Soooo many secrets! Soooo many damn lies!
Just when it felt like we were given answers to many of our questions, more questions sprouted up! Secrets and Lies Season 2 Episode 2 turned it up a notch giving us more suspects, more theories, and so much more drama!
The second installment was exceedingly better than the first, and the season is gearing up to be a really great one!
I loved that they started the episode off addressing the fact that Detective Cornell was fifty types of wrong for damn near shouting out the fact that Eric killed someone before At His Wife's Memorial! It was in such poor taste for so many reasons, one of them obviously being that it was his wife's memorial!
The other being, that as Amanda said, it happened when he was a juvenile and juvenile records are sealed and it was expunged. She had no right to disclose that!

When "Secrets and Lies" premiered on ABC in March, Sepinwall and I talked about it on the podcast, but nobody wrote a full review. What I said in my Take Me To The Pilots entry and what I said on the podcast is what I'd have said in my review: In a year of close-ended shows using the death of a child as a catalyst for an investigation or an investigation of grief, "Secrets and Lies" was the most tawdry and sensationalistic, the one most prone to insulting the intelligence of viewers. Two months later, same as it ever was, "Secrets and Lies" ended its first season with a seemingly anti-climactic scene and then instructed viewers to go watch one extra scene either online or on some stupid ap or... Screw that. Season 1 of "Secrets and Lies" ended with a slightly ominous car scene between Abby and Christy. Full-stop. I...

‘Secrets and Lies’ Review: ABC Drama Uncovers Suburban Suspicion, Deception and Ryan Phillippe’s Abs
The tragic and sudden death of a little boy is the catalyst for ABC’s new drama debuting Sunday night with a two hour premiere. Good Samaritan and typical suburbanite Ben Crawford (Ryan Phillippe) immediately falls under suspicion after he discovers the body of his neighbor Jess Murphy’s young son, Tom, in the woods while out for an early morning run. Ben vigorously defends himself and in doing so, the show’s title comes into play as secrets and lies are unearthed and shock waves reverberate throughout the suburban community. Ben’s family is at the center of it all: his marriage to.

If you’re tempted to dismiss ABC’s new Secrets and Lies as yet another Broadchurch knockoff, consider this: Secrets’ tale unspools solely from the perspective of Ryan Phillippe’s Ben Crawford, a suburban family man suspected of killing his neighbor’s son. Which means Phillippe is in virtually every scene of the chiller that head writer Barbie Kligman calls “a character drama with an underlying mystery.” It’s madness, Phillippe and Secrets’ co-executive producer/director Timothy Busfield (thirtysomething, Damages) agree — but there is very much method to it. “The lines between what Ben is going through and what Ryan is going through would cross … Continue reading →

By the end of the day, he's somehow become the police's number one suspect for the crime. Co-starring Juliette Lewis as the straight-laced detective determined to get to the bottom of the child's death, the show is set for a 10-episode run starting on March 1; the end of season one will wrap up Ben's storyline and reveal the young boy's murderer. So what was it about this show that intrigued Phillippe, an actor known mostly for film?...

Nuanced murder mystery series have become very popular in recent years, begging the question how ABC’s new drama Secrets and Lies will differentiate itself from the crowd. Secrets and Lies stars Ryan Phillippe as Ben Crawford, a man who becomes the number one suspect after he discovers the body of his neighbor’s son in the woods. The drama also stars Juliette Lewis as the obsessive Detective Cornell out to prove Ben is guilty. "Ours is so much better," Lewis joked to reporters of the comparisons to Broadchurch and its American remake, Gracepoint, during the Television Critics Association’s winter TV previews.

Can a drama about a dead child ever possibly thrive on TV?
In the wake of Fox’s Gracepoint putting up low numbers throughout its one-and-done run, ABC will test audiences’ appetite for a kid-centric murder mystery with Secrets and Lies, which itself is a U.S. adaptation of a foreign (Australian) series.
Premiering Sunday, March 1 at 9/8c, the midseason drama stars Ryan Phillipe (Damages) as Ben Crawford, a suburban family man who immediately emerges as a suspect in the murder of a neighborhood boy whose body he discovers while out for a jog. KaDee Strickland (Private Practice) plays Ben’s wife Christy,...

Is Ryan Phillippe guilty of… murder?
In the first promo for ABC’s midseason thriller Secrets and Lies, Phillippe’s character, Good Samaritan Ben Crawford, discovers the dead body of a local kid — and instantly becomes the prime suspect.
While the clip strongly suggests that Ben is innocent of Tom’s death, the lead detective — played by Juliette Lewis — clearly is not buying the story he’s selling.
The 10-episode drama premieres Sunday, March 1. Press Play below and then hit the comments with an answer to this question: You hungry for another whodunit?
