Ol’ Kris Kringle wants everyone to have a Scary Little Christmas in Santa Isn’t Real. Bloody Disgusting can exclusively reveal the trailer for the upcoming holiday horror film, which offers a psychological twist to the killer Santa concept.
The holiday horror movie will be spreading holiday fear when it arrives on VOD and Digital on December 8 from XYZ films, with a limited theatrical release in Los Angeles.
In the film, “After suffering a brutal attack on Christmas eve, a young woman, Nikki, struggles to convince her friends that the assailant was none other than Ol’ Kris Kringle. When Santa returns to terrorize the group in their remote cabin the next Christmas, Nikki and her friends must overcome disbelief as they fight to stay alive.”
The trailer below decks the halls with murder and cheer, and teases a psychological component when Nikki finds herself trying to convince everyone that Santa is indeed real.

It's kind of baffling that "The Santa Clause" is one of those franchises that's still going on today. It feels like something we should be talking about in hushed whispers. Like, "Hey, remember that Disney movie where Tim Allen commits manslaughter against Santa Claus and then undergoes a Cronenbergian physical transformation into Jolly Old St. Nick after inadvertently entering a contractual agreement to take his place? The '90s were wild, man." To be fair, I'm sure even Allen had no idea he would still be playing the cynical toy marketing director turned fabled gift-giver Scott Calvin almost 30 years after starring in the original "Santa Clause".
Yet, here we are in 2023, with season 2 of the Disney+ sequel series "The Santa Clauses" right around the corner. Season 1, much like the feature-length "Santa Clause" sequels before it, was far from a critical darling, but it absolutely has its supporters and brought in...

Max Causey (Jared Korotkin) would probably be on the Naughty List if he hadn’t accidentally killed the man who writes it one fateful Christmas Eve when he was just six years old. Flash forward 12 years and Max still feels guilty about his trap that sent Santa to an early grave along with the world’s Christmas spirit. But although Max buried Santa’s body all those years ago, he kept Saint Nick’s brain fresh in a jar, and thanks to a groundbreaking electrocution experiment he’s been working on with his brilliant friend, Paige Byers (Ophelia Rivera), as well as the body parts he’s been stealing from the local morgue, Max sees an opportunity to finally bury his own guilt and bring Santa back from the dead. The only problem? Once resurrected, this new version of Santa, aka “Santastein,” has something much worse than coal in store...

Fox Hoped Promising Refunds Would Help Get People Into Theaters To See 1994's Miracle On 34th Street
These days, remakes are an all-too-prevalent part of the Hollywood machine. Not to get all old-man-yells-at-cloud on you, but it's gotten a bit silly of late. Even the likes of "Easy Rider" are being rebooted now. But long before, say, Disney began turning its beloved animated musicals into disorienting, desaturated live-action fare, movie studios always had a penchant for retreading successful material.
So it was back in 1994 when 20th Century Fox Studios decided it was high-time they remade the 1947 holiday classic "Miracle on 34th Street." The original captured the hearts of America, with Edmund Gwenn's Kris Kringle defending his claim of being the real Santa Claus in court, thereby restoring everyone's faith in the magic of existence. Valentine Davies' story, directed by George Seaton, simultaneously promoted corporate interests by heavily featuring department store giant Macy's, and critiqued big business encroachment on the festive season by depicting some good old...

The premise of John Pasquin's 1994 comedy film, "The Santa Clause," is darker than the movie's PG rating might lead one to believe. Tim Allen plays a shiftless, no-good dad named Scott Calvin, perhaps named after the 16th-century philosopher John Calvin who espoused a belief in Christian predetermination. Scott Calvin, on Christmas Eve, hears someone shuffling around on his roof. He goes outside to investigate and startles the interloper, causing them to fall to their death. Calvin finds that the interloper was Santa Claus ... the actual Santa Claus. Scott Calvin may be the only Disney hero who has killed Santa, unless there are dark things I cannot recall about Eeyore.
Calvin, instructed by Santa's business card, dons Santa's red suit and takes control of his sleigh, having to complete the big man's Christmas delivery in his stead. At the end of the night, he returns Santa's gear to the North Pole,...

Even though Halloween gets top billing for spooky season, Christmas is equally a time for high strangeness, supernatural phenomena, and paranormal activity. There are flying reindeer captained by an immortal time-traveling home invader, who happens to share DNA with saints and Odin. We have Ghosts of Christmases Past, Present, and Yet-to-come, which are actually inhuman entities that visit old misers. Then there’s the green-haired Sasquatch-esque cryptid who hides in the mountains and hates the holidays. And lest we forget, the main attraction for the holiday is a miracle baby born to a virgin, who calms barn animals, inspires drummer boys, and beckons forth magi via an unusual astronomical event.
Whether you prefer to sit by the yule log and share tales of happy little elves on shelves, or Christmas goblins from the underworld (the Southeastern European kallikantzaroi) — and whether you hope for a visit from Kris Kringle, or fear...

Santa Claus first appeared on film all the way back in 1898, when he starred in a short film by George Albert Smith called, appropriately, "Santa Claus." In it, a silent Santa sneaks across a rooftop, climbs down a chimney, and leaves gifts for a little girl and boy who are nestled in their beds.
Ever since, holiday films have been stuffed with depictions of Father Christmas. Some are nice, and some are naughty. Some are jolly, and some are degenerate. Most are merry, but a few are murderous. Many films try to put their own spin on the Santa mythos, too, trying to make their St. Nick stand out from the pack of present-carrying holiday patriarchs. But others simply try to spread holiday joy, offering something jolly to put on while you sip hot cocoa and trim the tree.

