance a sequel for many years, the persistence of Adam McKay and Anchorman’s cast - not to mention a devoted following of fans - have ultimately led to Anchorman 2.

So has "Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues" stopped with the shameless marketing and started focusing on the actual movie? It would seem that way. With just over a week before Ron Burgundy and his pals are back on the air, Paramount is shifting gears and starting to show more from the actual movie. The studio has dropped more than 25 images from the movie, and while they aren't particularly revelatory, they do at least reveal that Brick has his trident for what might be another epic battle. Elsewhere, Veronica Corningstone is back in the mix as is Baxter, while Champ and Brian round out Ron's team. But they are all in for something of a rude awakening with their new boss Linda Jackson, who is introduced to the group in this new clip, and of course, their reaction is less than politically correct. "Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues" arrives on December 18th.
