Hugo W. Sanchez

Hugo W. Sanchez started playing the piano and taking piano lessons when he was seven years old in Cumana, Venezuela. He later attended the University of New Orleans where he graduated with a B.A. in Jazz Studies. In the Crescent City, he studied jazz improvisation with world renowned jazz artist and film composer, Mr Terence Blanchard, and pianists Mulgrew Miller and Peter Martin. Hugo continued his studies at the University of Miami where he earned a Master in Music by 2007. At UM, he focused on arranging and orchestration with Mr. Gary Lindsey. Finally focusing his studies on orchestration and composition, he received a specialist certificate in Orchestration for Film and TV from Berklee College of Music. Sanchez has worked extensively as an arranger on different music projects that showcase world class jazz artists such as: Gonzalo Rubalcaba, Cecile McLorin Salvant, and Dave Samuels among others. Hugo have scored and produced music for several independent films including: Something Beautiful (2012), The Space Between (2014), and Star Child (2015). Hugo W. Sanchez was named a Bronze Medal Finalist in the 2016 Global Music Awards and won best musical score at the Tampa Bay Underground Film Festival (2016) for his original film score of Star Child.
