Falling Forward Films has revealed a first look teaser trailer for a long-awaited independent superhero movie called Legend of the White Dragon, the feature directorial debut of "Super Power Beat Down" filmmaker Aaron Schoenke. This trailer comes from this year's San Diego Comic Con - the project was crowdfunded through Kickstarter and was initially set for 2023. Now it's aiming to open sometime in early 2024. In the film, three years after a tragic battle, Erik Reed returns to his city to protect his wife and daughter from a new threat. It's described as a "mature take on the Power Rangers franchise" and introduces a new universe. “Flabbergasted” is Georges Chamchoum’s choice word to use when thinking of Asia’s disappointingly low Oscar representation, especially given all the masterpieces that have come from the region.
Two years after South Korea’s Parasite won best picture, Chamchoum believes events such as the Asian World Film Festival, of which he serves as executive and program director, are essential to raising those statistics moving forward. Thanks to its mission to strengthen ties between the Asian and Hollywood film industries, Chamchoun says, “We are part of the puzzle that puts Asian- American art in the spotlight.”
This year, Awff (founded by Kyrgyz public figure Sadyk Sher-Niyaz) will showcase films to members of the Motion Picture Academy, the Hollywood Foreign Press Assn. and all the guilds during a critical phase of the awards season leading up to the Golden Globes and the Oscars. This article contains major The Suicide Squad spoilers. We have a spoiler free review here.
Five years ago, Will Smith uttered the instantly meme-able line, “So that’s it, huh, we’re the patsies, we’re some kind of Suicide Squad.” Yet by the end of that 2016 film, barely anyone in that squad was put six feet under. How times have changed.
For the entire rollout of his pseudo-sequel/reboot, writer-director James Gunn has insisted he had carte blanche to kill off any character in his The Suicide Squad roster. While we may remain skeptical if Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn and a few others were really that expendable to Warner Bros., Gunn’s finished film speaks to just how much freedom he was allotted in slaughtering potentially valuable DC IP. Major characters from the first film, and a slew of new ones Gunn personally introduced, were pushing up daisies...

One of the most wildly anticipated films of the summer hits theaters and on HBO Max on August 6, director James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad.
Gunn, along with actors Margot Robbie and John Cena, joined Jimmy Kimmel’s guest host Anthony Anderson about their new movie and Cena “stealing” his costume. Gunn also talked about working with Sylvester Stallone, why he put “Ratcatcher” in the movie, the craziest stunts that he had Robbie and Cena do on set, Anderson’s former co-worker Steve Agee playing the Shark in a motion capture suit for the film, and the upcoming Peacemaker show on HBO Max.
Gunn says of his latest film, “I wanted to do the ultimate all-time comic book movie!”

Warner Bros. gave select fans and critics an early look at “The Suicide Squad” on Wednesday night at LA Live in downtown Los Angeles, and the first reactions spilling out on social media are enthusiastic bordering on hyperbolic.
Now first, as always, it’s wise to take these things with a grain of salt. Studios curate very early movie previews — “The Suicide Squad” doesn’t hit theaters until Aug. 6 — to maximize hype. Plenty of times fans have poured out of a screening of a movie with gushing praise, only for the film to turn out to be terrible.
But uh, that said, this movie was written and directed by the always excellent James Gunn. And frankly, we’re highly inclined to assume whatever praise comes in for the guy behind “Sliver,” “Super” and of course the “Guardians of the Galaxy” franchise is, if anything, not extravagant enough. Which is to say,...

In November 2019, I found myself in the middle of a war zone. Well, the closest approximation of a war zone I’ve ever found myself in during my time visiting the sets of blockbuster movies. If I had been brought to this particular set in Atlanta on a sunny autumn afternoon without knowing what movie it was that I was supposed to be getting a peek at, the scene presented to a group of journalists probably would have convinced me that this was some new war movie or straight up action blockbuster, and not one that features a collection of DC villains and antiheroes at its core.
The set in question is called “Jotunheim” and it’s apparently an objective Task Force X needs to conquer in The Suicide Squad. But for all intents and purposes, this could be the kind of Nazi fortress that the gritty characters of movies...

The latest trailer for director James Gunn’s “The Suicide Squad” is here, after seemingly leaking online early.
An unlisted YouTube video with the new trailer circulated online with the title “The Suicide Squad – Early Access Trailer Do Not Share.” Intentional or not, Gunn tweeted that some of the cast members released the trailer online earlier than expected. Warner Bros.’ Brazilian and Canadian Twitter accounts even joined in on the fun.

In a brand-new trailer for “The Suicide Squad,” we finally get to learn a bit more about the villain Bloodsport (Idris Elba) and why he was forced onto the team. It turns out he had to learn the hard way not to try and murder the world’s most beloved Superhero.
“He’s in prison for putting Superman in the ICU with a Krypotnite bullet,” Amanda Waller (Viola Davis) explains. Which, yeah obviously. The new trailer was posted this morning by director James Gunn and you can watch it here right now.
The rest of the trailer pretty much tells you what you already know — for example, “your mission is to destroy every trace of something known only as Project Starfish,” Waller also says — but in a continuing-to-be-extremely fun way, as is traditional for “The Suicide Squad” trailers. And come to think of it, James Gunn things in general.

