Tom D.W. Bartlett was born in Lafayette, Louisiana and years later completed local Emergency Medical Technician and paramedic training programs. He began his film career as a production paramedic and fire safety officer by providing stand-by rescue ambulance protection coverage for stunts and special effects for productions such as "The Cannonball Run", Smokey & the Bandit II and Phobia and went on to provide emergency medical and fire safety protection for a myriad of additional film and television productions along with major special entertainment events. Tom also spent years as a Health & safety Specialist for both the Gulf Coast off-shore oil and maritime ship building industries. Tom had a law enforcement background where he graduated from the police academy and later served on the 1996 Centennial Olympic Games Law Enforcement Task Force. He also served as a paramedic at a myriad of Olympic venues throughout Atlanta during the games.
Today Tom holds a current certification as a Fire Safety Officer. He is highly knowledgeable of the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers set safety standards; the organization's Television & Feature Production Injury & Illness Prevention Program; California Occupational Safety & Health along with California State Fire Marshal; City of Burbank, Culver City and L.A. City motion picture and television fire safety officer standards. He is also highly knowledgeable of both feature film and television pre-production; principal unit; second unit; and post-production operations along with industry OSHA safety, fire safety, and medical needs. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Administration (BSA); a Associate of Science in Emergency Managemen;t and a Diploma in Emergency Medical Technology. HHe has completed motion picture & television production Fire Safety Officer-FSO training and is a member of both the Safety Officer Association and the Safety and FX in Entertainment Consortium.
