Back in Season 18, “Hell’s Kitchen” introduced a new reward called the Punishment Pass, which allows the recipient to skip one future punishment should they lose a challenge. The fun prize returns in Season 19 during Thursday’s second episode, but with a surprising twist. Spoiler alert! Now, the person who uses the pass can choose one member from the winning team to take their place in the punishment. “Come on, as if that’s not the most evil thing ever?” wonders the Red Team’s Kori Sutton after hearing about the twist. Are you excited for the return of the Punishment Pass? Sound off down in the comments section.

Cooking skills vs. people skills. That is essentially what it came down to during the “Hell’s Kitchen” finale on February 8, 2019, when Ariel Fox, a veteran who came in third on Season 6, won the 18th season of Fox’s reality cooking show staple. She regularly earned high scores for her dishes in reward challenges. But, more importantly, she was the one chef who was never considered for elimination among the 16. Her lone major sin? When Ariel accidentally served raw fish to Tilly, Ramsay’s daughter, during her Sweet 16 celebration on episode 8, causing her team to be kicked out of the kitchen.
But her friendly rival, Mia Castro — aka the “Challenge Queen” — won all but two of the rewards challenges all season. But she wanted to establish early on that just because she is pretty, has a great smile and is petite, she is not to be messed with. That caused...

Last week: The final four – Motto, Ariel Fox (right above), Mia Castro (left above) and Bret Hauser – competed in a tableside showdown and also took turns overseeing dinner service and running the pass while on the lookout for sabotages. Ariel was smart enough to stand out during the reward challenge by being the only one not using shrimp. Instead, she made pork dumplings with pozole and impressed all concerned. When it came to service, all four did themselves proud. But that was before Motto decided to nominate himself for elimination and leave the competition behind. His reason: He wants to return to Baton Rouge and use his newfound skills to elevate the city’s culinary scene.

Well, the New York Post officially lifted the lid on which chefs are going head to head on the two-hour Season 18 finale airing on Friday on Fox at 8 p.m. Et/Pt. Of course, it is veteran Ariel Fox and rookie Mia Castro, who have pretty much have been dominating the competition for the past couple of weeks on the reality series. The paper touted the fact that a pair of local chefs — Mia lives in the East Village, Ariel in Brooklyn — are the final competitors. It is the sixth time that two women were the final two and the 13th time a female chef will be the winner.
But, as the exclusive clip above shows, the ladies had a little help from their friends. This edition of the cooking contest staple began as “Rookies vs. Veterans,” with returnees from previous seasons going up against newbies. And it is ending that way,...

If you have watched the 18th season of Fox’s reality-competition staple “Hell’s Kitchen” as intently as I have, you pretty much know who the likely two competitors facing off on Friday’s two-hour grand finale will be. Those who like their TV viewing the way they like their food– namely, unspoiled — Stop Right Here!
Otherwise, let it be known that rookie Mia Castro is the chef who will be competing against veteran chef Ariel Contreras-Fox for the executive chef position at Gordon Ramsay’s new restaurant in Las Vegas. Season 18 of “Hell’s Kitchen” certainly has had its share of unexpected upheavals. The biggest shake-up arrived in episode 4, when Gordon Ramsay decided to crumple up and toss away the much-touted concept of “Rookies vs. Veterans” and went back to splitting the chefs into two gender-defined teams.
But last week, rookie Motto, one of the black-jacketed final four players, outdid them all. He took himself out of the competition just when he was on top of his game and the finale was in reach. He preferred to follow his heart and go back home to Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and use the skills he learned on the show to raise his city’s culinary standard. So no executive chef position at Ramsay’s new Las Vegas restaurant for him.
That leaves Mia Castro as the last rookie standing alongside veterans Bret Hauser and Ariel Contreras-Fox. Only two chefs will compete in the finale.