"I'm going to get you out of here alive." Ahahaha amazing. Warner Bros has released a third official trailer for James Gunn's new The Suicide Squad movie, arriving in theaters everywhere this August. Dax Phelan is directing the pic, which follows Kenny “The Beast” Breen (Bisping), an alcoholic, drug-abusing, past-his-prime journeyman boxer who, after being diagnosed with neurological damage, continues his career on the small-hall circuit at grave risk to himself and lands a fight with his former rival who’s gone on to become a star in the division. “The Suicide Squad” had a trick up its sleeve on April Fools Days as Warner Bros released a new PG-13 friendly trailer. But don’t worry, the actual release is still gonna have plenty of R-rated swears in it. Watch the trailer above.
There’s plenty to love in this one. Just like last week’s delightful red band trailer, the new one makes it clear this is a James Gunn movie through and through. It isn’t as lighthearted as the first trailer but it’s still the awkward banter, actually good jokes, and a soundtrack built on actually interesting choices.
Also like in the first trailer, once again John Cena’s Peacemaker is the real standout with some positively hilarious lines. “I cherish peace with all my heart,” he says at one point. “I don’t care how many men, women and children I need to kill to get it.

Ahead of its August 6th release in theaters, IMAX, and HBO Max via Warner Bros., James Gunn's The Suicide Squad is teased in a new trailer packed with superpowered mayhem.
"From writer/director James Gunn comes Warner Bros. Pictures’ superhero action adventure “The Suicide Squad,” featuring a collection of the most degenerate delinquents in the DC lineup.
Welcome to hell—a.k.a. Belle Reve, the prison with the highest mortality rate in the US of A. Where the worst Super-Villains are kept and where they will do anything to get out—even join the super-secret, super-shady Task Force X. Today’s do-or-die assignment? Assemble a collection of cons, including Bloodsport, Peacemaker, Captain Boomerang, Ratcatcher 2, Savant, King Shark, Blackguard, Javelin and everyone’s favorite psycho, Harley Quinn. Then arm them heavily and drop them (literally) on the remote, enemy-infused island of Corto Maltese. Trekking through a jungle teeming with...

Warner Bros. has debuted the first full-length, R-rated trailer for The Suicide Squad, DC Comics’ second attempt to adapt the superhero franchise for the big screen. The film arrives in theaters and HBO Max on August 6th.
The new Suicide Squad sees the return of Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Viola Davis as Amanda Waller, Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flag, and Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang. But with Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn helming this film, the franchise has taken on more of a Seventies action movie feel.

"Who knows why madmen do what they do?" Warner Bros has revealed the first official red band trailer for James Gunn's new The Suicide Squad movie, a standalone sequel to the original Suicide Squad from 2017. Introducing a big batch of new characters. Holy smokes this looks awesome!! This ensemble anti-hero DC action comedy boasts one hell of an explosive ensemble cast, bringing back Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, and Viola Davis as Amanda Waller. With a whole bunch of other exceptional talent: Idris Elba, Joel Kinnaman, John Cena, Jai Courtney, Michael Rooker, Flula Borg, Daniela Melchior, Steve Agee, David Dastmalchian, Mayling Ng, Peter Capaldi, Alice Braga, Pete Davidson, Sean Gunn, Storm Reid, Nathan Fillion, Joaquín Cosío, Juan Diego Botto, and Taika Waititi as King Shark. It's clear that James Gunn was the perfect guy to handle this kind of ensemble madness, and I am so excited to see this.

James Gunn and Warner Bros. debuted the first, R-rated trailer for “The Suicide Squad” on Friday, and it’s clear the foul-mouthed supervillain spectacular doesn’t skimp on all manner of bad behavior.
The main story is still out of reach, but the trailer opens with a mission to rescue Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn that proves unnecessary, as Harley already got herself out of whatever scrape she found herself in.
One of the biggest revelations, however, is that Sylvester Stallone is providing the voice for King Shark, who is, basically, a man with a shark head.
Oh, and then there’s the giant, colorful starfish kaiju who begins to rampage at the end of the trailer.
“The Suicide Squad” is something of a sideways sequel to 2016’s “Suicide Squad.” Several of the first film’s stars are reprising their roles, including Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Viola Davis as Amanda Waller,...

After Suicide Squad 2 failed to find momentum under director Gavin O’Connor and writer Todd Stashwick, the studio brought in Guardians of the Galaxy writer/director James Gunn to breathe new life into Suicide Squad 2. The sequel to the 2016 film is now known as The Suicide Squad, which would seem to indicate that they’re looking to distance themselves a little from the first film. Understandable, as despite it’s nearly $750 million global box office haul, it wasn’t particularly beloved by critics, and appeared to be the victim of some hasty editing to counter the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice backlash.
But now with Gunn as both writer and director, The Suicide Squad will likely be a very different film. Gunn has said on social media that he hopes to deliver something more along the lines of the late ’80s action movie with superpowers that the classic...

