- Thomas Weissmuller began acting as a child in elementary school and at a local playhouse in his hometown where his mother wrote, performed, and directed plays. He began training in the martial arts and competitive swimming at age eleven. Thomas entered college as a theater major but NCAA swimming requirements conflicted with the theater curriculum and afternoon rehearsals. Determined to continue swimming, he changed majors.
Ultimately, Thomas secured his doctoral degree in jurisprudence with emphasis in Constitutional studies. He became a trial attorney and trial judge, which he says, is not so different from stage or film work. He continued training and coaching throughout his legal career. Acting and Improvisation became pastimes, along with competitive submission wrestling, stick fighting, mixed martial arts, and sport jiu-jitsu competitions.
Thomas holds black belt or higher, (instructor level), rank in nine systems of martial arts. He has trained extensively in programs headed by Cacoy Canete, Christoher Petrilli, Ray Yee, Andras Szarka, Ted Sotelo, Erik Paulson, Burton Richardson, Dan Inosanto, Jay D'Amato, Rickson Grace, Carl Franks, Robb Thornton, Rob Eis, Sherril Johnson, Roland Romer, Michael Witgen, Carol "Karl" Hasegawa, Jeremiah Minner, Restita "Rusty"Dejesus, Tom Orff, John Trenge, Jared Gruczk, and Erik Johnstone. He counts many on this list as his training partners and friends.
Today, Thomas enjoys training everyday. He instructs a weekly military program and mindfulness program. He oversees Estate litigation in a small law practice, and enjoys writing, lecturing, coaching, acting, and stunt work. He focuses on movie projects because they fit into his flexible schedule, are the most fun, and require greatest focus for the duration. He lives in Rhode Island and Massachusetts but visits New York, Washington, Florida, and New Mexico routinely. He travels the country for a movie or other work related projects.- IMDb Mini Biography By: Anonymous