It was quite surprising to witness a contestant at the top of his fame suddenly pull out of the heat of competition a week before the final showdown on the 18th season of “Hell’s Kitchen” this Friday. Not that it didn’t make for compelling TV as chef Chris Motto announced he was eliminating himself in the final minutes of the penultimate episode. He then emotionally explained why he opted to go back to Baton Rouge, Louisiana, rather than vie for the chance to be the executive chef at Gordon Ramsay’s new Las Vegas restaurant.

Oh, Motto. What’s a Motto with you? You upped your game just when it counted. You never faced elimination. You finally revealed you have 12 toes. And, apparently, you lost the coin toss and allowed your fellow rookie, Chris Mendonca, to use your shared first name. But why, oh, why did you wait until right before the two-hour “Hell’s Kitchen” finale this Friday at 8 p.m. Et/Pt on Fox to announce that you had second thoughts and opted to go back to Baton Rouge to use what you learned to raise the culinary standard of the Louisiana city?

Last week, Ariel Contreras-Fox and Mia Castro won the reward challenge with their versions of Eggs Benedict. But rookie Mia’s tendency to space out during dinner service got the best of her again. She and veteran Heather Williams were both up for elimination. But Heather’s food sins were more egregious and she justly got the boot. But it was rookie Motto who stepped up his game and got the service back on track. Mia and Ariel, the favorites to go all the way, should keep an eye on this guy. Yes, it has been one hell of a rollercoaster ride on the 18th season of “Hell’s Kitchen.” For one, Gordon Ramsay decided to dump the much-touted “Rookies vs. Veterans” theme in episode 4 and went back to the usual gender-separated teams. Returning chef Jen Gavin accused Ramsay of sabotaging her garnish and was never seen again after episode 3, while rookie Chris Mendonca had to leave the show before the fifth dinner service for on-going mental problems just as his star was rising.

But let’s treat those jarring events just like Ramsay approaches mangled salmon, barely cooked steak and one cremated pork chop – simply toss them away. Instead, write down 8 p.m. Et/Pt and circle February 8 on your calendar so you remember to tune into Fox that night. Because that is when the two-hour special finale airs.

It’s truly been one heck of a “Hell’s Kitchen” Season 18, starting with the fact that Gordon Ramsay trashed the much-touted “Rookies vs. Veterans” concept in episode 4 and reverted back to the usual gender-based teams. Returning chef Jen Gavin had a meltdown and accused Ramsay of sabotaging her garnish and was summarily shown the door in episode 3. And when rookie Chris Mendonca had just hit his stride and improved his game, his on-going mental issues caused him to leave of his own accord before the fifth dinner service.

There are only two more weeks of “Hell’s Kitchen” Season 18 to go, with a two-hour finale airing February 8 on Fox. Last week on “Hell’s Kitchen” Season 18, five out the six remaining chefs were lucky enough to receive a black jacket and continue on in the competition. We have had a week to digest the fact that Heather Williams, a runner-up on Season 16 who returned as a veteran player and struggled with both her dishes and defensive demeanor, was picked over rookie Kanae Houston, who maintained an upbeat attitude and took more risks with her food. What’s done is done, which is more than you can say about most of the meat and seafood served by this group of chefs so far.
Joining Williams is Ariel Contreras-Fox, who has topped our Gold Derby polls as the most deserving to win it all, Mia Castro, Bret Hauser and Motto. From what we saw in a preview last week, one should keep antacid handy for a roller coaster of a dinner service.

Last week, as “Hell’s Kitchen” Season 18 continues to turn up the temperature on the competition that will conclude with a super-sized two-part conclusion on February 8, all signs pointed to meeting fan expectations of which five out of six remaining chef-testants would move on. First to earn the black jackets were veteran Ariel Contreras-Fox and rookie Mia Castro. Then veteran Bret Hauser and rookie Motto went through on the second challenge.
That left veteran Heather Williams (shown above), who was up for elimination twice, and rookie Kanae Houston, who was never at risk for being cut. going head to head while cooking a surf and turf dish. Kanae, whose previous two dishes outshone those by her rival didn’t know how to properly cook her quail and duck entrees, decided to be inventive with Asian flavors for her pork and prawns. Heather went traditional — some might playing it safe — with filet mignon and lobster.

