The Beach Boys were one of the most popular singing groups of the 1960s. The band was famous for their songs about surfing, California, and girls. Many of their albums rocketed to the top of the charts. But which one was their most popular?
The Beach Boys’ history as a band
The Beach Boys were formed in 1961 in California, made up of brothers Brian, Dennis, and Carl Wilson, their cousin Mike Love, and a friend named Al Jardine. The band was a true family affair; the Wilsons’ father Murry served as their manager, while Brian was the creative mind behind the group’s hit songs.
The group continues to tour today, but Love is the only original member who still performs. He is typically joined by a changing lineup that includes longtime stand-in Beach Boy Bruce Johnston and guitar player and vocalist Scott Totten, among others. Actor John Stamos also frequently performs with the band.

For the Beach Boys, 2020 was supposed to be a busy year, packed with performances and meet-and-greets. “And then it came to a screeching halt,” Mike Love tells Rolling Stone. “I just look forward to the time when we can get out and do our live music again.”
While remaining isolated in Lake Tahoe, Love recently wrote “This Too Shall Pass,” a Covid-19–themed solo ditty. He enlisted frequent Beach Boys guest John Stamos to drum on the track. “He loves the Beach Boys, and has all his life,” Love says of Stamos.

Mike Love of The Beach Boys and John Stamos (occasionally of The Beach Boys) teamed up on a new song to help fans surf — er, skate — through the coronavirus pandemic.
“This Too Shall Pass” was written by Love, produced by Scott Totten, and released through BMG. Stamos is back behind the drum kit, a stool he’s often occupied for Beach Boys shows.

Ok, so the song probably wouldn’t make the cut on “Pet Sounds,” but it’s for a good cause.
All artist and label royalties from “This Too Shall Pass” will go to Feeding America’s Covid-19 Response Fund to help food banks across the country as they support communities impacted by the pandemic. The fund will enable food banks to secure the resources they...

Mike Love has a message for everyone hunkering down in quarantine: “This too shall pass.”
And since he’s a Beach Boy and thus some mention of the sun is decreed, he adds: “The best is yet to come/So let’s get back to having fun, fun, fun in the sun.”
Love and sometimes-Beach Boy John Stamos teamed up while in self-isolation to write and record “This Too Shall Pass,” a peppy Covid-19-themed track and Love’s first since his 2019’s 12 Sides of Summer.

Beach Boys singer Mike Love celebrates a familiar locale on his breezy new song “California Beach.” Over stacked vocal harmonies, acoustic strums and bright keys, the frontman romanticizes a scene “where surfers and surfing, and dancers are dancing.”
“That mythical place out west; the California I’ve been blessed to call home has provided a lifetime of inspiration,” Love says of the track. “California Beach, in reality is not one, but many wonderful places that have held an allure beckoning so many for countless years. This song has been living...
