Folie à Deux (Madness by Two)
Folie à Deux is a neo-noir short film that aims to open up a discussion about men’s mental health. In this film, we follow Oliver, an overworked chef who turns to drugs and alcohol and drags his girlfriend Isabel down with him, turning a loving relationship into one of control and abuse. The short – which is a proof of concept for a feature film – comes from writer/director Naveed Mir and stars Alan Cooper, who was the lead actor in the feature film Claudia.

If there’s one thing that makes UK horror film festival Frightfest stand head and shoulders above others of its ilk, it’s the amount of attendees that have gone on to create their own horror movies – be they features or shorts – some of which, like last summer’s Banjo, have gone on to play the festival itself – inpsiring more Frightfesters in some kind of horrific viscious circle!
One such Frightfest attendee turned filmmaker is Katie Bonham, whose fourth horror short, Mindless, starring Nicholas Vince (Hellraiser, Hellbound: Hellraiser II and Nightbreed), has its world premiere at this years Frightfest Glasgow. Though to be fair, Bonham’s no stranger to Glasgow – this is the second year in a row she has screened a short a Frightfest Glasgow; with her previous short film, The Paper Round, shown last year.

To put it simply, The Package is a short film, written and directed by Damon Rickard, about how far a man is prepared to go to get something back that was stolen from him…
One of the great things about short films is that there is rarely time for establishing detailed characters or setting, so they jump straight into the meat of it. This is absolutely true with The Package, as no more than twenty seconds in, the main character (whose name we never learn) is knocked out and wakes up tied to a chair in an unknown location.
Who is he? We don’t know. Why is he there? We don’t know. What follows is a scene of uncomfortable torture where we are drip fed just enough information to keep us on the cusp of understanding, always wanting to know more.

Film4 FrightFest has unveiled the line-up for its annual Halloween event.
Unlike previous editions, this year will see the event take place throughout the day as opposed to being the traditional all-nighter.
For the second consecutive year, the Halloween event will take place at FrightFest’s spiritual home of London’s Prince Charles Cinema on Oct 24.
Talking of the change in structure, FrightFest co-director Alan Jones said: “Enough with the after dark jitters, caffeine fixes and trying to stay awake through the last movie. FrightFest is always ahead of the curve when it comes to redefining event experiences so here’s our latest innovation.
“All before midnight you’ll delight in fright with six of the must-see movies of the moment. Carefully selected by the FrightFest team of experts to show exactly where the genre is right now, these six nightmares...

Welcome to the latest edition of our regular crowdfunding feature here on Nerdly – Back This! – where we take a look at some of the cool content taking the crowdfunding route on sites such as Indiegogo, Sponsume and Kickstarter. This edition we’re spotlighting the new campaign from Damon Rickard, one of the directors behind the fantastic short horror film, The Tour.
Damon Rickard, one of the directors of The Tour, is back with a new project due to shoot in a few weeks called The Package, another short horror film – which he is writing and directing – about how far someone will go to get something back.
Written and directed by Damon Rickard, The Package wants to challenge your perception from the first minute to the last as all is not necessarily what it seems. The film is set to walk through those blurred lines that can exist between good and evil actions that men do.

Darkmoor Manor is England’s most haunted house, its doors closed to the public. It is now just part of a tour which helps attracts visitors to a struggling town. That is until the tour guide, trying to impress two attractive American visitors promises to get them inside. But none of them could be prepared for what was waiting within the shadows of the house.
The Tour is a short film which doesn’t even reach the fifteen minute mark in length. So here is my equally short review: It is the perfect way to quickly inject some horror into your day if you’re in a rush or just can’t be bothered with all that build up and other stuff which is involved in a standard length film.

Film4 FrightFest will be screening a record twenty short films, twelve of them world premieres, at this year’s August event at the Vue West End, Leicester Square – including the latest from director Federico Zampaglione entitled Remember, the Fiona Dourif starring She (which I backed on Kickstarter many moons ago) and the second Jessica Cameron-starring production showing at Frightfest, the UK-lensed short The Tour.
Spearheading this year’s selection is the world premiere of Show Pieces, three tales of terror written by Alan Moore, the genius 2000 Ad writer behind Watchmen, The League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen, From Hell and V For Vendetta. Moore has never previously written specifically for the screen, until now. Directed by his close friend and internationally acclaimed photographer Mitch Jenkins, this interconnected trilogy kicks off with. ‘Act of Faith’ in which a young woman looking for the next step in sexual excitement unfortunately finds it. ‘Jimmy...