Prior to 1989, actor Leslie Nielsen was still best known for playing heavies and villains. Even when he appeared in comedy classics like "Airplane!" in 1980 or "Police Squad!" in 1982, his comedic power was derived from his ability to stay stonefaced while absurdity explodes around him. 1989, however, saw the release of "The Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad!" a film adaptation of the TV show. In that film, Nielsen played the role of Lt. Frank Drebin broadly, doing a lot of mugging and pratfalls. "The Naked Gun" was an enormous hit the year it was released, and Nielsen went full-bore into slapstick roles and spoof movies after that.
During the 1990s, Nielsen appeared in a litany of gloriously silly flicks like "Spy Hard," "Wrongfully Accused," "Repossessed" (a classic), "Dracula: Dead and Loving It," two of the "Scary Movie" sequels, and many others. Not all of these films were good, but...

"Miracle on 34th Street" is a Christmas classic that proves we've been worried about capitalism ruining the holiday magic since at least 1947. Considering how that particular concern is still heavier than the annual snowfall here in the states, it's a film that's just as relevant in 2022 as it was nearly 100 years ago. For those who haven't seen either version in a while (there was a remake in 1994), "Miracle on 34th Street" sees a man who claims to be the real Santa Claus successfully defend his implausible title in a court of law, as well as bring a little holiday hope to a hurting family.
The film is broadly considered to be a must-watch for any household's Christmas schedule and even found itself a snug little spot in the Academy Film Archive, so it's hilariously ironic how close the original "Miracle of 34th Street" came to capsizing under the weight of retail royalty.

Like a cyanide-laced sugarplum, Violent Night is a jolly and vicious burst of holiday mayhem. Bloody and crass, yet brimming with Christmas spirit, it’s a 110-minute joke that largely works because of how firmly everyone involved commits to the bit.
David Harbour stars as Santa Claus, first seen drinking his holiday blues away at a London watering hole. Santa’s having a rough Christmas Eve; kids are getting greedier and naughtier every year, and he’s thinking of hanging up the hat. His night doesn’t get any easier when he heads to the United States-based home of a wealthy, heartless matriarch (Beverly D’Angelo), whose family has been taken hostage by a gang of thieves (led by John Leguizamo). Christmas Bloody Christmas Review: A Robotic Santa Goes Haywire In This Uber-Stylish Holiday Slasher
Christmas has become a ripe season for horror. The holiday horror subgenre is alive and kicking, and it feels like every year we get at least a handful of Christmas-set creepers, usually involving some sort of killer Santa Claus. It's nothing new — Santa has been slashing for years, in one form or another. When TriStar Pictures released "Silent Night, Deadly Night" in 1984, complete with a poster featuring Santa's arm clutching an axe as he descends down a chimney, there was an uproar. The uproar was so loud that TriStar pulled the pic from theaters after a week — which wasn't such a big deal, as "Silent Night, Deadly Night" had already made back its meager budget, and then some, at that point.
"Silent Night, Deadly Night" wasn't the first film to feature some sort of evil Santa — 1978's thriller "The Silent Partner" has Christopher Plummer as a sadistic thief who dresses...

Is there a more perfect combination of capitalism and the more precious aspects of American life than the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade? Kindling festive excitement among the innocent children of the country is a wonderful thing, especially when it's sponsored by a store that wants to turn a decent profit for Christmas. As cynical as you want to be about it, there's no denying the annual event has become a beloved part of the holiday season stateside, signaling the immaculate melding of corporate interests with the human capacity for joy.
But believe it or not, before 1947 the parade didn't quite have the national recognition it does now. It wasn't until George Seaton's equally beloved interpretation of Valentine Davies' story "Miracle on 34th Street" hit theaters that the parade began being broadcast nationwide. In the classic Holiday comedy "Elf," Buddy (Will Ferrell), a human raised as a Christmas elf on the North Pole, returns to New York City to find his father. A fish out of water, Buddy fails to understand America's holiday traditions. Naturally, his ignorance gets him in a lot of trouble, including into a fight with a mall Santa, played by Artie Lange. According to Lange and director Jon Favreau, that scene had to be shot in only one take.
Buddy inadvertently lands a job at a Gimbels department store working as an elf. To his dismay, he discovers the mall Santa is not the one he grew up with on the North Pole. "He's an imposter!" Buddy yells to the crowd of children lined up to sit on Santa's lap. The mall Santa tackles Buddy into a Christmas tree and decorations, chases him, and swings a metal stanchion at him.

Exclusive: Jack Burditt assumed he had the blessing of Tim Allen when he was first asked to adapt The Santa Clause franchise for Disney+. But that wasn’t exactly the case.

David Harbour is boosting his resume as a badass in the first trailer for “Violent Night,” a holiday thriller featuring the “Stranger Things” star as Santa Claus.
Under the direction of Norwegian filmmaker Tommy Wirkola, Harbour plays a grizzlier, more rueful version of Kris Kringle, who is anything but jolly in the trailer. On Christmas Eve, (Not-So) Saint Nick encounters a family being held hostage by a team of mercenaries and is forced to take matters into his own hands.
Harbour is joined by an ensemble that includes Cam Gigandet, Beverly D’Angelo and John Leguizamo. The script was penned by Pat Casey and Josh Miller, who previously wrote the first and second live-action “Sonic the Hedgehog” movies.
An exclusive screening of “Violent Night” will be shown to an audience at New York Comic Con on Oct. 7, almost two months before the film’s premiere. Harbour first teased the project at CinemaCon in April,...
