Exclusive: Australian network Seven has picked up Stranded on Honeymoon Island, the new adventure dating format from Married at First Sight creator Snowman Productions.
Seven has swooped for the format on the eve of Mip TV and more territory deals are incoming.
Distributed by Married at First Sight seller Red Arrow Studios International, Stranded sees four couples matched by experts following a speed dating event who are taken to a deserted tropical island, where they have to live together and fend for themselves with few resources. The original launched on Belgium’s Vtm last month and doubled the network’s audience share for the 15-34 year old demo, according to Red Arrow.
Snowman will set up and manage a southeast Asian production hub from where all versions will be produced. Endemol Shine Australia is behind Seven’s version.

‘The Chase’.
The Seven Network has commissioned Beat the Chasers, a spin-off of game show The Chase that will see contestants taking on four Chasers at once – The Supernerd, Goliath, The Tiger Mum and The Shark – for a prize pool of over $500,000.
To be produced by ITV Studios Australia and hosted by Andrew O’Keefe, the show is based on a UK format created by Potato, part of and distributed by ITV Studios.
Seven Network programming director Angus Ross said: “The Chase has proven unbeatable at 5.00pm, so we can’t wait to supersize it with Beat The Chasers. The prize money is bigger than ever before in each round, and it builds to a thrilling, high-stakes finale.”
“We’re excited to see some of the country’s best brains test themselves against a formidable line-up of Chasers, with all the fun, tension and play-along we love – but dialed up to eleven.

Angus Ross.
Seven’s director of network programming Angus Ross explains how the country’s lockdown is benefiting Seven’s channels and catch-up viewing, the need to rejig the schedule, and flags a raft of upcoming Australian shows.
Q: At-home viewing levels are spiking for the free-to-air networks, Foxtel and the streaming services, resulting in big gains for your primary network, particularly 7News and Sunrise, 7Plus and 7Flix?
A: It is great to see viewers turning to Fta, particularly 7News, Sunrise and The Latest. These programs are Australia’s dominant and most trusted news brands. We are seeing viewing spikes across all of our channels and 7Plus is breaking viewing records on a daily basis.
Q: While this lockdown may last for six months, I assume you are hoping many viewers will have ‘rediscovered’ Fta TV and so you may retain a lot of those viewers?
A: We had banked...
