Kacey Musgraves has released a studio version of the oft-covered Bob Marley and The Wailers classic “Three Little Birds.” Her rendition is for Reinaldo Marcus Green’s upcoming biopic Bob Marley: One Love.
Musgraves wisely didn’t try to replicate Marley’s roots reggae instrumentation here. Instead, she used his melodies and evergreen lyrics over a gentle acoustic guitar strum, some minimal drums, and a pedal steel. It’s all blanketed in heavy reverb, staying authentic to the comforting quality of the original song while making it her own.
“Three Little Birds” is just one of six Marley covers on an eponymous EP accompanying One Love. That’ll also feature Leon Bridges, Daniel Caesar, Bloody Civilian, Jessie Reyez, Wizkid, and Bob’s grandson Skip Marley. Stream Musgraves’ contribution and then see the full EP tracklist below.

The last time Sean Combs’ music competed at the Grammys, a then-unknown Mark Zuckerberg had just created Facebook, Nipplegate occurred at the Super Bowl and The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King garnered a record-tying 11 Oscars. It was 2004, and Combs, aka Diddy, won best rap performance by a group or duo — his third Grammy — for the thumping hit “Shake Ya Tailfeather,” featuring Nelly and Murphy Lee. The track appeared on the Bad Boys II soundtrack, which Diddy executive produced and released on his Bad Boy label.
So his return to the Grammys, two decades later with a nomination for best progressive R&b album for his The Love Album: Off the Grid, is a major feat — and a proud moment for the artist. Some would even call the nomination a win (though we should note that there is zero chance his album can compete with Sza’s...

It might be early January, but it’s never too early for some “Cruel Summer.” On Thursday, Teddy Swims visited BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge, where he performed a cover of the Taylor Swift Lover favorite.
Swims started the rendition backed only by a piano as he whispered the opening lyrics, before being joined by a drum kit as he hit the high notes in the song’s chorus, and gave a soulful rendition of the song’s iconic bridge.
“Cruel Summer” had a huge 2023, four years after its initial release.

Stephen Colbert is set to return to the Ed Sullivan Theater on Monday after suffering a ruptured appendix.
The Late Show was canceled last week after the comedian had to have surgery. It meant that he wasn’t able to talk to guests including Jennifer Garner, Baz Luhrmann, Patrick Stewart, Jon Batiste and Kelsey Grammer, nor air Barbra Streisand taking The Colbert Questionert.
However, he is planning to be on the show next week and has lined up a guest list of stars.
On Monday, Sarah Paulson and Jason Isbell will be on the show with the Drive-By Trucker performing with his band the 400 Unit. Tuesday sees Mark Ruffalo and a performance by Daniel Caesar; Wednesday has Nicki Minaj and Sara Bareilles, while Colbert will close out the week with Rep. Liz Cheney, who is touting a new book with the revelation that Donald Trump was “depressed” and “not eating” after the January 6 insurrection.

Talk shows have always been good campaigning spots, and this year they were even more so. Omar Apollo is back with a new four-track EP, Live for Me, sharing a music video to go along with the title-track as well.

It's not just the Jimmy Kimmel Live show that's being affected. It's all of the late night talk shows because they all need writers on a daily basis to do a show. Since they're all on strike, that's not going to happen, and we could see this go on for months if this writers strike doesn't get cleared up soon. The singer-songwriter has had a great year with the success of her sophomore album, “Sos.” It’s indisputably the frontrunner for Best Progressive R&b Album. There is, perhaps, a chance that the record could be moved to the pop field because it juggles many genres at once, but let’s assume it’s in R&b for now.

Brooklyn Beckham and Nicola Peltz threw one hell of a wedding last April. So much so that the multi-million-dollar bash has still left them with a slight hangover: a lawsuit.
Peltz’s billionaire investor father, Nelson Peltz, sued Miami wedding planners Nicole Braghin and Arianna Grijalba of Plan Design Events in December over the $159,000 deposit he paid the team after they were brought on just six weeks before the wedding. Nelson Peltz alleges that Braghin and Grijalba — who were taking over from another planner — exaggerated their experience and failed to deliver on promises,...

Lil Yachty is rich. The 25-year-old musician posts TikToks featuring exotic Italian furniture, and goes vintage shopping with Drake. By the time he graduated high school, he’d already bought his mom a house. He caused a mild international incident with his viral hit “Poland,” a loosie released late last year in which he croons, with impossible sincerity, about bringing illegal pharmaceuticals into Poland. One couldn’t imagine a more charmed Gen Z existence. And yet, on “:(failure(:,” an early interlude from his left-turn of a new album,...

Dynamic mother-daughter and best friend duo Ginny (Antonia Gentry) and Georgia Miller (Brianne Howey) return in “Ginny & Georgia” Season 2, which gets even more chaotic than the already very complex first season of the Netflix show. Another of Georgia’s past loves enters the mix, she commits some more questionable actions and many other twists and turns develop within the 10 hour-long episodes.
Ginny and her friends are no strangers to the TikTok scene, so some song choices reflect Gen Z’s poppy preferences. The show is also not afraid to explore both the high, happy feelings of life as well as the deeper, darker, lower ones, and it does so sonically with some beautiful choices. Felix Mallard chose a song for an important scene of his, and actress Brianne Howey easily chose a song to embody her character Georgia.

Several of the most striking videos from the last few months — Omar Apollo’s “Invincible,” Bad Bunny’s “Moscow Mule,” Rosalia’s “Candy” — have one thing in common: a director’s credit that reads “By Stillz.” Though the name seems to be everywhere, there’s not much info out there about who Stillz is. His Instagram account is known for stark Polaroid shots, à la Andy Warhol, that have captured artists such as Daddy Yankee, Asap Rocky, and Jennifer Lopez at their most natural — but the lens is always turned on someone else.

White Pine Pictures executive Andrew Munger has re-launched his outfit Ultramagnetic Productions with a slate of drama and documentary projects.
Munger first operated Ultramagnetic Productions from 1997 to 2004, producing non-fiction projects including “Walmart Nation,” “Campaign: The Making of a Candidate,” “Xanadu: In Search of Domestic Perfection” and “Make Some Noise!” for networks such as the CBC, Discovery, History and Life/Slice. Gone but never forgotten. On what would have been Cameron Boyce's 23rd birthday, Sofia Carson shared a sweet social media tribute to her late Descendants co-star. "Our Angel. Forever, " she wrote on Instagram on May 28. "I adore you my Cam." Along with the tender words, Sofia shared a rare video of Cameron playing and acoustic guitar and singing the lyrics, "just want to see how beautiful you are" from Daniel Caesar and H.E.R.'s 2017 song "Best Part." SEERock and Roll Hall of Fame 2022 inductees: Pat Benatar, Duran Duran, Eminem, Eurythmics, Dolly Parton, Lionel Richie, Carly Simon Top Billboard 200 Album

Justin Bieber promised “Honest,” and he delivered his new track featuring Don Toliver on Thursday. The song arrives with accompanying video directed by Cole Bennett.
The pair sing about the virtues of being true to loved ones while enjoying time snowmobiling, hanging in a ski lodge and lounging fireside with the people who keep them “honest” — although villains show up to try and ruin their good time.
“You kept it real with me from jump,” Bieber sings on the chorus. Toliver raps: “Gotta pick a side before you jump and leap.