Sequel The Suicide Squad may have been described in this past summer’s FanDome teaser trailer as “a gritty 1970s war movie,” but director James Gunn recently addressed audience incredulity regarding the stakes evocative of such a description, specifically when it comes to the survivability of its immense ensemble of DC Comics antiheroes. No one is safe, and he means no one.
Gunn, never one to shy away from direct interaction with fan comments, started a Twitter conversation promoting The Suicide Squad’s upcoming photo-debuting Empire cover story by asking fans which two characters are likely to survive. However, one critical response pointed to the “franchise armor” that would protect some characters—specifically those for whom DC and Warner Bros. has future plans. Indeed, the purportedly protected class of characters includes Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn (who makes her third Dceu appearance), Viola Davis’s returning team overseer, Amanda Waller,...

Fans are sitting on the edge of their seat in anticipation of James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad, which is set to open in theaters August 6, 2021. A sequel to David Ayer’s 2016 superhero-supervillain pic, the movie has a robust cast of characters. That said, Gunn took to Twitter to address whether or not all of them will survive. The short answer is: no.
In a tweet showcasing the new cast pic on the cover of Empire magazine, Gunn asked “What two characters do you think are most likely to survive #TheSuicideSquad?”
A fan remarked that Harley Quinn, King Shark and Amanda Waller are essentially protected and have “franchise armor” while there is an 80% chance all the other characters will die. Gunn responded: “No character was protected by DC. They gave me carte blanche to do what I wanted. That was one of the things we agreed to before I came to work for them.

At DC Fandome’s panel for The Suicide Squad, Warner Brothers and the crew of the movie finally revealed all of the returning characters for the upcoming movie, and I still can’t believe we’re finally getting big screen Arm Fall Off Boy. Also Harley Quinn is back.
Returning from the first movie are several characters: Harley Quinn, played almost perfectly (twice!) by Margot Robbie; Boomerang gets to be a Captain in this movie, played by Jai Courtney; Viola Davis’ Amanda Waller; and Joel Kinnaman’s Rick Flagg. But it’s the new cast members who are big surprises.
Check out this stylish video revealing who everybody’s playing. It’s pretty great. Then we’ll help explain who is who.
John Cena joins the movie as Peacemaker. We’ll have more on him soon, but he’s a Captain America-type heavily involved in the super spy agencies of the DC universe.

James Gunn is beloved among superhero movie fans for directing “Guardians of the Galaxy” and its “Vol. 2” sequel in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but he’s jumping ship temporarily to the DC Extended Universe for the upcoming “The Suicide Squad.” Gunn attended today’s virtual DC FanDome convention alongside his cast members such as Idris Elba, Margot Robbie, Jai Courtney, and Viola Davis, among others, to debut first-look images and footage from his latest comic-book tentpole. The movie is billed as a gritty 1970s war movie combined with Gunn’s comedic sensibilities.
“The Suicide Squad” is a standalone sequel to David Ayer’s 2016 movie “Suicide Squad,” which is memorable for introducing Robbie’s fan-favorite turn as Harley Quinn. James Gunn stopped by DC FanDome to talk about The Suicide Squad and he answered the burning question, “who is playing who?” in the forthcoming follow up to the 2016 Warner Bros. movie. Well, here’s the answer to that.
Viola Davis will reprise her role as Amanda Waller while Joel Kinnaman will play Colonel Rick Flag and Michael Rooker will play Savant. Flula Borg will step into the role of Javelin and of course, Margot Robbie will continue to cause trouble as Harley Quinn. David Dastmalchian will see spots as Polka Dot Man and Daniela Melchior will be Ratcatcher 2. Idris Elba will be armed as Bloodsport and Steve Agee will play King Shark. Mayling Ng will portray Mongal and Peter Capaldi will get brainy as Thinker and Alice Braga will be Sol Soria. Rounding out the bunch is Pete Davidson as Blackguard, Nathan Fillion as Tdk, Sean Gunn as Weasel,...

"She gave it up way too easy, French." Samuel Goldwyn Films has debuted the first official trailer for Debt Collectors, also known as The Debt Collector 2, a sequel to the 2018 action crime thriller also titled The Debt Collector (also with Scott Adkins and also directed by former stuntman Jesse V. Johnson). As the title indicates, this time there are Two debt collectors who get into a whole load of trouble trying to collect from a dirty casino owner in Las Vegas. "Facing danger from all angles, the pair will have no other choice but to fight their way out of an explosively dangerous situation." Of course. Scott Adkins and Louis Mandylor star as French and Sue, along with Vladimir Kulich, Mayling Ng, Louie Ski Carr, Charity Collins, and Marina Sirtis. This looks exactly like the extra dumb, packed with pointless action, barely bargain bin, pile of filmmaking junk you're expecting it to look like.
