Composer Shashwat Sachdev is working on songs that he hopes will initiate the young generation to Hindustani classical music.
"It has been about a month since I am in Jaipur. It is a city very close to my heart because I began my classical music training here. My mother is very particular that I do riyaaz every day. I decided to make videos out of them (riyaaz sessions) and post these on social media," he said.
"This video series has helped me to stay in touch with the kind of music I learnt from my guru over 22 years and brush my understanding of it. They (younger people) think it is boring. I studied my Instagram insights and found that most of my followers are in the age group of 18 to 24 years. Hence, I thought of finding some sounds that the younger audience can relate to, so that they understand the beauty of classical music,...

Is it June already? Once again, a whole year seems to flash by in an instant and what felt like January is now actually December. Bollywood runs at such a pace it’s so hard to remember what came out last month and the trailer that got you excited a few weeks ago, is now the movie that’s already finished in theatres. So, it’s time to take a quick stop and restock and have a look at the 10 best songs so far this year.
10. ‘Beh Chala’ – Uri
Uri is the story based on real events of a critical strike by Indian Special Forces. But even the strongest, the fittest and the best of the best need a moment to be human. ‘Beh Chala’ reminds us that these are people both as individuals and a strike force team. Families, paperwork and the uniform all must find a way to be balanced.

18th September 2016 is a date to be remembered as four heavily armed militants laid down a bloody attack upon Kashmiri border security forces in the town of Uri. Based on those events is the film of the retaliation, Uri: The Surgical Strike. Vicky Khausal leads a unit to hit those suspected of having committed this attack with a surgical strike approach, attacking the heart of the suspected groups. There are a lot of guns and noise, there are a lot of explosions and so the music can either be an assistant to this noise or it can play as a breaker in between scenes to give the audience a chance to calm down after a particularly gory moment. Shashwat Sachdev of last years Veere di Wedding is on hand to give a short but punchy album.

Bollywood has had its fair share of great fun and romantic buddy comedies over the years from movies like Amar Akbar Anthony to Grand Masti. These have been male centred movies where the ladies play a part but are never given a significant block of screen time. To begin rectifying this is the buddy movie of 2018 Veere di Wedding, an all-female lead cast with Kareena Kapoor, Sonam Kapoor Ahuja, Swara Bhaskar and Shikha Talsania. Directed by Shashanka Ghosh this release anticipated on 1st of June looks like a Hollywood female ensemble movie with an Indian twist and Punjabi spice. The music directors asked to achieve this are Shashwat Sachdev, Vishal Mishra, Qaran and White Noise. All of them are up and coming music directors who have a few albums under the belt so no doubt they will provide Veere di Wedding with a lively, modern and very danceable set of tracks.