On Friday’s episode of ‘Hell’s Kitchen,’ nearly all six of the remaining Season 18 chefs managed to step up their game. Veteran Ariel Contreras-Fox and rookie Mia Castro, who both have stood out from the rest when it comes to challenges, handily won the first round and fully deserved their black jackets handed out by Gordon Ramsay.
Then rookie Motto and veteran Bret Hauser‘s quail dishes were good enough during the second challenge to earn jackets as well. That just left Season 16 runner-up Heather Williams, who has been considered for elimination twice, and rookie Kanae Houston, who has been safe from being cut, to go head to head with each other in a surf and turf battle. On this Friday’s 12th episode of “Hell’s Kitchen” Season 18 — titled “Break on Through” — the six remaining chefs are put through their paces by Gordon Ramsay in three challenges before five will earn a coveted black jacket and one will be sent home. Oh Trev, poor Trev. Last week, your Red teammates Bret Hauser and Motto left you in the lurch and I’m feelin’ so sad. Last week on “Hell’s Kitchen,” Bronx-based rookie chef Jose DeJesus proved incapable of cooking the veal correctly and was sent on his way after embarrassing Gordon Ramsay during a charity event dinner service. For someone who has at least one hot-headed meltdown per episode, it kind of makes sense that Gordon Ramsay has a thing for icy substances. Earlier this season he brought in a pile of snow onto the “Hell’s Kitchen” set and made the chef-testants compete in a sledding contest. This week, he has two champion figure skaters, Karolina Calhoun and Collin Brubaker, perform an ice-dancing routine for the seven remaining players minus rookie Jose DeJesus, who was shooed away last week during elimination. Watch the exclusive Episode 11 video clip above.
Veteran Bret Hauser is not impressed by the slippery waltz, hissing, “I don’t do ice skating or ice dancing or ice anything. I live in South Florida.” However, Ramsay practically swoons over the spectacle, saying, “Of all of the Olympic sports, ice dancing is truly the most romantic.” The chef then tries to woo Motto into revealing whether he ever gets romantic.

With only seven chef-testants still in the running to win win “Hell’s Kitchen” Season 18, the numbers are not in Trevor “Trev” McGrath‘s favor. At this stage he’s the only person to be nominated for elimination three times by host Gordon Ramsay. One aspiring chef has been nominated twice (Heather Williams) while two contestants have been nominated once (Bret Hauser and Mia Castro). Do You think Trev still has a shot at winning an executive chef position at Gordon Ramsay Hell’s Kitchen Restaurant at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, Nevada? Vote in our poll below.

‘Hell’s Kitchen’ 18 episode 10 recap: ‘Poor Trev’ lacks good taste, and veal in the raw isn’t pretty
It has been quite a holiday break. Three weeks to be exact. But Fox’s “Hell’s Kitchen” Season 18 is open again and ready for business. When last we watched Gordon Ramsay suffer another bleep-filled breakdown during dinner service filled with fish flaws and mangled beef wellingtons, it was the all-male Red Team that brought the pink to his angry cheeks. As a result, rookie Scotley Innis, who was better at running his mouth than cooking his food, finally hung up his chef’s coat for good. And good riddance, because his bullying ways mostly aimed at veteran Trevor McGrath (shown above) — aka “baby girl” in Scotley parlance — certainly weren’t up the standards of a Hk winner. But episode 10’s title, “Poor Trev,” suggests that the put-upon player’s woes are far from over.

