NewFest, a New York LGBTQ+ film and media organization, revealed the full lineup for their fourth annual NewFest Pride summer film series. NewFest’s five-day festival kicks off LGBTQ+ Pride Month from May 30 – June 3, 2024, in-person in New York and streaming throughout the United States, and will feature a mix of premieres and conversations, virtual screenings, and social events. The announcement came today from NewFest’s Executive Director David Hatkoff and Director of Programming Nick McCarthy.
“It’s no accident that this year’s NewFest Pride starts on May 30; it’s part of our not-so-secret mission to celebrate Pride 365 days a year,” said NewFest Executive Director David Hatkoff. “We can’t wait to provide a space for the community to come together for bold new films and series, thought-provoking conversations, and joyful social gatherings. This moment calls for celebration and resistance, and we intend to offer opportunities for both in equal measure.

In the third episode of the third and final season of “Pose,” the FX period drama goes back to the beginning to show off the first ball performance by Elektra’s (Dominique Jackson) new House of Abundance. The theme was “once upon a time,” but the house that appears before Abundance is more “broke-down princesses” than fairytale couture, as hair department head Barry Lee Moe puts it. Conversely, everyone in Elektra’s family comes more than correct, from Candy’s (Angelica Ross) pillow headdress for Sleeping Beauty to Blanca’s (Mj Rodriguez) fairest one of them all, aka Snow White to Elektra’s Evil Queen. It was 10s across the board, naturally, and a statement on what such icons of beauty could and should look like.

I first met Ryan Murphy on location in Hollywood in July. The set was a nightclub, filled with background actors staged as glistening go-go dancers, shirtless revelers, and twirling drag queens. They were all basking under the glow of a spinning disco ball — a fitting setting for my first Hollywood job interview.
I was flown in from New York City to meet with television’s most prolific showrunner, who was directing the pilot of “American Crime Story: The Assassination of Gianni Versace.” The day’s shoot concentrated on reconstructing a moment when the late Italian designer meets the man who will ultimately end his life. Our own meet-cute began (less tragically) between takes.
