Comic illustrators Glenn Fabry, David Finch, John Romita Jr. and Philip Tan are among the bold-faced guests that will be hosted at 2024 edition of Lake Como Comic Arts Festival, the unique convention that focuses on comic artists.
Artists Bill Sienkiewicz, Jordi Bernet, Frank Cho, Juanjo Guarnido, Tula Lotay, Bill Morrison, David Petersen and Charles Vess, most of whom have previously attended, are also in the lineup for the three-day event that kicks off May 17 with a reception overlooking the lake and gardens of the historic Villa Erba, the festival’s home, in Cernobbio, Italy.
Entering its third year, the event is less a convention than it is a fair with an intimate approach to artist-guest interactions, all in the picturesque setting made famous by Hollywood jet-setters such as George and Amal Clooney and John Legend and Chrissy Teigen. Those who have attended have described it as a con for art collectors.

New York Comic Con has announced its 2022 panel lineup, which includes a number of notable events taking place throughout the three-day convention.
Toplining the panels is a tribute to 45 years of “Halloween” and Laurie Strode with Jamie Lee Curtis, moderated by “Scream” star Drew Barrymore. The panel – which takes place Saturday, Oct. 8 – will find Curtis discussing her journey with the “Halloween” franchise up through the latest (and final?) installment “Halloween Ends.”
Nycc will also host the first-ever screening of “Violent Night,” a new film from director Tommy Wirkola (“Dead Snow”) that stars David Harbour as Santa Claus who takes on a crew of bad guys who aim to hold a family compound hostage. Fremantle has struck a strategic development deal with Awa Studios, the film and television division of Awa.
The deal will allow Fremantle and Awa Studios to collaborate and co-develop a slate of TV projects based on Awa’s expanding IP library. The graphic fiction publisher and entertainment studio was founded in 2018 by Marvel alumni Bill Jemas and Axel Alonso, and Jon Miller.
Under the pact, the two companies will collaborate closely on “all aspects” of the partnership, with Fremantle leading on raising production finance and funding the development of projects. Fremantle will also run studio efforts and execute physical productions as well as handle international distribution for all projects launched.
Awa is backed by James Murdoch’s Lupa Systems, Sister, and Lightspeed Venture Partners. In early 2021, the company established Awa Studios, its Film and TV division, helmed by Hollywood veteran Zach Studin as president, who will oversee the partnership with Fremantle.

Sister has invested in Awa Studios, a new comic book and digital media publisher, Variety has learned.
The company is unique in that it is owned and operated by the creators. It was founded by Marvel alumni Bill Jemas and Axel Alonso, along with Jon Miller, the former CEO of News Corp, Digital Media Group. The company was funded by Lightspeed Venture Partners and James Murdoch’s Lupa Systems.
The deal was led by Elisabeth Murdoch, along with Sister Global CEO and head of Sister La, Stacey Snider and partner Jane Featherstone. Elisabeth Murdoch is James Murdoch’s sister and Snider ran 20th Century Fox, the film studio that the Murdoch family owned until selling it to Disney in 2019. It's Batman vs. Thomas Wayne in "The Fall and the Fallen," the new Batman arc from Tom King and Mikel Janin.
Batman is about to face his strangest nemesis yet: his father from an alternate timeline where Bruce died and Thomas Wayne wears the cape and cowl. Bruce's dad isn't the hero you'd expect him to be in Tom King and Mikel Janin's new story, "The Fall and the Fallen." Thomas has aligned himself with Bane, the secret mastermind of King's planned 100-issue run on Batman, and he wants to break the Bat once and for all by going after his mind.
Since issue #60, Batman has been trapped in a dream state, a psychological assault in the shape of his greatest fears, from Damian becoming a butcher like Professor Pyg to an endless nightmare that ends with Catwoman breaking Bruce's heart over and over again. That arc,...

Whenever the subject of Harley Quinn has come up, I’ve never been ashamed to admit that I didn’t become a fan of the character until Jimmy Palmiotti and Amanda Conner took the reins back in 2013. Before then, I more so saw her as Joker’s henchgirl. But now, she’s her own woman with a rich supporting cast.
Still, whenever any creative team oversees a specific title for a number of years, you can’t help but wonder what other writers and artists may bring to the table – no matter how much you love who’s in charge at the moment. So, even though I shed a tear when Palmiotti and Conner vacated the throne a few months back, I was ready to embrace change.
In the time since, Frank Tieri has done a fine job as interim writer, but beginning this summer, Sam Humphries (Green Lanterns, Nightwing) will be taking over.

Knowing that Harley Quinn is about to celebrate her 25th anniversary, it’s understandable that DC up the ante by taking the character that co-publisher and legendary artist Jim Lee recently described as their “fourth pillar” (Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman being the other three) in crazy new directions. So, in addition to an oversized one-shot hitting stands this fall, readers can look forward to the flagship book paying off a long gestating B-plot.
If you’ve been reading Amanda Conner and Jimmy Palmiotti’s run on Harley Quinn up until now – in both the New 52 and Rebirth – then you’d know the mayor of New York City is about as corrupt as they come (in the story, of course). To this point, he’s been a constant nuisance to our gal, has employed cannibals to feed on the city’s homeless and, more recently, enlisted the services of Harley...