No more re-runs. “Hell’s Kitchen” Season 18 is open for business again this Friday at 9 p.m. Et/Pt on Fox. To refresh your memory, the last new episode to air before the holiday break saw Trevor McGrath‘s rookie nemesis Scotley Innis get the heave-ho from Gordon Ramsay. Perhaps the veteran from Season 8 would get some relief from his foe’s obnoxious verbal bullying.
But, no. His three other remaining teammates — fellow veteran Bret Hauser and rookies Motto and Jose DeJesus triple down on the mocking and abuse as seen in the exclusive preview clip above from episode 10, aptly named “Poor Trev.” Once more, the guys miss out on a reward challenge by blowing a blind taste test, and the ladies earn some luxury spa time.

Like many of us at this time of year, “Hell’s Kitchen” Season 18 is taking a break until January 4, when it will return on Fox at 9 p.m. Et/Pt. But that doesn’t mean Gordon Ramsay’s mellifluous intonations don’t continue to echo in your head as you whip up your holiday repast.
Last week’s episode 9 saw mouthy Rookie chef Scotley Innis scooting away, leaving behind four rookies — Jose DeJesus, Kanae Houston, Mia Castro and Motto — and four veterans — Ariel Contreras-Fox, Bret Hauser, Trevor McGrath and Heather Williams. The ladies won the reward challenge as usual and upped their game during dinner service while the men’s ineptitude caused Ramsay to blow his stack. Ok, he almost always blows his stack at some point.

The 18th serving of “Hell’s Kitchen” started off with the novel format of eight newcomers up against eight returning chefs hoping for a second chance to win the ultimate prize. That would the executive chef position at the new Hell’s Kitchen restaurant at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas and a cash bonus of $250,000. But, as is his wont, Gordon Ramsay decided to trash the whole “Rookies vs. Veterans” premise after both teams suffered a miserable dinner services on episode 7 and went back to splitting up the chefs by gender.
Yet, the Rookie and Veteran labels continue to stick, especially since four newbies and four old-timers have been eliminated. The departure of Scotley Innis, 33, of Atlanta, the latest rookie to hang up his jacket and leave last week after Ramsay de-fanged this culinary “Big Bad Wolf,” once again evens the playing field. Even though Chef Gordon Ramsay put an end to the “Rookies vs. Veterans” twist a few weeks into “Hell’s Kitchen” Season 18, it’s still hard not to look at the nine remaining chef-testants as five newbies and four returnees. Of the five original rookies still in the competition, which one do you think has what it takes to join the all-important “Hell’s Kitchen” winners list? See our quick-takes below and then be sure to vote in our poll.
Jose DeJesus (34) – This Chef de Cuisine from the Bronx has mostly flown under the radar, but in last week’s episode he received rare praise from Ramsay, who said that his meat was cooked to perfection during dinner service. Since the customers that night were Ramsay’s 16-year-old daughter and her teenage friends, there couldn’t have been a better challenge for Jose to impress his boss.

In episode 8 of “Hell’s Kitchen” Season 18, we begin by taking a way-back machine to two weeks ago when the Blue Team gals and the Red Team guys had to re-create the five dishes in front of them. As noted by Gizzy Barton, this seems deceptively easy. But then, one by one, chefs on both teams leave until there is one man, Motto, and one woman, Ariel Contreras-Fox, left standing. Trevor McGrath’s chioppino, a fish stew, was missing a key ingredient – fish — while Ariel’s chicken piccata was perfect-o. The five chefs who left their kitchen had to cook “for their lives.” It came down to a duel between Atlanta chefs Gizzy and Scotley Innis. And Gizzy got the boot.

O-Mia, O-My-o! Time to rank the last 10 players standing on ‘Hell’s Kitchen’ Season 18
We are just about at the midway point of this season — and the show will be on hiatus until Dec. 7. So it seems like a good time to access the status of the cooks left as they vie to become head chef at the world’s first Gordon Ramsay Hell’s Kitchen Restaurant at Caesars Palace Las Vegas. Not only that, the winner gets to pocket $250,000 as well.
Producing delicious food is only part of what a qualified head chef would need to succeed. In other words, don’t be a jerk unless it is part of a chicken dish. The jerk this past Friday? Rookie Scotley Innis, who was trash-talking veteran Trevor McGrath and egging on Jose DeJesus and Motto to imitate the way Trevor calls out orders. That Trevor simply ignored their harassment made him rise in my estimation.

