Dane is from New Zealand and the Ngati Ranginui and Ngati Kahungunu first nations. He made his second home in Las Vegas, Nevada. He is an Ordained Minister, Healer, Expert on Maori Protocols, and has partaken in several avenues: Rugby Coach, Stage Craft, LA Grammy Chapter Voting Member, Studio Session Musician, Recording Engineer, and Event Management.
A 1998 Grammy Nominee for his sound work with Robbie Robertson and the Red Road Ensemble. He has been a voting member of The Recording Academy (formerly the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences or NARAS since January of 2005.
Was the front man for the Las Vegas indie band Dane and the Whaleriders. Since 2015 he has been the frontman of Forest Speaker and Navigators.
Dane won the coveted Juno award in 1998 for his sound work with Robbie Robertson and the Red Road Ensemble for the album Contact From The Underworld Of Redboy.
Dane's short screenplay titled, ''Legend of Nepia" , which he co-wrote with Jason Anthony Fisher, was the winning screenplay at the 2019 Atlanta's Urban Mediamakers Film Festival.
