Dusty Harris became the seventh contestant eliminated from “The Challenge: USA” on Sunday night, following his loss to Wes in the arena. In the game “Crank Shafted,” one player stood on a wheel while their opponent was at the crank shaft. The competitor on the ground had to untie steering wheels in order to move the large wheel their opponent was standing on, spinning it until they fell off. In the end, Wes made Dusty fall faster, sending “The Amazing Race” star packing. Watch our exclusive video interview with the eliminated contestant above.
Dusty wasn’t surprised to see seven votes against him in the hopper after he blew up on Tiffany. “You cause a scene in the house, you’re probably gonna go dance with the devil,” he explains. “I’m literally getting in here with the redheaded savage himself, one of the best to ever do this business in eliminations.

Ryan Ferguson and Dusty Harris looked like the ones to beat on “The Amazing Race 33” for a majority of the season — they never finished lower than fourth place — but it was basically over before it ever got going for them on the final leg. Tasked with finding a lock combination code on the side of a hotel elevator, the BFFs didn’t put the clue together until it was too late. They never recovered and finished in third place while Kim and Penn edged out Raquel and Cayla for the win.
We caught up with Dusty (Ryan was unavailable) to relive the elevator drama/trauma and clear up doorknobgate.
Gold Derby: Congrats on third place, but I imagine that was kind of tough to watch.

After being shut down halfway through the competition because of the Covid-19 pandemic, The Amazing Race Season 33 has finally come to a close. The finale aired March 2 on CBS, and it was an intense race to the finish and that $1 million prize. Contestants started filming in February 2020. After production resumed 19 months later, seven teams returned to compete. The season took the teams to seven countries and 17 cities. And by the finale, only four teams remained: best friends Ryan Ferguson and Dusty Harris, flight attendants Raquel Moore and Cayla Platt, married YouTubers Kim and Penn Holderness, and father-daughter duo Arun and Natalia Kumar. To start, the four teams flew from Greece to Portugal and had to make it to Fortale De São Filipe in Setúbal. Once there, they were faced with a nautical challenge in “Who Wants to Go Exploring?” The teams had to row across the marina in boats named after Portuguese explorers.

Season 33 of “The Amazing Race” came to an end on Wednesday night with Kim & Penn Holderness crossing the finish line in first place. (See the winners list.) The married internet personalities from Raleigh, North Carolina were greeted by their former competitors and host Phil Keoghan at the final pit stop. They won $1 million for their efforts and made history as the oldest couple to ever win. Flight attendants Raquel Moore & Cayla Platt finished in second place, best friends Ryan Ferguson & Dusty Harris were third and father/daughter duo Arun & Natalia Kumar were eliminated earlier in the finale in fourth place.
Kim is 45 years old and Penn is 47, making them the oldest couple to win the race with a combined age of 92. Season 5 champs Chip & Kim McAllister previously held the record. The duo went into the final challenge trailing Raquel & Cayla, but Kim’s tedious note taking and studying throughout the race led them to victory.

Dusty Harris and Ryan Ferguson struggled like never before on Wednesday night’s episode of “The Amazing Race.” The unstoppable duo had finished among the top two teams in each of the first five legs of the season, but a misstep at the “Say Cheese” Detour midway through Leg 6 put them in last place. With the odds stacked against them, Ryan used his superior athleticism at the roadblock and moved them into fifth place ahead of Akbar Cook, Sr. and Sheridan Cook.
“I asked [my pops] for a favor and he hooked it up,” Dusty said in the van ride to their kayak station. As tears began to flow, he continued, “Before every leg I’ve tried to have a conversation with my dad. I lost him this April. It was pretty hard on me, very unexpected. “The Amazing Race” returned Wednesday on CBS, nearly two years after production shut down in February 2020 due to the fast-spreading Covid-19 virus. In our video recap of the Season 33 premiere above, watch editors Denton Davidson and Paul Sheehan discuss their early favorites to win, which teams could improve the most this season and who deserves to be sent packing immediately.
“I was thrilled that it was back,” Sheehan exclaims. “It was nostalgic in the sense of seeing all these people without masks. It was ‘The Amazing Race,’ which I have loved since the first season.” Singing police officers Michael Norwood & Moe Badger couldn’t keep up with the competition and they became the first team eliminated from the race following Leg 1. No team was eliminated following the second leg, although twin sisters Lulu & Lala Gonzalez finished in last place.
