It’s been a while since we’ve gotten any original material from Train, but the pop group just unveiled a brand new single entitled “Play That Song,” which comes off their upcoming album set for release sometime next year.
The most noticeable thing about “Play That Song” right off the bat is that it’s got a lighthearted, pure-pop radio single sound that the band hasn’t delved into too much since their record California 37. Their last album, 2014’s Bulletproof Picasso, was ultimately a disappointment, but its singles like “Angel In Blue Jeans” and “Cadillac, Cadillac” had more of an alternative-pop vibe to it. “Play That Song” is essentially a return to form for Train, and that form has gotten them to the top of the charts for nearly two decades.

James Dean would have turned 85 years old on Monday. Feb. 8. Of course, Dean died in an automobile crash on Sept. 30, 1955. He was only 24 years old at the time, meaning that he's been dead almost three times as long as he was alive, yet the image of the heartthrob star still persists - uniquely among stars of his era and uniquely among stars who died young. He still appears on posters, in magazines and in representations on film, and young people today might well know who he is, even if they've never seen one of his movies. In celebration of Dean's 85th birthday,...

They sold out arenas thanks to era-defining ditties like "Freeway," "Walkin' Shoes" and "Mama You're a Dancer." The grainy, faded footage of them in concert in L.A. circa 1974 testifies that no one worked a country-tinged, Am-radio groove better. Cameron Crowe, Daryl Hall and the ladies of Haim are all diehard fans. "Every song was a single, and every single was great," claims Chuck Klosterman, in reference to the chart-topping album Catalina Breeze. "I was completely blown away by that record," says Kenny Loggins. "We all tried to capture that thing,...

Lana Del Rey may be in Oscar contention with the title track from Tim Burton's film "Big Eyes," and she gets some help from five-time Oscar nominee Amy Adams and two-time winner Christoph Waltz in the song's new lyric video. With its big percussion, trumpet flourishes and soaring vocals, the atmospheric ballad wouldn't sound out of place in a James Bond film. Instead, it provides a melancholic soundtrack to the tale of painter Margaret Keane (Adams) and her spotlight-stealing husband Walter (Waltz). Composed of dramatic and eye-popping "Big Eyes" clips, the new video basically serves as another trailer for the film, only with Del Rey's on-the-nose lyrics painted onto the images. We also see co-stars Krysten Ritter, Jason Schwartzman, Danny Huston and Terence Stamp. Watch the video here: The song was co-written by Daniel Heath, who also co-wrote Del Rey's 2012 single "Blue Jeans," and could end up with an...

While promoting her album “Ultraviolence,” Lana Del Rey sat down with Complex magazine to discuss her racy tracks.
In the August/September 2014 issue, the “Blue Jeans” singer opened up about her relationships and the meaning behind her tune “F*cked My Way Up to The Top.”
“It's commentary, like, 'I know what you think of me,' and I'm alluding to that. You know, I have slept with a lot of guys in the industry, but none of them helped me get my record deals. Which is annoying.”
In addition, Lana discussed her relationship between violence and love. "I like a physical love. I like a hands-on. How can I say this without getting into too much trouble? I like a tangible, passionate love. For me, if it isn't physical, I'm not interested."...

Do you think Danny Trejo thought he was auditioning for Snowpiercer, a movie about a train, when he was actually auditioning to lip-synch a Train song in a Train music video? I know that's a stretch, but I really can't think of a better explanation as to why I'm sitting here watching Danny Trejo lip-synch these Train lyrics. (Also, is there not a more Train-sounding song title than "Angel in Blue Jeans"?)...

This morning, Lana Del Rey released the music video for "West Coast," the first single off her upcoming album Ultraviolence. The video is Lana, well, being Lana. It might just be her most Lana Del Rey-y video yet. 1. Everything is black-and-white. Very old school. Very Old Hollywood. Very "Blue Jeans" music video, with a dash of the "National Anthem" intro. 2. Including black-and-white palm trees. The song is called "West Coast." Of course there are palm trees. 3. Bits of home video. They're not as home video-y as, say, "Video Games" (she's not filming herself with a Macbook anymore, people, she's famous), but more along the...
