Denis Villeneuve’s sweeping sci-fi “Dune” (Warner Bros.) and Disney’s animated musical, “Encanto,” each led the 20th Ves Awards Tuesday night at the Beverly Hilton with four prizes, including photoreal feature VFX and animated feature VFX, respectively. “Last Night in Soho” (Focus Features) took supporting visual effects, and Apple TV+’s “Foundation” (“The Emperor’s Peace”) was named best photoreal episode.

It’s a good day for the creative teams behind Ray Donovan and Masters of Sex. Showtime renewed both summer dramas for fourth seasons today, announcing the news at the Television Critics Association summer press tour. Audiences for both series’ Season 3 premieres increased compared to the amount of viewers they had the previous year, with Ray Donovan drawing 1.61 million viewers, and Masters of Sex bringing in 1.1 million. Showtime Networks Inc. president David Nevins called Ray Donovan and Masters of Sex “signature series,” stating that both shows “are emblematic of what Showtime stands for – quality, premium programming that you cannot find anywhere else on television.
