The Hunger Games franchise is once again set to volunteer as tribute for the big screen, set to take audiences back to the deadly bread and circuses of dystopic Panem with an adaptation of author Suzanne Collins’s upcoming prequel novel, The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes.
Lionsgate is officially moving forward with The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes as a feature film. The announcement arrives as readers still await the book’s scheduled May 19 release. Auspiciously enough, the studio is sticking with what worked by bringing back director Francis Lawrence, who handled the majority of the 2012-launched film franchise—Catching Fire (2013), Mockingjay – Part 1 (2014) and Mockingjay – Part 2 (2015). He’ll work off a script by Michael Arndt, who worked on the Catching Fire screenplay, along with notable films like Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Inside Out, Toy Story 3 and Little Miss Sunshine. It used to be that ‘remake’ was something of a dirty word in horror after audiences were bombarded with substandard do-overs at the start of the 2000s
But despite early cynicism David Gordon Green’s new take on John Carpenter’s seminal stalk ‘n slash was well received by fans and critics alike and did great box office. So when it was announced that Halloween 2018 would form part of a trilogy with Halloween Kills coming in 2020 and Halloween Ends to follow in 2021 we were basically ok with that. More than ok – it came as exciting news.
David Gordon Green returns to direct the send part of the reboot trilogy. Gordon Green is best know as the director of comedies Your Highness and The Pineapple Express as well as dramas Stronger and Nicolas Cage movie Joe. He’ll also be back to helm part three, Halloween Ends.

A selection of horror shorts and creepy web series to get you in the Halloween mood, wherever you are…
This article comes from Den of Geek UK.
In need of some seasonal creepiness but haven’t got time for a whole movie? Looking for something to watch on your lunch break, or on your phone on the bus home from work? You’ll find just the thing on this list of horror shorts and web series, available on YouTube now…
He Dies At The End
The title’s kind of a spoiler here. But it’s also a clever hook, because it means you spend the entire four minutes and 29 seconds wondering how, exactly, he’s going to die. The 'he' here is an office worker, tapping away at his computer after hours, apparently alone - until someone starts asking him creepy questions via his computer screen.

Do houses have memories? These ones seem to. We pick our favorite haunted house movies and TV shows...
The haunted house is a staple horror device. Usually hundreds of years old, ideally massive, and imposing with as many turrets as its roof can bear, there’s nothing like a haunted house to give you the creeps.
But making this list wasn’t as easy as you’d think. To qualify for the list, a film had to feature an actual haunted house – which immediately rules out many of the films that spring to mind when you read that title. The Shining, for example, is about a haunted hotel, not a house. Paranormal Activity initially seems like it’s about a haunted house, but it’s not the house that’s haunted, and also the supernatural entity is a demon, not a ghost. Ditto Insidious, which has some ghosts,...

Any good horror movie villain needs a mask. We give you 21 of the most frightening face-hiders in the movies...
Ever since Michael Myers went on a killing spree in his Halloween costume, masks have been a staple of slasher movies.
Sometimes they serve to hide the killer’s identity while other times they conceal a disfigured face, and other times, well, probably the production team just thought it’d look cool. Usually the idea is that it’s what lurks underneath the mask that’s scary, but a good horror movie mask is frightening in its own right.
Here then are 20 of the scariest masks ever to turn up in horror movies:
21. Peachfuzz Mask
As worn by: Josef in Creep
The cutesy name for the weird friendly/scary wolf mask, worn by a grown man with serious boundary issues makes his look extremely off putting. The fact...

These horror movies don't use cheap thrills to get scares. They rely on atmosphere and suspense rather than gore and jump-scares.
Creepy isn’t the same as scary. Of course horror movies can be scary simply by using loud noises and sudden movements to make their audiences jump, but creepy is harder to pull off. To be effectively creepy, a film needs to establish a certain atmosphere; it needs to draw you in and make you care. It needs to give you something to think about when you’re trying to drop off to sleep at night; to make you wonder whether that creaking noise down the hallway was just the house settling or something lurking in the shadows. Creepy stays with you. It gives you goosebumps.
I love most kinds of horror movies, but creepy films are probably my favorite. Or rather, my least favorite,...
