The Young and the Restless star Melody Thomas Scott and her husband, Ed Scott, will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Daytime Emmy Awards this year.
Last month, Y&r fans were outraged that Melody wasn’t nominated for a Daytime Emmy as Nikki Newman.
Melody has been killing it lately as Nikki spirals, thanks to Jordan’s (Colleen Zenk) reign of terror.
Those scenes weren’t eligible for the Daytime Emmys this year.
It turns out, though, that The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has something else in store for the soap vet.
Melody and her husband, Ed, will receive the highest honor from The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.

Eden McCoy was the last big winner: The Outstanding Younger Performer in a Daytime Drama category will be history at the 51st Annual Daytime Emmy Awards, along with the Outstanding Promotional Announcement.
That means no more awkward competitions between kids and young adults. This year was particularly odd, since McCoy, 20, was competing against two boys — Henry Joseph Samiri, 10, of The Bold and the Beautiful and Cary Christopher, 7, of Days of Our Lives.
Other changes announced by NATAS include merging Outstanding Writing for a Daytime Non-Fiction Series and Outstanding Writing for Daytime Non-Fiction Special into Outstanding Writing for a Daytime Non-Fiction Program. The Daytime Program Host category has also been split into two categories – Daytime Personality Daily, and Daytime Personality Non-Daily.

ESPN has been called out by the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences after it was revealed that the network was caught breaking rules to win Emmy Awards for its on-air talent.
A bombshell report by The Athletic revealed that the network had “inserted fake names in Emmy categories,” most notably for their successful College GameDay show, to secure wins for the on-air talent who would have otherwise been ineligible for show-specific awards.
In an attempt to prevent “double-dipping,” members of the cast were only eligible for personal awards. As a result of the deception, ESPN’s talent received more than 30 awards.
The network issued a response to the investigation that took place once the scheme was discovered.

A stunning new report details more than a decade of fraudulent Sports Emmy submissions by ESPN that resulted in wrongfully obtained awards for the network’s on-air personalities.
In an exposé published Thursday by The Athletic, a sports-centric subdivision of The New York Times, it’s reported that since at least 2007 — but possibly dating as far back as 1997 — ESPN circumvented an Emmys rule that prohibited on-air talent from being awarded in the Outstanding Weekly Studio Show category.

In a rare joint appearance, the heads of the organizations behind the Oscars, Emmys, Tonys and Grammys expressed optimism about strike talk progress and also tackled the task of producing live events.
“The planning continues,” Bill Kramer, CEO of Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences said when asked about the upcoming Oscars. “We don’t stop planning. We’ve all had to deal with years of pivoting. This is just the latest pivot moment. We’re supportive. We see all sides of this. We want a solution. … There’s just a lot of planning and pivoting right now.”
After a breakthrough Wednesday, WGA negotiators are meeting again with the AMPTP today, and optimism is growing about a potential settlement to the nearly 5-month-long impasse. Award shows have been particularly hard-hit by the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, with the Emmys pushed back to January, putting them in the first-quarter corridor with the Grammys and Oscars.

The unique skill set that allows game show hosts to keep the action flowing as excited contestants vie for prizes is not something everyone has. It’s why certain hosts last for a long time and helm multiple games.
Today, some of that game show community saluted a true master of the art in Bob Barker, who passed away at his home after nearly a half-century of gamesmanship.
Some of the reactions:
Peter Marshall – Hollywood Squares:
“Long before I became an emcee, I admired Bob Barker very much. He was great at what he did, quite wonderful. I can’t claim to have been close to Bob, but when together at events we always talked about our shared love of animals. I hope everyone knows what he did for animal welfare.”
Wink Martindale – Tic Tac Dough:
“In the history of televised game shows, no one is more synonymous with host than Bob Barker.

CNN leads this year’s News & Documentary Emmy nominations, with 45 overall — including seven for “Anderson Cooper 360.” Meanwhile, “Vice News Tonight,” which was canceled this spring, landed 28 nominations — helping Vice News score a total of 30, good enough for second place among outlets.
Among broadcasters, ABC and PBS were tops at 26 nominations each.
“The News & Documentary Emmy Awards honor the work of dedicated professionals working at the highest level of the broadcast journalism and documentary filmmaking professions,” said Adam Sharp, President and CEO, NATAS. “They pay tribute to the journalists who bring us up-to-the-minute reporting on the critical stories of our time, and the documentary storytellers who explore important social, cultural, and political issues in great depth. NATAS is proud to celebrate the work of this year’s nominees.”

It was business as usual this past weekend at the Los Angeles Area Emmy Awards, as local newscasts and programs from the likes of Telemundo’s Kvea and public broadcaster Kcet were recognized. But that’s an exception to this year’s Emmy scramble. As the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes potentially spill into the fall, it’s still unclear how or when the Primetime Emmys — or the Daytime Emmys, which have been on hold since June — will take place.
As this year’s broadcast partner, Fox ultimately must decide when the 75th Primetime Emmys will actually air. And the feeling inside the network is that it should be January. As we’ve previously reported, the TV Academy would prefer an earlier date, like November, and I have to agree there. January feels too far in the distance, and it would also put it in the middle of film and guild...

Here’s some news that might even cheer up Oscar the Grouch: The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has created two new Emmy categories for puppetry performance and puppet design/styling. Both awards will be handed out at this year’s second-ever Children’s & Family Emmys.
“Historically, puppetry performers would enter in the live action performer categories,” said NATAS CEO Adam Sharp, in announcing the new competition. “So, if you were the handler of a puppet, then you would go up against a lead actor or lead actress, and that created for some odd pairings. But managing a puppet is a very different kind of performance than a regular live action performance.”
Back when children’s programming was awarded at the Daytime Emmys, it was usually in the “outstanding principal performance in a children’s program” category (which went through several name changes over the years). In 2021, for example,...

On Friday, June 16 the Daytime Emmys announced the two recipients of Lifetime Achievement Awards: Susan Lucci and Maury Povich. NATAS president and CEO Adam Sharp said in a statement, “We are thrilled to be recognizing two icons with Lifetime Achievement honors, Susan Lucci and Maury Povich. NBC’s coverage of the Xxiv Olympic Winter Games and Fox’s FIFA World Cup telecasts were the big winners Monday night at this year’s 44th annual Sports Emmy Awards, winning three Emmys each. ESPN, meanwhile, was the night’s biggest winner among outlets, pulling 13 Emmys.
The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences awarded this year’s Sports Emmys at a ceremony at Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Frederick P. Rose Hall. Bryant Gumbel will receive the lifetime achievement award for his role in sports journalism.
The Sports Emmys took place even as the writers strike has led to the postponement of NATAS’ premiere Daytime Emmys telecast next month. “While we gather together, other parts of our television community stand divided tonight,” Adam Sharp, president & CEO of NATAS said during the ceremony. “You’ll note most of the typically scripted elements of our ceremony have been pared back in acknowledgment of,...
