It was a big night for Lainey Wilson at the ACM Awards. She opened the show with a bang and then capped her evening by winning the coveted “Entertainer of the Year” award.
Wilson opened the 2024 Academy of Country Music Awards with a cover of Little Texas’s 1993 hit, God Blessed Texas, along with her own Hang Tight Honey.
The singer was up for four awards this year and won three. It continues her hot hand at the ACMs. In 2023, she was the most-nominated artist and took home the most trophies.

Dylan Gossett is well aware that his career has been ridiculously fast-tracked.
In just one year’s time, the 25-year-old Austin, Texas, native went from half-seriously uploading songs to social media to becoming one of country music’s most in-demanded live draws. On the strength of a pair of EPs — including Songs in the Gravel that dropped in March — Gossett has consistently played to capacity crowds in the U.S. and abroad. Just three episodes are left in Fire Country Season 1.
In the show’s May 5 episode, “At the End of My Rope,” the crews are called to respond after a deadly explosion at an abandoned mine. Meanwhile, Bode (Max Thieriot) faces a difficult decision that could have serious consequences.
In the penultimate episode of the CBS drama, a private firefighting crew starts a backfire to protect a high-end winery.

Miranda Lambert’s 2021 collaborative album The Marfa Tapes, with Jack Ingram and Jon Randall, was a stripped-down set that helped resituate the Texas-born Lambert in the tradition of Lone Star singer-songwriters like Guy Clark and Robert Earl Keen. It also further cemented the country star’s reputation for stylistic risks — following 2019’s more conventionally fantastic Wildcard, and released in the same year she dropped a tropical house remix of “Tequila Does.”

Miranda Lambert has released another track off her upcoming album Palomino, ahead of its April 29 drop date. “Actin’ Up” is a swaggering slice of woozy country-rock, with Lambert dropping a wealth of pop-culture references in the lyrics.
In the first two verses alone, she alludes to Tommy James and the Shondells’ 1968 hit “Mony Mony,” Steve McQueen’s Mustang, and a golfer currently competing in this weekend’s Masters. “Even Tiger Woods couldn’t swing it this good,” Lambert sings.

Miranda Lambert sings about being in perpetual motion on her new album Palomino. Set for release April 29, it’s the follow-up to her collaborative 2021 album The Marfa Tapes and her first album under her own name since 2019’s Wildcard.
The track list includes a few songs from the bare-bones Marfa Tapes that are gussied up for Palomino, like “Geraldene” and “In His Arms.” There’s also a wealth of new compositions, many of them with songwriters Luke Dick and Natalie Hemby. Dick, Marfa Tapes alum Jon Randall, and Lambert produced the record.

Hundreds of Gold Derby users have made their predictions here in our predictions center. Scroll down for our official odds, which are based on those combined predictions. Our projected winners are highlighted in gold.
We’re betting on the ACMs to spread the wealth pretty evenly. In fact, the only artist we’re expecting to win more than once is Walker Hayes, who is tipped to win four awards, all for his breakthrough, crossover hit “Fancy Like”: Single of the Year as both artist and producer on the song, and Song of the Year as both artist and songwriter. He was also up for New Male Artist of the Year, whose results were announced in the days leading up to the ACMs, but...

This year’s Academy of Country Music Awards nominations were a bit polarizing with the glaring exclusions of some artists leading the new wave in country music right now like Kacey Musgraves and Mickey Guyton, and the inclusion of the all-too-controversial Morgan Wallen. With the show coming soon on March 7, let’s take a look at the album and song categories to see who’s likely to win.
Album of the Year
A couple possible scenarios could happen here. The nominee that would make the most sense winning would probably be Morgan Wallen, as “Dangerous: the Double Album” is the most successful album here by a huge margin and was in fact the biggest album of 2021 from any genre. However, I’m still not sure about how much the ACMs will want to give Wallen such a big honor, especially considering he was banned from competing and attending last year’s edition.

Two heads are better than one, so they say, and the Academy of Country Music voting members would seem to agree. As nominations for the 2022 ACM Awards rolled in on Thursday, numerous collaborative singles like Chris Young and Kane Brown’s “Famous Friends” found their way into major categories alongside Walker Hayes’ breakout hit “Fancy Like” and Morgan Wallen, who was banned from the 2021 ACM Awards after his racial-slur controversy.

Before he was even out of his mid-20s, Parker McCollum had established himself as one of the preeminent artists on the Texas music circuit — the sort of singer-songwriter with a country twang who could sell out arenas and amphitheaters across the Lone Star State, was as “Red Dirt” as they come, and had done it all independently. But McCollum didn’t want that.

The latest episode of CMT’s new series Campfire Sessions featured artists performing intimate acoustic versions of cover songs. Kelsea Ballerini had a standout performance on the July 1st episode, adding a little country twist to Fleetwood Mac’s “Dreams,” a 1977 song that went viral last year thanks to a TikTok video.
Ballerini’s rendition doesn’t have the keys or disco-lite beat of the original “Dreams,” but Stevie Nicks’ bittersweet melody gets center stage here amid a set of ringing open chords. With her band members backing her up,...

Miranda Lambert pays tribute to her Texas roots in the new song “Two-Step Down to Texas,” a track on her collaborative album The Marfa Tapes, a stripped-down, rustic record with Jack Ingram and Jon Randall.
“If you ever get time to two-step down to Texas/find yourself down ’round Austin way,” Lambert sings to kick off the song, which includes a multitude of Austin allusions. Miranda Lambert, Jack Ingram and Jon Randall stopped by The Late Show With Stephen Colbert Thursday night to perform their Marfa Tapes track “In His Arms.”
The trio gave the simple, sweet song an appropriate set-up, playing guitar and singing in front of a wood-beam backdrop surrounded by Edison bulbs. “Is he playing in some house band in Dallas?/Is he breaking horses in San Antone?” Lambert sang. “Is he all alone in the neon light?/I wish I was in his arms tonight.”

Jon Randall had been going to Marfa, Texas, and nearby Terlingua since the early 2000s, and he was quickly becoming an evangelist. “It was one of those places that just filled my heart,” the Texas-born songwriter and producer says. “Especially if you’re very creative and ever have an introspective part of you, it’s that place you want to be.”
Randall says he had “oversold” the place to his friends so many times that finally, in 2014, two of his fellow Lone Star natives took him up on the offer.

As the release of their collaborative album The Marfa Tapes draws near, the trio of Miranda Lambert, Jack Ingram, and Jon Randall are popping up with live appearances. On Wednesday, they performed the song “Geraldene” on The Ellen DeGeneres Show and followed it with the Thursday announcement of a new documentary.
Like their previous televised performances, the trio’s version of “Geraldene” is an all-acoustic performance that has the looseness of a friendly jam session. Lambert smiles her way through the funky, swaggering tune referencing a woman who’s “trailer-park pretty” and causing domestic trouble.

Joy Williams is not afraid to take pauses: in life, on stage, or even now, speaking as she reclines on a large emerald green couch in her Nashville living room. At this moment, she’s pondering the passage of time, something that has temporarily taken on its own hourglass-within-an-hourglass as she waits for the arrival of her second child, a brother to six-year-old Miles.
“Time is,” she says, remaining quiet for several long seconds with her chin tilted toward the ceiling, searching for exactly how she wants to finish that sentence.
