“Girls5eva” deserves to be heard. Yes, the laugh-out-loud comedy, from the minds of Tina Fey, Robert Carlock, creator Meredith Scardino and others, is funny. The music industry is wickedly skewered. The music, led by Jeff Richmond, is clever and catchy.

These are women of a certain age who are rediscovering their voices and finally taking on their dreams, after years of settling for something less.
Variety‘s Awards Circuit Podcast recently spoke to Philipps and Pell about Season 3 of “Girls5eva,” what the show has meant to them and the special message that it resonates between the laughs. Listen below!

Eva Longoria understands that for Latinos, attaining success is only half the battle — amplifying that success is key to ensuring more Latinos get the same opportunities.
“Anytime any Latino is recognized for their work it’s a great feeling,” the “Flamin’ Hot” filmmaker, producer and actress told TheWrap. “The whole point of doing what I do — whether it’s directing or producing — is to amplify the voices of the Latino community.”
Longoria was a successful actress in soaps before her breakout role in ABC’s “Desperate Housewives,” and she subsequently launched her own production company to help spearhead shows and movies that showcase Latin American stories and people.
That drive to push boundaries in the entertainment sector is at the heart of TheWrap’s first-ever Latino Power List, which celebrates trailblazers changing the game for Latinos in media. The list spans actors, directors, writers, executives, dealmakers, journalists and up-and-comers who...

Singer-actor Whitney Houston’s life ended tragically in 2012, but her voice is resounding as loudly as it has at any time in the years since, with this weekend’s long-awaited release of the biopic “I Wanna Dance With Somebody” coming on top of the RCA and Legacy labels’ 30th anniversary re-release of the blockbuster “Bodyguard” soundtrack.
“I feel as great about the new movie, as I have always felt about her music,” says Clive Davis, the legendary label executive who founded Arista Records in 1974 and signed Whitney Houston in 1983, eventually becoming a confidante and father figure.
Davis’ latest role is that of co-producer of “I Wanna Dance with Somebody,” a job he relishes while acknowledging his actors with pride. “Stanley (Tucci) does a wonderful job of playing me. And though the vocals are all Whitney’s, the actress, Naomi Ackie, does a remarkable performance and really captures Whitney. I wouldn...