We lost two chefs during last week’s episode of “Hell’s Kitchen.” I felt like Chris Mendonca, who took himself out of the game for mental health reasons, when he woefully asked Mia Castro, “Is it possible to have a good service?” This season, not really. Yes, the all-male Blue Team got their act together. But Red Team veterans Heather Williams and T Gregoire were more interested in blame games than serving their hungry patrons. Not that the so-called celebs at Hell’s Kitchen would want to chow down on their pitiful filets. Our recent poll tied to Episode 6 had 62 percent of respondents saying T had to go, but Heather was no great shakes, either. How did Friday’s episode, “Last Chef Standing,” play out? Previously on Season 18 of “Hell’s Kitchen,” a giant fish fell from the ceiling — just for the halibut – and the newly formed all-female Blue Team won the seafood challenge involving seven dishes using different techniques. But then came dinner service and Gizzy Barton let her nerves get the better of her as she messed up her lamb chops while teammate Mia Castro was compelled to commit a no-no by slicing up wellingtons. But, unexpectedly, it was Season 6 runner-up Keven Cottle who Chef Gordon Ramsay sent packing after he turned his salmon filets into rubber. How did Friday’s episode, titled “Hot Potato,” play out? “Hell’s Kitchen” is back on home base on Fox after skipping a week due to the World Series. Just to jog your memory, the previous episode had a whole lotta shaking-up going on as Chef Gordon Ramsay decided to deep-six the Rookies vs. Veterans premise of Season 18 after both teams stumbled through dinner service. Now, the Red Team is all male and the Blue Team is all female. We will soon see how that works out on Episode 5, “Fish Out of Water.”

Shock, awe and a lot of smoking followed in the wake of Chef Ramsay’s switcheroo of the players. As Ex-Veteran Bret Hauser put it so elegantly, “That was unexpected as ‘bleep.’”

Season 4 returnee Jen Gavin couldn’t stand the heat she was getting from Chef Gordon Ramsay last week on “Hell’s Kitchen” after their kerfuffle over missing duck garnish, and her mouthing off got her sent packing. That means both the Veterans and the Rookies have lost one chef-testant now.

Last week’s Season 18 premiere of “Hell’s Kitchen” was a fanciful amuse bouche compared to this week’s heavy-duty challenges faced by the 16 chefs participating in the show’s first-ever Rookies vs. Veterans showdown.
No one was sent packing as newbie Mia Castro came out on top and scored a fancy dinner for the red-team Rookies after she and blue-team returning player Kevin Cottle both scored 5 out of 5 on a signature dish challenge. The bottom feeders were mouthy vet Jen Gavin and name-dropper newbie Scott Popovic, whose less-than-stellar creations both earned a low score of 2.

For the first time ever, Fox’s reality TV show “Hell’s Kitchen” has pitted first-time players against returning chef-testants for what’s been dubbed “Rookies vs. Veterans.” In last week’s Season 18 premiere, fans were re-introduced to the eight veterans who entered the kitchen wearing silly wigs, glasses and prosthetic noses to initially trick the rookies into thinking they were newbies. None of the chefs on the premiere episode of Fox’s “Hell’s Kitchen” Season 18, which stacks eight Veteran players against eight Rookies, went home last week even though the newbies won the first round against the returnees. This week, however, elimination is inevitable. Judging by this exclusive clip (watch it above), Cleveland restaurant owner Scott Popovic, the name-dropping Rookie, just might feel the wrath of host Gordon Ramsay after he gets totally flummoxed by confusing his name with that of Atlanta-based teammate Scotley Innis and then not knowing that the shrimp being paired with risotto is supposed to be cooked table side.
