Ryan is an award-winning cinematographer, entrepreneur, and director based in Los Angeles, California. A Detroit native, Ryan transitioned to New York City after earning his undergraduate degree from Grand Valley State University in 2009. Ryan cut his teeth producing short-form branded content for outlets such as BET & MTV Networks, VH1, FUSE Media and New York Magazine. Leveraging his experience, Ryan founded Wayland Street Films in 2013-- Wayland Street Films is a video production company that produces branded content for education-centric outlets and digitally minded publishers. The company's client roster includes industry giants such as Scholastic Inc., John Wiley & Son's and Yahoo Studios.
Most recently, Ryan was selected to participate as a Fellow in the prestigious Disney ABC Television Directing Program. Launched in 2001, the Disney ABC program is one of the longest-running programs of its kind --- offering advanced professional development and direct access to executives and producing directors on hit series.
In 2017, Ryan was selected to participate in the Sony Pictures Television Diverse Directing Program, after successfully co-writing, directing, and producing a comedic short film entitled The Rough Part. The film was accepted into ten different film festivals across the country and enjoyed a chorus of rave reviews along the way.
