Hey, Movie fans. We know what you're here for and we're here to give it to you. A couple of big, wide release movies are indeed hitting theaters this week, May 17, 2019. Two of them appear to be dramas while the other one is surely a hit action flick, and that's the one I'll be going to see in particular. The first movie that's set to hit theaters in wide release on May 17, 2019 is: "A Dog's Journey." It's listed as being a family movie. It's also a drama too. So, we'll call it a Family drama flick. It's rated PG. It stars: Josh Gad, Dennis Quaid, Marg Helgenberger, Betty Gilpin, Kathryn Prescott, and Henry Lau. It's actually a sequel to the original 2017 film titled, "A Dog's purpose." The plot summary for "A Dog's Journey" reads like this: "The soulful story of one devoted dog who finds the meaning of his own...

Music has been a defining element of big-screen coming-of-age dramas since the 1980s, when John Hughes delivered his music-infused "high school trilogy." That continues to hold true for MGM and Warner Bros.' The Sun Is Also a Star, a film adaptation of Nicola Yoon's best-selling book.
Based in part on Yoon's own experience, the Ry Russo-Young-directed pic stars Grown-ish's Yara Shahidi as Natasha Kingsley and Riverdale's Charles Melton as Daniel Bae, two young teens whose sidewalk collision evolves into a whirlwind romance on the eve of Natasha's deportation.

When director Ry Russo-Young first read the script for The Sun Is Also a Star, like the two main characters, she said she fell in love.
The young adult romance about two first-generation immigrants explores the relationship between a Jamaican-American named Natasha Kingsley (Yara Shahidi) and a Korean-American named Daniel Bae (Charles Melton). The story takes place over a 24-hour period as they explore New York City and fall in love all while navigating racial tensions and immigrant relations in contemporary America.

Ah, the Spring, when hearts turn to love. But is there room for romance at the multiplex, with a certain Mr. Wick taking out a near-endless platoon of assassins just a couple screens down, next to naughty R-rated romp? Well, the studios seem to think so, especially since this is based on a popular “young adult” novel (The Fault In Our Stars certainly did well five summers ago). Unlike that flick, there’s no “grim reaper” lurking about as he did a couple of months past in Five Feet Apart, though, as we find out, there is a clock “ticking down” on our two incredibly photogenic TV star young lovers. Oh, and one half of the pair is an aspiring college astronomy major, which is why she gets to state the title The Sun Is Also A Star.

“I thought it would take me a lifetime to understand the human heart,” says Natasha Kingsley (Yara Shahidi), a montage of New York City playing underneath her voiceover. “All it took was a single day.” Given the placement of that line of dialogue, this means it takes roughly three minutes for someone watching The Sun Is Also a Star, the adaptation of Nicola Yoon’s 2016 Ya novel, to roll their eyes. This is the first time you’ll find yourself rotating those orbs a full 360-degrees in exasperation, and given...

Ask Natasha Kingston (Yara Shahidi) who she adores, and she’ll answer astronomer Carl Sagan, whose presence hovers like Cupid over Ry Russo-Young’s winsome and intelligent teen romance “The Sun Is Also a Star,” based on the bestselling Ya novel by Nicola Yoon. Like Sagan, Natasha is rational and trusts only in the scientific method. Love, she insists, is “legit dead-ass not real” — or at least, it’s not provable — until Natasha cosmically collides with moony high schooler Daniel Bae (Charles Melton) when her baseball jacket embroidered “Deus Ex Machina” catches the would-be poet’s attention.
Alas, tomorrow, Ins is scheduled to deport Natasha, an undocumented Jamaican. Between appointments with her immigration lawyer (John Leguizamo), the strangers have one day to wander the city debating their destiny, during which Daniel takes his cues from the New York Times’ viral 2015 Modern Love column “To Fall in Love With Anyone, Do This.

“The Sun Is Also a Star,” was so painfully close to being an enjoyable experience. I should have felt swept up in Ry Russo-Young’s romantic drama about two interesting young characters from immigrant backgrounds falling for each other as they shared their passions and stories. Instead, there are periodic reminders that something about this movie is off. It’s not so distracting that the movie loses its sense of romantic fantasy, but it’s jarring enough that my audience’s early reactions of “Awww…” eventually turned into groans.
Based on Nicola Yoon’s Ya novel of the same title, “The Sun Is Also a Star” follows Natasha Kingsley, a Jamaican-born aspiring astronomer, on what could be her last day in New York City before she and her family are deported. In the middle of this chaotic time, during which she chases one last hope to stay with the help...

We didn't think it was possible but, alas, Camila Mendes and Charles Melton just got even more adorable. To celebrate the premiere of his flick The Sun Is Also a Star, Camila took to Instagram to post a congratulatory—and touching—message last night. (Warning: You're about to get a little misty.) "i remember the day @melton told me about this project," she wrote of the coming-of-age film, in which he stars alongside Yara Shahidi. "he hadn't even been cast yet. they hadn't even started casting. all he told me was 'I'm going to play this role, i am daniel bae.' aside from having the biggest heart out of anyone i know, his passion and...

College-bound romantic Daniel Bae and Jamaica-born pragmatist Natasha Kingsley meet—and fall for each other—over one magical day amidst the fervor and flurry of New York City. Sparks immediately fly between these two strangers, who might never have met had fate not given them a little push. But will fate be enough to take these teens from star-crossed to lucky in love? With just hours left on the clock in what looks to be her last day in the U.S., Natasha is fighting against her family’s deportation as fiercely as she’s fighting her budding feelings for Daniel, who is working just as hard to convince her they are destined to be together. "What if I told you I could get you to fall in love with me...?" Warner Bros has debuted the first trailer for a romantic drama titled The Sun Is Also a Star, the latest from director Ry Russo-Young. Adapted from the novel of the same name, the film is about a young woman who falls for a sweet-talking charmer on the day before she is to be deported back to her native country of Jamaica. Set in New York City, Yara Shahidi (from "Black-ish" and "Grown-ish") stars as Natasha, and Charles Melton as Daniel Bae, the guy who woos her. Also starring John Leguizamo, Hill Harper, Gbenga Akinnagbe, Camrus Johnson, Jake Choi, Keong Sim, and Cathy Shim. This looks like a gorgeous film, and I dig all the nerdy science and space talk in this. Might just be a winner based on the footage in here. Take a look.

Science may be by the book, but love, not as much.
In the exclusive trailer premiere of The Sun Is Also a Star, Natasha (Grown-ish’s Yara Shahidi) declares that she doesn’t believe in love after a chance encounter with Daniel (Riverdale’s Charles Melton), who feels chemistry right off the bat.
Shahidi herself isn’t quite as jaded.
“I do!” the actress, 18, tells People in this week’s about whether she believes in love. “Because like when you hear my parent’s story, it’s kind of hard not to. But I understand her [Natasha’s] cynicism, and I understand...
